  1. Most likely 515 from the nosebleeds since it is a mid rise. Playhouse is on the other side of the field outside of the cityscape, so you wouldn't even see it from nosebleed seats unless you look on the outside walkways underneath the seats. NuCLEus will either fill the space between 200 and terminal, or cover up our beautiful terminal tower. The only reason I dont like nuCLEus is because they put it in the wrong place...
  2. I made a post in the Skyscraperpage basically making a brag sheet for Cleveland, because Cleveland was the forbidden city of the thread. They put the thread on hold due to boosterism, but I cant see why that would be an issue discussing which cities have which factors that would allow Amazon to consider HQ2. Anyways here was the list. I think we have the better hand out of either Chicago, New York, Detroit, and Pittsburgh. I think Cleveland would be a great fit for HQ2. Here are some of the things they considered requirements, and additional factors that Cleveland fulfills as a bidding city. ========================================================== -Cleveland has plenty of low cost land for development. 500,000 + sq/ft requirement and up to 8,000,000 + sq/ft expansion/phase II. -Has a metropolitan area population of around 2.077 million people. -Cleveland is sustainable with increasing residential additions to the city, closing the ratio between business to resident. -Cleveland also has a booming residential industry, going through a renaissance. -They could find plenty of room to develop with the vast amount of surface lots. -Plenty of Renovated buildings for both office and residential. -Awesome regional public transport including light rail/metro from airport and Medical district, with countywide busing courtesy of the GCRTA. -Two world class hospitals right down the road. Three major hospital systems within the city. University Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Metro Hospital. -Amazon loves clean energy, Cleveland will be the first city in the world to be home to the first wind farm in fresh water over Lake Erie with cutting edge Ice Breaker foundations. -Two public universities/colleges and three private universities/institutes. This specializes technical jobs within the vicinity of Cleveland Amazon needs. -Great means of entertainment downtown with the second largest functioning theater district in the U.S. Three major sports teams, two minor teams as well. Including beach fronts, Wildlife reserves (Cleveland Metroparks), and bike paths. Science, History, and art museums. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Nearby 45 minute to an hour drive to Cedar Point, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Blossom Music Center Amphitheater. -Lots of world renown restaurants and food. Not to mention a large market district in a neighborhood called "Ohio City". -Major port city for large freight with connection to the Great lakes which means freight can easily be transported into Canada via great lakes up through Montreal, Toronto, and Ottowa. Can easily access rust belt cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Erie, Sandusky, Toledo, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay. There are connections to the Mississippi through Canals built to the Ohio and Illinois and Michigan Canals. Vast amount of Rail-Road connections to most surrounding Rust Belt Cities like Pittsburgh, Detroit, Columbus, Akron/Canton, and Toledo. -Two major highways run from Cleveland to southern states I-77 to Columbia, SC and I-71 to Louisville, KY. Two from east to west one of which is a turnpike I-90 from Boston, MA to Seattle, WA and Ohio Tpke I-80 from New York, NY to San Francisco, CA with several highway connections around the city I-480, I-490, and I-271. All highways are easily accessible at least 2 miles from downtown -At&t are planting fiber connections throughout the city -Could be great business partners with Sherwin Williams, their HQ is right down the street where the iconic LeBron mural hangs. ========================================================== Believe it or not Cleveland is a Central Hub with plenty of Wiggle Room. Plenty of room to develop, with plenty of accommodations city-wise and transport wise. Amazon has recently bought and committed to creating a fulfillment center just southeast of Cleveland in an abandoned mall. It seems like it would make the most sense to setup their HQ2 in Cleveland. They built themselves an empire in Seattle and they have outgrown their shells, a place with plenty of developmental room which lies so close together sounds like something Cleveland was destined for.
  3. I like tall
  4. There's a company who's already looking for more appealing solutions for the jersey barriers downtown. Those are there for Homeland Security concerns with weaponized vehicles, but the concrete is only a temporary solution. Hopefully pretty soon we'll have some black brass pedestrian poles, hopefully something appealing to the rust belt history of Cleveland...
  5. Don't you think that since Amazon has purchased North Randall Mall, they've already begun development and a push to Cleveland? Maybe a pipe dream? Precursor?
