Cleveland: East Side Neighborhood Development
I think the stretch of 105th-OC is similar to putting a BRT Lite route along West 25th, it is pretty lengthy. I'm starting the route from Dupont (where the current 10 bus route ends/starts) that allows the bus to pick up the residents who are more likely than not to have a car and benefit from the potential new jobs on the Corridor. With 105th being only one lane in each direction for a stretch the Bus only lane will start along Rockefeller park to the edge of the OC where it turns around. I don't think that an express bus would be as efficient as a BRT lite bus along 105 due to getting stuck in traffic throughout the different neighborhoods etc. I believe a Southeast-UC circulator route would be good on that side of the city with spaced out stops due to the complexity of what that route may be.

Cleveland: East Side Neighborhood Development
All of this Opportunity Corridor "Site Ready" talk and plans makes me want to advocate for a 105-OC BRT Lite system. With all of the expected influx of workers along this stretch and the mentioning of 25% of residents not having cars makes this the perfect option. Build bus only lanes with raised curbs in sections to deter cars from using it, add the illusive signal prioritization to speed it up, and utilize the tap to pay system that is coming to make boarding faster. To me its not hard and is a no brainer. I work along this corridor and live along it as well. I would love to have an option to take a quick transit trip to work and back home, especially since the county offers monthly passes for $19 per month which is half the price that I pay for parking. The train station is too far away to use that as an option so this would be the next best option.

That is why I don't care to host one. Most people don't realize how much of a raw deal cities get when they host one, they just see a ton of people and assume a region booms from it. To be honest it is similar to the Olympics on a smaller scale.

How did we let ourselves get cheated by that much? Lol

Cleveland: Population Trends
I've been thinking. University Circle is booming and a lot of that has to do with student population. I recently read that we only have 1 out of every 200 students stay when they graduate. When I sat and thought about it I don't think University Circle or surrounding neighborhoods have created a district or area that is enticing to those students to stay once they graduate. Yes University Circle is a nice place to lay your head but I don't think it serves the younger demographic as well as it could. Not everyone wants to live or can afford to live in Ohio City, Tremont or other West side neighborhoods. Providing an East Side alternative to that INSIDE the city is paramount in keeping the college students here.

It doesn't look too bad overall in person. I ride by it everyday.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I feel like it is 3 years because they want to get this ridiculous idea done before a new administration comes in (unless they try to hijack the office). I also think they don't hate Cleveland I think they hate the cities (blue cities) that took a stance against their ridiculous demands and ideals.

In a time where the County is facing budget issues, I can see them just moving over here. It would suck but I wouldn't blame them.

If DeWine is willing to hold strong and he reverts back to the renovation method then I owe Bibb and Ronayne a beer. It's amazing to see what being strong and unified in your approach can do.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
It's funny because it all is about the unique layout of our downtown street grid. We are tied for 4th in the Midwest for buildings over 500 feet with Columbus. We have the most buildings over 300 feet (22) in Ohio and I believe the tallest skyline overall We have the 27th tallest skyline in the US.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
In this video Los Angeles recently received their order of 64 HR4000 Series Heavy Rail trains for a total of $230 Million. We are ordering 60 Light Rail for $393 million. Did prices skyrocket that much for such a dramatic difference? Seems like we got a bad deal. Edit: I see they ordered them back in 2016 but that is still a massive difference.

Idk where to put this but I think it's safe to say Council member Michael Gallagher HATES Cleveland (or has a strong dislike) https://www.ideastream.org/government-politics/2025-03-25/cuyahoga-county-votes-to-join-downtown-cleveland-inc-for-first-time-since-its-creation-in-2006

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Build a development that is worth traveling to and people will come. If Tower City was already dead in 2018, but they still saw 2,250,542 riders than that shows that people are willing to ride. Now you have to ask, is it really a Tower City issue or have people just lost faith in GCRTA rapid transit because it's not like Tower City was the only station to plummet. Ohio City West-25th, arguably the station with the most to offer as far as surrounding amenities, dropped by 112,049 riders compared to 2018. Also if Tower City is an Amtrak Mini-Hub you'd have an influx of people coming in from Chicago, New York etc. so that would all just be a net gain in foot traffic since Amtrak doesn't serve Tower City right now.

I actually like the use of it as a goodwill. I feel like this won't stop it from being redeveloped into something larger in the future and it is something that can be useful to the entire community.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
This is something that I've mentioned in the past. I'm too young to had been able to experience that era (I was 3 years old when the Browns left) but being a nerd and looking back it seems that Cleveland began focusing on its downtown neighborhoods and attractions more to draw people Downtown due to the inability to rely on the Cleveland Browns games. Downtown seemed to have a year round buzz and I feel because the city felt a need to fill an economic void they buckled down more. It is like when someone who is in a financial bind will do whatever it takes to make money to pay the bills and keep the lights on.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I do find it interesting yet frustrating that Gilbert essentially embraces a rail component back home but won't consider it for the property he owns that literally was built to serve rail. I can't call it favoritism but boy the differences in how he treats both cities are beginning to become stark. This is especially true when you realize he offered subsidized rents to national retailers like H&M at his Detroit developments to attract them downtown but won't do the same here.
