  1. OK, I agree with this, even though I say "goodbye ohio rail initiative....." I think this is a good idea to help Ohio in the future but I just don't know if the powers that be and other Ohioans will see it that way.
  2. ^^Good-bye High Speed Rail Initiative...for another decade anyway.
  3. Something I am thinking about as I am reading this last story and writing. How would the Short North do if the Columbus Convention Center were to relocate to the now defunct City Center Mall property? I think the main reason I ask this is because 1. you have the Hyatt on Capitol Square and the Former Adam's Mark (it's current name is ecaping me, is it the Regancy?) and 2. you have more room to grow. The current location of the Convention Center leaves very little room for expansion while River South has plenty of room. I mean, if we want to be competative, we will need room to grow and I don't think the current location allows for that. Just a thought.
  4. Really nice pictures. I really enjoy the suns reflection off windows on to other buildings. Really cool. I have never been a fan of all these stupid brand-name sporting facilities. The only ones that I think work are "Great-American" and "Nationwide", "Huntington" will have to grow on me. "Shottenstein" would work for me if it wasn't officially known as "The Jerome Schottenstein Value-City Arena". I am happy now too that "Germain Amphatheater" is now closed. "Polaris" was such a cooler name. The name of a sports facility should always be called the same thing until it is torn down. I mean, these places have identities. I mean, could you imagine renaming Wriggly Field or St. John Arena? It would be like me changing my own name in the hopes that I could have a new identity or something. But hey, there's a concept, perhaps I could sell my naming rights to some corporation that way I can pay off my loans faster. :-) Any takers?

I understand there is a vacancy in SoHo as of today. i believe rent is somewhere around 23,000 dollars a month though.
  6. Oh, and the new parking lot is light years better than what is there now!
  7. Hey all, I think this is a step in the right direction. Yes, we are still geered towards cars, but that is not all bad right now. Atleast we are getting rid of the surface lots and replacing them with housing. Transferring our focus from cars to people will take some time. Once we atract enough people downtown, we can start making it more people friendly. I mean, we can start now, and I think we have, but we still are a very car oriented society. A lot of these conversions will take time. Someone showed me a video about Copenhagen--they probably have the video on here--and there conversion to being a more biker friendly place. It took 40 years for it to happen! It surprised me because I thought Europe would be more on the ball with something like that.
  8. I've never understood why they built a passenger terminal at Rickenbacker.

Why not write a letter to his parents? Also, ask them to pay for your food that he has eaten and maybe they will say something to your roommate about it. Of course, run it by some of us first to give you pointers and what not. Ok, maybe that was dumb but be more stern with him but do it without insulting him either. Maybe post signs in your food pantry specifically calling him out. "This food to be consumed only by David", initial everything that is yours. If you catch him with it, hound him for it. Also, threaten him with action and actually following through. Next time he parks his car diagonally, get it towed. About the wireless, see about going in together with some of your neighbors and stop using your roommates. I can't see you having any legal obligation to pay if you don't use Pete's.
  10. ^What i find interesting is that all these contractors claim that if they are not awarded the project that the County is then wasting tax payer money. Do they think litigation comes cheep?

great pictures, thanks for sharing. Those homes seem really nice.
  12. Ya, I always wanted this to be built along with Nationwide Arena like it was supposed to originally be built.
  13. Yuck, commissioners should leave what is concidered "beautiful" to the professionals.
  14. What!? Cleveland never had a Wal*Mart until this past year!? How do you do that?

Ok, one thing that bothers me. Why in the world would you plant things in the dead of winter. Won't they just die? I mean, they can't take root now can they?
  16. ^Whaaaa?????
  17. ^interesting, I thought it was iligal to advertise alcholic beverages. :-P Anyways, it looks really good. Not the best quality photo, anyone have one better? Also, I think that study about it being distracting is a load of crap. People can and should be able to decide for themselves if somehting is distracting. Besides, if you are in your car, you'll prolly watch it when you are stopped at the light. Oh, and I am really glad that Eye Sore is gone.

  20. The blue is going to have to grow on me. This thing may turn out better than I first imagined. I just hope they keep with the Landscape Architecture that they have in some of there renderings. ^atlas, shouldn't you be working now? ;-)
  21. ^funny, because before i read that last line, that was the person that came to my mind.
  22. ^^gildone, may we see the email you sent to him? Also, keep sending them. One is easy to overlook, it's hard to say no to 10. I think the State of Ohio should just build its own rail and leave Amtrak out of it.
  23. I can't believe the first time I ever heard about this project was back in November! I am really happy to see this good reuse of a building. I am just not happy with the name of the hotel, it needs to be something more grand.
  24. I saw this today and I noticed that almost all the editorials seemed to be in some way connected to Global Warming. Who wrote that editorial by the way. It was not evident to me when I read it in the paper this morning.
  25. This one really freaked me out!
