Cleveland: Random Development and News
Mmmm, well in that case I'm still wondering if we still have that 'whale' fortune 500 company @KJP has been teasing us about. Really hoping for Cleveland Cliffs.

I have a family member that is a city employee who says they're packing up shop and leaving for Cleveland. I may be blanking out, are they really in progress with the build?

When do you think they'll ever restore those tall rightmost buildings? They look really dirty and run down.

Where did you find Urbanohio????
I actually stumbled upon this place in 2012 when I was just starting out High School after I visited Skyscraperpage.com. I was an aspiring Architect once I started High School, but my dreams were immediately put down saying I would never make it as an Architect. So I decided to take a look at Cleveland's history, what developments are planned, which have been crucially cancelled, *Ehem, Ameritrust*, and that's actually the start of how I found this place. Through some quick googling I found some awesome photos of downtown Cleveland buildings, shot by @MayDay. I will always applaud her for taking my favorite panoramic view of Cleveland which she recently did a before and after shot in that same location. So a quick search of MayDay Cleveland Ohio, and I am suddenly directed here. I have never been to a place where we as locals or as a state resident where I was able to share my aspirations and my newfound hobby and love for the place that I call home. This place is one big Pen Pal for people who live so close but yet so anonymous. I do look forward to coming to an annual outing and shaking a few hands, but for right now my family and this website are my only connections to home. The military is one emotionally tough job, and I miss every bit of Cleveland and Ohio which is the only place I've known.

Thread Closures / Locked Issues & Questions
Thank you for the replies. What @skiwest said, made it so simple I have no idea how he did it, I just don't have a knack for explaining things in a short and to the point way. I appreciate your guys' volunteer work, and I especially love your guys' warning shots on each thread gone off-topic. Arguing on public forums designed for development specific discussion is intolerable, I understand those circumstances, and I'm glad those are locked for however long they are. I just don't understand why off-topic forums get locked for an unreasonably extensive period of time when de-escalation should only take a day. I enjoy your presence and you guys have given us a lot of great contributions. I would love to help out wherever I can as well.

Thread Closures / Locked Issues & Questions
I actually came here to voice my feelings on locking threads for multiple days on end. It kind of feels pointless to lock a thread if there's a feature for Urban Ohio to have user Muting, but if we do have that feature can we just use that to censor off-topic arguments, and leave the thread open for those that do participate on the insider info. You don't have to close an entire thread to prune it, or is that necessary due to coding discrepancies. I understand that the development threads are strictly for development only, but if there's any kind of visual or work opinions it's considered off-topic, jokes included. But for me as a user on this website who comes for entertainment and community; like to see open conversations about these developments, have a laugh or two, maybe share a bit of criticism, there's almost no place to have an opinion. So having these threads locked for however long they are or will be is kind of unnecessary. That's no fault to the mods, I think the people of Urban Ohio would love to see some different operating procedures rather than log on to see their favorite thread very shamefully locked.

Parma: Development and News
Parma City Schools voted on a consolidation plan, a few days ago. Parma Senior High will be closing in phase one of the plan becoming a community center with open pool, gym and auditorium. The deal will replace 15 of our campuses to 9 brand new facilities in a $263 Million dollar plan. Criticism from back in 2016, remember when the students, faculty, and parents went on strike to save after school programs, and keep the schools from consolidating after we've been wrongfully put in debt? The rivalries and alumni that will be hurt from this, oh boy...

JJ's in Abilene is still open... so I'm not worried. I just go for the "Free Smells"

Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
That takes up a rather larger than expected portion of OC... Why is it so big and widespread, so unnecessary considering so much private development is rising?

Cleveland: Random Development and News
If you open up brand-new "developable" property basically in the center of the City, i.e. Fairfax, you're completely molding the entire area the way your business would want for a brand new neighborhood. They're always watching urban real estate markets. My money is on either Microsoft or IBM as I mentioned above. If the Justice Center is moving there, there's still alot of room for some bigwigs. Fairfax will be the new Millionaire's Row. If we have anything to add about it please speak in the Fairfax thread.

If I recall some time ago, IBM or Microsoft one or the two decided Cleveland was a growing market. Opening up that amount of land and street front would be perfect for branching fortune 500's.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for all your steadfast dedication to bring us all good and bad news, as well as I. I'm glad to call this my #1 go to to keep my hopes up, because I don't do anything else on the internet but youtube and scour this entire forum for interesting tidbits. I'm glad to call this city home. This will be my first Thanksgiving away from home, as I've already spent every holiday away from my family since Christmas 2018. It's hard not being there with my family now that I'm in the USAF, but I do know that there are others who have it way worse than I do, and I am very grateful for those who are fighting overseas past, present, and future members of our services. I'm glad you guys are my connection to home, staying familiar to the city and staying informed on what I have to expect when I come home again. This website with your collaboration of course is without a doubt a lifesaver for me. Now as we say in sarcastic language as disgruntled government employees, " Thank you for your steadfast contributions to the overall mission of our United States Air Force", I extend that to you guys and every Ohioan across our 3 C's T, A/C, Y, D but very not sarcastically. You truly don't understand the weights of your deeds, and keeping me informed is all i need. Thank you.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
So me and another student at CSU in technical writing had a final project a few years ago. We decided to write up an RFP and semi-feasibility study to lace the Cleveland breakwaters with water turbines. Take a gander, because I think it really goes in place with green energy regarding these wind turbines. It's our first RFP, so please look past formatting issues and anything out of the norm. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qnpzKVE2tszwa0SsSUqTIBc_DVcn8EbNf9lF_T01ZGQ/edit?usp=sharing

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Possibly, not ruling it out, but R&D developments can be tricky in a downtown setting. Fumehoods and proper ventilation techniques are needed for chemical labs, and classroom/computer labs are needed as well, so lots of wiring, ventilation, and plenty of firewalls. Its doable for University since not much space is being used, but if we're talking multi use complexes with high numbers of stories, that's the challenge and potentially the shortfall for the R&D component. So I'm not expecting it to be as tall or even comparable to the corporate side, but at the same time there will be other components that will be comparable, just as big, or bigger in Sq Ft. Stay tuned!

I think a double pinnacle tower like that is so iconic. With how short it is it definitely is in my top 10s.
