Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
I can see University Circle becoming our Midtown in Atlanta. Due to demand, it has high rises that mimic downtown but due to better layout, planning etc. is the more vibrant neighborhood. If we're being honest although Downtown contains more people University Circle seems more "alive" consistently throughout the day.

If Cleveland didn't let its housing stock get so outdated to the point where its better to demolish than renovate we probably wouldn't be at this crossroads. I am of the belief that if you provided updated/new housing options for people to buy or even rent then we wouldn't have seen such a large exodus of people to the suburbs (yes people would leave due to schools etc.). People want a nice house and attractive neighborhood to live in for them and their family, the suburbs, due to them not experiencing disinvestment like Cleveland, offers that. If we would have been able to keep our neighborhoods stable by offering better housing options over time we could focus solely on market rate housing. Since we didn't we now have to replace OLD housing stock that still remains affordable to keep existing residents (we do have a poverty rate in the 30% range, lets not forget) while working to build attractive market rate/luxury housing to those that are more financially stable which leads to higher property values etc.

This also makes me wonder when all of the sweeping changes with zoning and streamlining the permit process in Cleveland goes into effect. Along with interest rates this plays a major role in how many projects get off the ground from everything we've recently read.

Well said. We just read a story about how Cleveland needs new housing badly, not market rate, not affordable, housing in general. We aren't in the position to favor one over the other we need everything we can get. As long as it is designed and integrated well that is what I care about.

Exterior wise, $1.2 Billion doesn't get you much. The exterior renderings are nice, looks like the major focus was the club area though which sucks.

I went to the Medley's website and it stated that there are only 4 available units left. At the same time they are offering 2 free months of rent for no Clinic employees and 4 months free for Clinic employees so I'm not sure if it is going well or terribly.

This is my favorite long term project, it really is injecting so much life into a block that lacked it completely. Plus now we have a mini skyline.

I would also like to see why the white population that finally began growing in Glenville and Hough is now shrinking. Also why is Tremont shrinking despite a lot of recent projects.

When you have an underfunded transit system due to a lack of interest by the state and are located in a shrinking/stagnant county you get an inadequate transit system. Obviously there are other factors but that plays a part into where we are at. Also due to that lack of funding (and lack of forward thinking) our antiquated infrastructure is no longer built to carry 100,000 passengers in one day. Even with the new trains, due to being much smaller, essentially becoming all light rail, until we have enough trains to unify the system we won't have that type of capacity.

I already find the Blue/Green Line trains to be very narrow, maybe it is because I ride the red line a lot, (but I do find the Breda trains to be nicer) but to see the Siemens trains to be EVEN smaller makes me hate the decision even more to not have the seating along the windows. Keeping the current seating configuration is going to make the train ride seem so cramped, especially for a man like me who is 6ft 4in and already is forced to sit facing the aisle.

The most interesting thing to me is the increase of Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic population in Glenville, Hough, and a few other traditionally black neighborhood’s. The increase in diversity is welcomed. Still sucks that almost all neighborhoods including Tremont lost population.

Columbus LinkUS BRT
I've always thought this, Columbus has the population and density to support light rail. Although the BRT will be able to extend further rail to me will always be a better option, especially when it comes to capacity.
