Phoenix - Light Rail on Opening Day
PS. Hopefully a lot of neysayers here in Columbus are going to the OSU Bowl Game in the area and will get bitten by the light rail bug.

Phoenix - Light Rail on Opening Day
So this means that Columbus is the only Major Capital City in the country that does not have light rail?

Favorite Music At The Moment?
Outside of Christmas Music as of late, I have been listening to d a lot of dance/electronica/techno stuff. I'm a fan of Deep Dish 'George is On' and BitterSweet 'Remix Game'. I'm always up for nostalgia and love hearing any kind of music that defined a generation. I was never a big fan of Nirvana, but if I come across something like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I get totally pumped and want to listen to things like Green Day's 'Basket Case'. Also, I have a renewed interest in 'Rockwell's 'Somebody's Watching Me' thanks to Geico's new comercials. Aparantly the version on the comcercials has yet to be released. It will be released as a singe in January.

2008, a retrospective.
I was hoping to see what people will remember about 2008, also, what they would like to forget, if you are so inclined. I will have fond memories of flying out to Las Vegas for work. It was so tough, but I loved it! Working an 80 hour week with time and a half overtime totally kicked butt. Eating at the Balagio for an appreciation dinner on the company dime of course and catching the Cirque du Soliel production 'Ka' was pretty amazing as well! Something I will remember fondly and can't believe I have not seen any news outlet recall it, was the earthquake this year! How awesome was that to experience something so rare here in Ohio first hand!? It's just unfortunate that it happened so early in the day and it was what woke me up that morning. Of course, who could forget that historical election of Obama! Still get excited about that and can't wait until he takes the oath of office. Who's with me in saying that day cannot come soon enough! Am I right!? About the only thing I would like to forget is being laid off from work and the poor economy. Come to think of it, that is the worst that has happened to me, so I guess it's good that I have a lot more fond memories than bad ones. Here's to a bright and happy 2009! Cheers everyone! PS, is anyone doing anything for New Years Eve this year. My family doesn't really celebrate it so much, I'm looking for something fun and exciting to do.

Maybe I should send a letter to my Congressman and ask for them to bail me out? Why can't I just personally ask for a bailout?

Flag Wars
We watched this in class a couple of years ago. My professor kept asking me if I was familiar with the area since she knew so well that I was from Colubus. I felt like an idiot because i didn't recognize any part of it. I was ashamed though because I have never seen my city in such a negative light.

Now I know what my grandma meant when she said enjoy being young while you can. I wish my biggest problem right now was wanting Sega Genesis games or a BB/Pellet gun and a co2 cartridge! Hear, Hear

SlipperyFish replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionDo they damage bikes? Or do they just calm bicycular traffic too? ;) I can imagine that cobble stone streets are not good for bikers no matter what speed they are going. Most bikes I know don't come with shocks.

Columbus: Downtown Developments and News
I agree it is better than a parking lot. What my problem was when this project first began it seemed to me that they were trying to bring the suburbs downtown. We did that in '89 with City Center and we see where that got us. Also, it would seem strange to me to look out my window and see a large wall of concrete or glass. Also, it is too quick of a contrast at once. I would have preffered something in the way of 5 to 10 stories of housing this close to the CBD.

film of a 1905 subway ride
I was wondering how it had sound. I was surprised when I heard it. I was also wondering how it had light, but then I saw it later in the film. Pretty cool. What were we looking for around the five minute mark. I just saw people. Thought I may have seen two guys holding hands?
