Wrong thread but relative?- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
We should father a Parma topic... Too many issues to mix between Cleveland's business even though there are correlations. So far I see the lackluster in Parma debates and development. Parma has a population far greater than and canton, so I believe it deserves its own thread.- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
If amazon randomly went to Parma, I'd be scared. HAH, what do you think they'd do with all the income/ property taxes? Obv not fix the pothole roads we desperately need fixed to drive on. And no fireworks for the 4th for the current 10th year in a row? Being from the Parma area, I didn't even know where our money went other than the mayor's fat wallet...- Cleveland: Campus District
We need to get rid of those concrete/plastic pyramids, and just completely redo the communications building... It's an eyesore and it looks like prison from the outside.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I'd rather make the area as visually appealing as possible. Instead of a winding suspension bridge that spans over the rails and roadway, why not bridge over it with as much land cover as possible... wouldn't it make sense to enhance the environment, covering over mass transportation eye-sores? One thing I like about the Nexus plan; which I know it's part of a design competition, is that it covers and hides the peripheral vision of both the highway and the rails; all while updating the station which desperately needs aesthetic attention. I know the station is basically federal because it's Amtrak, but isn't it also connected via blue/green rta lines? So do we even need federal approval to rebuild the station? Currently I'm all in favor of bridging land over roadways and railways. Is there any way we could build over these transits to where they become like another tower city? Also I love tunnels. I recently went over to Paris, France and they have a sub-city highway that runs through the financial district of the city. It even encompasses a metro line. It's the A14 which turns into N13 and it goes straight to the Arc De Triomphe. Paris did something right hiding their motorways. Good for expansion when cities run out of room. This being said, can we just completely bridge over i-90 turning it into another green ribbon? I'd also be in favor or ridding i-90 of the super frequent exits through the campus district. Its something we don't need right before smashing into Dead-Mans curve. I think this would help lakefront access. A good lakefront is one thing, accessibility and walkability are another thing. *sorry if I spewed off topic*- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
If you think about it, Cleveland has the amenities Amazon wants, which is water... we have the technology... we also have the advanced healthcare...- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Well geese you know what I meant, Euclid Ave....- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Sorry, I've rarely been to the public square bit of Euclid.- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
I read somewhere that ground level retail was included, but I lack verification on that point. There's ground level retail everywhere. I don't think it would be wise to keep flooding the city with businesses. As it stands we still have a higher business to resident ratio. Cleveland is working to change that, but I'm not sure if adding more retail would break the future vision that Cleveland has in mind. Although Cleveland has done relatively well in recent years with the current status of our population. Maybe because of our massive sports market.- Cleveland Monsters Discussion
The Mullet Brothers were retired a few weeks ago. The Monsters are looking for 10-12 skaters to participate within an all new 'ICE CREW'. Ice Crew would take on responsibilities of the Mullet Bros. The reason why they were retired is because the AHL was making a push to clean the ice surface between 60 second official timeouts. Between 3 manly, dashing figures, they just couldn't do it all themselves. The move was made to meet the AHL's demands.- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Loving the Sherwin Williams Backdrop there!- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Yet another shittily said article. Excuse my french, but they make it seem like nuCLEus will have other options after CMSD votes the tax abatement down. When it's voted down, that's it, unless city council forces it down their throats; which we all know they wont. Doesn't Cleveland know that you have to spend money to make money? Because they sure have avoided plenty of other nice deals from Stark and basically strayed away and dodged their own bullet pushing the issue on CMSD. Even though it's still the city's problem, they act like it's not. Am i not right here? Anyways can we get an UrbanOhio editor for Cleveland.com? It seems we have the upper hand on development news...- Cleveland: Random Development and News
Downtown includes the Campus District. Yes.- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
We're counting on you- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Sounds like we need an Urban Ohio editor on Cleveland.com- Cleveland: Random Development and News
I thought this should be some good news. Considering the population of 'JUST' Downtown Cleveland. http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/cleveland/downtown-cleveland-sets-a-residency-record/475003722 *Also featuring the crane of 515 Euclid*- Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
Now I guess I'm misunderstanding a little too much about this project. Is the whole arena getting a re-clad or is this just going to be the Northeast side of the arena?- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Currently the CMSD is being stubborn about a deal they should have taken in the first place... They have posteponed the vote indefinitely until the issue is brought back up either by Stark or the school board. Really not sure why they just screwed off... There's alternatives to getting the finances ready for Construction. Looks like the CMSD just isnt gonna cut it. Back to the drawing board.- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Well goodbye Amazon, nice talking about the deal. Sorry Wahoo was a deal breaker. LOL- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Well having a distribution center right on the lake would be a game play though. No need to weave through mountains to get to Canadian cities.- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
This should probably go into the business thread. Although I think we have the upper hand advantage having immediate access via freight through the Great Lakes and Canals to the Ohio. If Amazon builds HQ2 in Cleveland, I think they'd be extremely happy to have close neighbors with the majority of Canadian major population centers. Cleveland has a market for property right now. Demand is growing, so prices for their 500,000 sq/ft facilities would probably be a tough find. I imagine they want their facilities within the same block close to transportation which would be best for the Super Block, but I'm afraid its not enough space for the long run. We could start a rapid line to the steelyards and lease property there (probably not a good idea anyways), maybe some of Scranton peninsula or surface lots that create vacant space between CSU's Rhodes tower and the Erieview block. They could probably make some space closer to University Circle, it would be nice to have sort of a secondary Cleveland skyline kind of like Toronto with Mississauga, and New York with Newark. UC is booming in economic growth, even if healthcare just isn't settled yet. There's a lot of potential there.- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Robert L Stark from Stark Enterprises. Its the same developer developing nuCLEus across the Q. EDIT: I wasnt sure if you were talking about the developer or the company building it. Glad Arbor is doing it.- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Well, i stand corrected! Lol. I guess I pay attention mostly to the games and our big 3 with our Beaux Arts AT&T building...- Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
