  1. Why would you expand the Juvenile Justice Center?
  2. SOOOOO Much potential within this stretch of Superior.
  3. Isn't Jimmy Haslem somewhat unfavorable in the owners circle? I feel like relationships and perception amongst constituents matters in situations like this.
  4. Side note: That post of the finalist cities gave Cleveland THE WORST skyline picture out of everyone else.
  5. I think the ground floor tenant is a perfect fit for the area based on its location.
  6. Even split in half 240 spaces for 99 Units is a lot. A boutique grocer problem wouldn't need over 200 spaces either.
  7. 99 Units with 487 Parking Spaces means the parking ratio is 1:6. For every resident there are SIX PARKING SPACES?? Insane
  8. What's amazing to me is we are on the cusp of having one of the most underwhelming waterfronts (Riverfront and Lakefront) to BOTH being world class attractions almost simultaneously. It really is amazing to see it unfold.
  9. So essentially if Cleveland already had unified light rail system before these were ordered they could've been phased in much quicker than the 2027 date?
  10. Why in the world would you ever need that much parking. They look at the Downtown Lakewood development and said "Hold My Beer"
  11. Wait WTF? That's a wonderful surprise for it to be so soon.
  12. I really don't want to ruin my morning lol. It's a reason why I stopped looking at the Historical Cleveland Picture section of this website. Once I saw the original layout and vibrancy of Vincent vs. now I had enough lol.
  13. An area only feels disconnected if the city/planners allow that to be the case. Efforts can be made to connect it and make it feel connected, one being the proposed rail stop here. That can serve as the quickest way to connect those in the stadium area to downtown by providing quick and immediate access back to Tower City Center and the heart of Downtown. Other things can be done such as redeveloping various sections of this area to continue the momentum of downtown and make the separation the bridge causes to not seem so abrupt. You can also give this area a road diet and add things to the street that give people a multi modal way to traverse downtown. Do this right and people won't even realize how cut off this area is. But as I said the quickest way would be to add that proposed RTA rail stop here and quickly connect people. EDIT: I re-read KJP's story and this stadium sits closer to Canal road than Ontario so it would transition easily to Bedrocks riverfront development, so in a sense it is surrounding by development current and future.
  14. Sorry I have to go off topic quickly, this view has so many low-rise warehouse and 1 story buildings but is so underutilized. I would love to see some sort of program that turns this stretch into a walkable are that contain small businesses, restaurants and bars. Make it open to one lane with a BRT light line with protected bus only lanes with raised curbs to separate it from the street on the side. With the double tree hotel there, the new Erieview hotel/restaurant and being the immediate area that serves the convention center, it would be a tourist magnet, especially with its proximity to downtown. To bring it back on topic this renovation needs an area like this to be reinvigorated and honestly could be the Catalyst for it. With a high end hotel/brand such as the W you'd want your surrounding area to be a reflection of the brand.
  15. Essentially he said that the Browns announcing their plans to leave downtown and hoping public funding follows is a fantasy and he hasn't seen "A case for support, financially or otherwise." The story also mentions that Ronayne doubled down on his August pledge not to provide county funds for a move to Brook Park and how the he mentions the other commitments that are already weighing on the county finances.
  16. Ahhh that makes a lot of sense, thank you.
  17. I have a random question. What exactly made the Red Line cars age faster than the LRV cars? Being 10 years newer it seemed like it would be the opposite, but I remember reading that the restoration they did to them sped up the aging process. What possibly could have happened in that restoration that could have caused that? A restoration should, if anything, EXTEND a vehicles life.
  18. Do you know what the parking situation is? Is it a 1:1 parking situation or less than that?
  19. This building has sat vacant for around 15 years and in bad shape for 10. The redevelopment of it goes to show that a building can be rehabbed if the effort is put in.
  20. Can we work with the Metroparks for a waterfront or even just riverfront taxi loop? It would be some go straight from West to East bank but also some that also loop to certain sections of the river like the Peninsula and maybe Voinovich park etc.
  21. I know it's not as simple as I'm about to make it seem but since the Browns balked at the City's proposal can Cleveland just use some of that funding to complete the vision for the Soccer stadium?. Some of the money can be used to close the public financing gap and the rest (or some) can be used for hotels and residential to surround it. That activates and extends downtown while securing our new futbol team.
  22. I feel like the One University Circle developers should feel offended. Best way to strike back is to build a 350' building on the parking lot on the corner of Stokes and Euclid.
  23. I will say that dealing with an NBA arena is definitely easier than an NFL stadium. Easier to find new land, less greedy politics, and typically NBA arenas are similar to MLB Stadiums in the aspect of they tend to favor renovations until the arena itself is simply obsolete.
  24. The irony of all of this lakefront talk is that it was Haslam that really initiated the lastest iteration of plans.
  25. I'm glad we have a Mayor that knows to not put all his eggs in one basket. Downtown will be fine, it was fine from 96-98 and will be fine now.
