  1. I know it's not your intent but please lets not start the conversation of affordable and market rate along Lorain back up again.
  2. Ahhhh okay, thank you.
  3. Wait I'm confused, the Downtown Cleveland population is 5,400? What is the 20,000 number that everyone touted? That is a drastic difference.
  4. I'm assuming you're talking about Axis @ Ansel, since the high rise is abandoned, it was completed in 2020. I would assume occupancy is doing well since it serves CWRU students.
  5. This will transform the feel of that section inside of Hough tremendously.
  6. The stark difference between the development philosophy Dan Gilbert and Jimmy Haslem (Downtown vs. Suburbs) has been documented on here. My question is why don't we do the renovation and then sell a continuous chunk of City owned land to him develop in Jimmy World. Dan Gilbert is building the riverfront couldn't we toss him the pit or the muni lot or both?
  7. The placement of the SHW building on Superior causes an issue where it blocks either 200 PS or sometimes Key Tower (most of it). It's unfortunate honestly, like the angle from Irishtown bend show it blocking one of the two aforementioned buildings.
  8. I want to make a comment about the new smart code and zoning laws. What THE F**K IS THE POINT OF THEM IF CITY COUNCIL CAN CIRCUMVENT THEM WITH A VOTE. Something is fishy about that old CVS into a gas station development, he is going to hard for it even though the planning commission and his RESIDENTS said they didn't want it.
  9. Like I said once that new fleet is in full swing the new lines they mentioned (Brown, Purple, Orange etc ) Would be EXTREMELY useful compared to the current layout and seems simple to implement since they would use existing lines.
  10. I didn't even notice that, but I would say compared to other cities, especially in the South and Midwest (Kansas City I'm looking at you), we didn't go overboard with our Downtown Highway system thankfully.
  11. Ahhhhh the 1950's when every building was full of soot and dirt from all of those booming factories and industries. True Americana.
  12. One thing, I wouldn't say we are "bleeding population" anymore. The last estimate showed that we lost 150 people last year, we essentially have flattened out and are in position for growth within the next few years. Maintaining our existing entertainment options and building on them is definitely important but at the same time I don't think that Jimmy World getting built in Brookpark is going to trigger a great migration to that area. Downtown Cleveland will always be the more popular between the two especially with Millennials and Gen Z (not all obviously). We have done a good job of maintaining steady growth in population DT, having better programming, and attracting events. Speaking of events, I still feel Rocket Mortgage Field House would still be competitive. Yes the stadium would be newer but the cost to book the venue would be higher so the ROI would be harder to achieve. Also the accessibility would come into play as well. No offense, you approach with more of a glass half empty view when it comes to Cleveland so I'm not expecting you to agree but Downtown Cleveland will be okay if the Browns left or stayed. If they left the focus would just shift to creating an actual neighborhood instead of entertainment area.
  13. I'm joking but kind of serious when I say this but, will the Smart Code effect the Cleveland Clinic and their 376ft setbacks?
  14. Tbh it annoys me when people move to cities and complain when city things happen in the city that you CHOSE to move to.
  15. This especially.
  16. Atlanta may be the strangest large city. The Downtown area is awful but Midtown is what Downtown should be. The highways are packed but tthe street traffic is very light it is a very backwards city.
  17. Urban Renewal advocates thought the same thing, that turned out great for Cleveland.
  18. There was supposed to be a 34 story addition to this building???? Edit: Ahhhhh so they said they were going to build an addition to raise the valuation of the building but never really planned to, Kossouf is taking notes as we speak.
  19. The Cleveland Retail thread never includes new stores opening just closures and sadness.
  20. Comparing European urban areas to U.S ones always will lead to the American ones looking worse outside of a handful. Europe has different philosophies, history and politics when it comes to their urban centers, they built on them instead of destroying them to attract those that left. It is night and day.
  21. That would be a fantastic option as well in a perfect world as it sits perfectly between Superior and Little Italy station. I feel a more realistic option would be to finally fix the East Cleveland portion of the Healthline and build median stations and work with Cleveland and East Cleveland to do REAL signal prioritization. Speaking of which, if Mayor Bibb is such a fan of 15 minute cities, why hasn't he advocated heavily/called for the activation of the signal priority system we know the Healthline is capable of?
  22. I like the idea of a (well designed) walkway, I just feel that this stations proximity to a busy section of University Circle is too great to go unutilized. I also would love if the RTA implemented elements of that green line station like warming stations and informational displays. Hopefully stations receive an update with real time tracking at stations once we receive our first set of trains.
  23. Standalone Gucci stores are opening in every Midwest City except Cleveland it seems 😭😂
  24. FIVE. HUNDRED. THIRTY-SIX. PARKING SPACES???? EXCUSE ME?