  6. Cleveland could be considered home to a new Amazon HQ. As of their rapid growth within Seattle, they are finally considering means of expansion elsewhere; however, the major complex in the air has many requirements that cities must fulfill to even be considered for a bid, such as land requirement; which for a massive facility like Amazon would be tricky, there are airport, highway, population, entertainment, and workforce related requirements as well. The full list of requirements is right here. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/Anything/test/images/usa/RFP_3._V516043504_.pdf Although it seems too good to be true, there are other cities who are up for bid, such as Dayton, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Baltimore, Denver, Provo, Raleigh, Tampa, Cincinnati, Washington, Kansas City, even Toronto. Some sources even say Columbus is on the chase. This isn't your ordinary bid. This is an all out bidding war which would be interesting to watch. All bets aside, we need to submit an application sometime in October for the bid, but that would prove to be challenging as the Mayor is up for re-election. Assuming Mayor Frank Jackson stays within office, I think we have a pretty good chance to even have a finger on the bid. 7. Medical Mutual signed a lease agreement to move some offices to Brooklyn as they have introduced legislation to provide economic incentives for their tenantship. The new location of these offices will be located at the former American Greetings headquarters in Brooklyn. http://www.cleveland.com/brooklyn/index.ssf/2017/09/brooklyn_to_introduce_legislat.html
  8. Great news for our industry! Just today driving home on 77, they were laying down the roof for their new facilities. Also great news that foreign markets are gaining traction in Cleveland. Hopefully Nova Tube can pull this off.

I guess we have to stop using photobucket unless people still have previous photos on their systems. Everytime I come look at beautiful city pictures i just see a photobucket graveyard...
  10. It would come down to how we could support it, because we already have 3 sports markets. We don't near have the population to support a 4th. There just aren't enough hockey fans in Cleveland than there were 49 years ago when the Barons played at Richfield. Although I'm glad the Q renovations came through, just not happy with our city leaders. Seriously a complete waste of time submitting petitions to derail a project and then withdrawing from your own cause.
  11. It's not up to Gilbert to support an NHL Franchise. The NHL has to first approve or grant Cleveland that sort of a status. Cleveland isn't much of a tourist market either unless you're on a rust belt tour. The NHL looks at populations, population movement, and proximities relative to other teams, whereas Cleveland lies between 3 NHL hockey teams and we only have a relatively small population of around 380,000 which is still declining quite frankly. We barely have an attendance with the Monsters already. The only reason why NHL games are packed are because A) You live in Hockeytown; B) Playoff team; C) Atmosphere is strong; D) Circumstance; and E) League. As it stands the AHL is mostly aimed toward younger audiences making games family friendly, so there are more screaming children than men (who wants to hear children screaming all night). Going to an NHL game is completely different in atmosphere, way more of an interactive fan-base with content and crews that support an experience that is truly family oriented, getting everyone involved whether you're an adult or just a child. Cleveland is not a Hockeytown, like I said before we are within 2 hours each direction of NHL teams. Our AHL team only won a single championship, which still isn't enough to gain faith of the fans. This is why Hershey Bears' games are always packed even as an AHL team because they reliably win championships. Even though we have many youth city/club and High school level Leagues across northeast Ohio, there isn't enough leverage with just that. The Monsters need a history which we barely have within 10 years. The way I see it, I don't think Gilbert will ever be asking for an NHL franchise unless the Monsters are sold elsewhere, or moved by our Blue Jacket affiliate. As it currently stands, we don't have the fan-base "Yet" and we also do not have the population to support a new major marketing campaign. Vegas just got their new expansion over at T-mobile, with a standing and steadily rising population of around 632,000+ residents, whereas Detroit has 672,000+ with a steadily declining population. For a new NHL expansion it looks like we need a larger tourist market than we currently have, and we're going to need a lot more people, at least double our current population. We have a long way to go until we have an NHL franchise my friend. Unless something happens to the Blue Jackets, Penguins, or Red Wings, our NHL market would be exclusive to Cleveland, rather than having Central Ohio as the hub for hockey. It's like the Browns and the Bengals which are on opposite corners of Ohio, and like the Penguins and the Flyers on opposite sides of Pennsylvania. If we had Franchises on opposite ends of the state, there would be plenty more of a balance between both teams. When they go head to head it's suddenly a battle for Ohio, which is what people want to watch, as if there are two boxers on opposite corners of the ring. There's much more to be done before we can support anything as complicated as a new NHL market, but don't hold your breath just yet, there were rumors last expansion that we could have gotten one. Anything can happen though.
  12. It's supposed to be the hilton, sorry i screwed that up, but i just wanted to depict it since i couldnt find any good skyline photos facing north. This photo was taken pre-hilton, so i made it between key and terminal. Misplacement is a no biggie. Would love to see something new on Jacob's block. whether it be the original plans for Ameritrust or not, i just want something there. Also, BelievelandD1 i included the new CSU private dorms, I believe they're called 'Edge'... I'm not really sure, despite going to classes there every day. Also Hello everybody and thank you for the warm welcome... Sorry about my name, its been that way since the dawn of time...
  13. I made a 'clean' interpretation of how cleveland will look in a few years if everything goes as planned... *cough cough*
  14. Looks like the Q deal may be re-loaded... not sure why people just decided to complain about it and then revoke their petition to shut the renovations down. So now that the Q deal 'MAY' be back up on the board we 'MAY' see some better news with nuCLEus...
