  1. I feel like they definitely have opened a can of worms with the $600 million to the Browns.
  2. This brings up a question I have, with that Multimodal station getting proposed on the Lakefront, wouldn't the Waterfront Line be the one serving that station? If so I would hope that the city would pressure the RTA to restore full service because that would be a MASSIVE waste of money, especially if we don't become a mini hub for the Amtrak expansion.
  3. $3.6 Billion for a development and some how they'll say we don't have the budget to include that.
  4. If they are poaching you're expecting me to believe we can support ANOTHER lifestyle center in the region? (Brook Park). Beachwood needs to fight back.
  5. That sounds like something off of a movie.
  6. By this time we'll have the new trains and updated stations, tracks, and signaling. With that said we'll be fine (hopefully). I wouldn't know though because I'm not riding 30 minutes on the train, ending at a station that isn't even connected to go to an overpriced football game.
  7. As I mentioned before, Cleveland's first Renaissance happened after the Browns left the state, not the city or region the STATE. It forced Cleveland to be creative and lean on other areas of entertainment to maintain momentum and visitors. On top of that, we are in a better position leadership wise, growth wise (especially Downtown specifically), and with the Lakefront being in the hands of a Nonprofit we now have access to money and resources that we didn't have before. That piece is major, we have people in place that ACTUALLY want something to happen there and moves have been made for this to happen. Cleveland probably already had a feeling this was going to happen and I'm sure they planned for this in advance. Cleveland was alright then and it will be alright now.
  8. That side had camera's on it and it also served as the side where the fireworks went off, so that can be the reason. But 57,791 is a great number, Downtown Cleveland was GRIDLOCKED, beautiful to see (Mainly because I rode the red line there). Also it amazes me with how grid locked it was when Downtown is technically over built road wise.
  9. I've been thinking and I came up with 2 conclusions. 1. If the WFL is going to be a part time train I'd rather it run from 5 PM - 2 AM to serve some rush hour traffic and Nightlife for the flats. Given how much downtown puts parking restrictions in busy areas (which I really don't understand especially after the new parking system), this could be a good connector to serve red line riders traveling Downtown. I feel that would be a better use than a ghost train from 9 AM- 7 PM. It can also continue to serve for special events. 2. If cost is an issue I'd rather discontinue the green line and invest in the development of the WFL. Given how much it was used in the past there is no reason it can't reach those heights again. I'd rather keep it but IF something has to go that like can because it has better immediate use than the Green line.
  10. I love smaller human scale developments like this, especially if they have their own unique look. IMO five of this next to each other create a better built environment than one large development (obviously minus the difference in residential size).
  11. I think BP will be attractive to West Siders (Initially) and Browns die hard fans but outside of that I don't see it being filled. East Siders will go to Pinecrest, Legacy Village, Eton and the Van Aken District. West siders will go to Crocker Park and Strongsville. A development of this magnitude should be centralized or close to centralized for it to work, you'd need REGIONAL support for it to make sense. I know I won't be traveling 30+ Minutes for a $15 burger when I can stay east or go Downtown and explore other things when I'm done. This will be similar to Tower City Center in the 90's, it will be the shiny new toy initially but as that wears off, convenience will win out every time. Their biggest hope would be that they have spill over from their Berea Development and overnight travelers from the airport.
  12. I toured it when I was looking at college's to attend back in 2011 and at that time I thought it was very well maintained so I too am shocked.
  13. I'm a fan of this proposal. Haslam can benefit from some parking revenue on game days, I don't have issues with the funding sourcing, and I like the tight timeline because I feel even the city realizes that he is dragging his feet.
  14. Browns stadium always needs Emergency repairs no matter the year.
  15. Let's be honest. A lakefront property on the edge of a booming Downtown in terms of residential growth is a lot more desirable than North Collinwood or Euclid to investors. Also in the past, Cleveland as a whole was stagnant so that plays a role in a lack of development on that land.
  16. Might as well follow the trend and sell it to a developer that can potentially turn it into student apartments on one half and luxury apartments on the top half.
  17. With people saying that it takes 20+ years for it to fully close an airport (properly) I feel that we need to start the process as soon as we can.
  18. I just watched a video on Meigs and Daley destroying it (ITSHISTORY channel) and the similarities to both airports in terms of usage is strikingly similar. As far a Daley he essentially leveraged the 9/11 terrorism attacks as his reasoning for closing, which soften the blow when it came to public reaction. He also took an ask for forgiveness later approach. The FAA fined them $1 Million(?) and a couple of other penalties but nothing extremely serious (According to the video).
  19. Washington DC type of effect
  20. When the concrete is patched on Euclid doesn't RTA do it? If so wouldn't they had been the one to fill in the brick work?
  21. 1.8 MILLLION SQUARE FEET????? MY GOODNESS!!!
  22. I wonder how this will go over and how successful this district will be when East Cleveland has abysmal city services, an integral part of what makes people comfortable with laying roots.
  23. Combining this with the original Convention Center what is the total square footage?
  24. Easily the worst Dave's Market from the overall condition standpoint. Hopefully this puts it in line with the modern Dave's look.
