  1. Anyone figure out where this is because I would like to know the story behind it.
  2. I would have voted Noozer, but he wasn't on there. Or KJP.

I haven't been able to watch much of this, except of the clips that are given online, because I don't have cable. But I think it is cool that they are giving coverage over something that affects them directly. I mean, so often they report on things that all they do is observe and really have no direct impact on them. It's kind of cool to see that CNN is just like any other company and can be effected by natural disasters as well. Even acts of violence, as happened a few months ago when someone went on a shooting rampage in the Center. They are a 24 hour operation, they really just can't go off the air and they have things to do. Was anyone watching CNN when this happened? It would have been interesting to see what they were doing when the tornado struck. On another note, what cities CBD have been effected by tornados recently. I guess within the past ten years. Starting back in high school, I remember when Salt Lake, Miami, Nashville, and Fort Worth were all hit by tornadoes downtown. So, are tornadoes really that rare in the CBD? Are they rare because large cities only take up so little of the over all land in the United States? Sometimes people make it sound like tornadoes in cities are so rare because of the heat they produce. Is there any truth to this?
  4. Only open until 4pm? I hate it when I businesses do that. I've worked late a few times and have not been able to grab dinner because places close at four! Geesh. When does NBC 4 move in?
  5. Wow! I was afraid we were acctually going to lose them! This is good news! And, I've only read the headline so far!
  6. Can't we just have two engines per train, one for each side like they do in France with the TGV?
  7. BEST FIVE YEARS OF MY LIFE! God I miss that place sooo much! Thank you for posting that.
  8. Damn it! A whole day wasted!
  9. thanks man! you rock! I kinda have a creative idea for a train station that I am working on. This of course is a part of it. Thanks.
  10. Anyone know where I can find a good picture of that old Columbus Train Station on W. Broad St. The one that looks like a Chinese Pagoda?
  11. I know noozer is right. I would just like to see high speed rail in ohio long before I die. :-) I am really excited though with where things have gone in the last couple of weeks. Now, where should Columbus put it's train station. I think it should be on West Broad St, just West of Vets. Memorial Hall. It should be the Franklinton's equivalent of the Arena District's Nationwide Arena.
  12. But why take the train when the car goes just as fast? If you wait to build the high, high speed, then you may run into the same problem we have now with highways. Most highways were built for a certain capacity to be obtained by a certain time and they had the intention of expanding them in the future if there was need. Often when that capacity was met (faster than what was previously thought I believe) we were hard pressed to find the funds to make it happen. Didn't the Columbus 70/71 split reach capacity in the early 90's and we are just now finishing the final stages of planning? Also, California is jumping right into the high speed rail and there density is lower than ours (this is an assumption seeing as though California the state is so vast and the major cities are so far apart). If California can do it than why can't we? Also, wasn't it mentioned on this thread somewhere that Ohio has the same population density as France? We have a lot potential I believe for high speed rail given the current air travel conditions. Ohio has a lot of major cities for one state: Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland and other decent sized cities as Dayton, Toledo and Akron. Indiana has Indianapolis (Fort Wayne-maybe). Illinois has Chicago. Michigan has Detroit.
  13. I soo need to change my name. Any ideas? I was thinking 'Ox' or 'Blue Ox' or somehthing else maybe. hmmmm. I'll have to get back to this one.
  14. How exactly will the 3-C work? Is it seriously going to use existing track? Or is there a push to make seperate tracks? I am hoping we will do something to similar to what California is trying to go for with there high speed rail initiative. I like how they are going to have separate grades to eliminate car traffic from going over tracks. I also like how they have four tracks, two dedicated to freight, and the other two dedicated to passenger rail. Check the video out if you haven't already at... http://www.cahighspeedrail.ca.gov/
  15. YAY! I am happy! Has it ever gotten this far before?
  16. Ya, I freaked out too! I was like, this could get messy seeing as though they have already started building the stands.
  17. I've been in one. It's a little weird. Some rooms have no windows, others are just odd shapes, and there are too many doors in weird places. I am surprised that the lofts aren't selling, but that's probably because the view is of a parking garage.
  18. Walker Evans, I love you! OK seriously, I really enjoy your idea. The only thing missing is reopening Town Street (pedestrian or otherwise, can't really make up my mind) and a public park would be nice.
  19. Willis Brown, who leads the King-Lincoln Bronzeville Neighborhood Association, questioned why the city needs more parking when new Downtown housing has its own garages; businesses are relocating to the suburbs; and "Columbus City Center is dying or already dead. Perhaps they are moving to the suburbs because parking is limited or they do not like the current condemend parking garage that exist now?
  20. From what I can see, it's not as bad as I had originally thought. Mind you, I didn't hear about this until my aunt mentioned something about it to me on the phone on Sunday night. The way she made it sound, I thought the whole building colapsed. It is a shame though, I hope they are able to rebuild.
  21. I have only read a few of these suggestions, not all of them. I agree with the few that I have read and I agree that it is too basic, needs more proffesional pictures, and the font type needs to change.
