  1. Isn't the Blade sign supposed to read CPD? Or does CDP stand for Cleveland Department of Police? Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

  4. Which I feel like is a formality because why approve money for something you don't want the city to have. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

  6. So I have a question. From KJP's article, it looks like since the rumored trains we are getting are smaller than the subway style trains we have, they have to alter the platforms both vertically and horizontally. I was wondering, if we ever order subway trains again (just a hypothetical) say similar to these in I believe Toronto. Would the new alterations put us in line with the national standard for rail car platform height, making it easier to just buy off the shelf? Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  7. This is actually heartbreaking to read in a way. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  8. 2 things: I wish they used a darker brick color to match the building and I think it would hold up better VS our weather, just my taste. I think K&D definitely learned from their terminal Tower conversion because these look so much better, I love these! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Where are the streetcars coming from? I guess you can use the order we have but where is the money coming from to lay the infrastructure? RTA is scrapping up crumbs to be able to get new trains ordered on top of having to figure out how to reconfigure the platforms to make sure it’s unified properly. You have to be realistic with these types of things and until ridership on our already existing 3/4 lines picks up substantially it doesn’t warrant a new line being added. This allows this space to be reactivated, could be quite the attraction for the region and tourists if done well and connects downtown to a major upcoming project, Irishtown Bend. I think it’s a win win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I won’t hold my breath. Famicos has a few projects that they are supposed to be starting that haven’t broken ground yet, most notably the senior housing on East 125th and Superior. We will see what happens with the apartments on Chester (Chester 81?). My point is they aren’t that large so I don’t think they are capable of juggling so many projects. 11. Obviously this is a long ways away but when GCRTA gets the new rail cars do you think it would be a good idea to offer a week or at least a weekend of free rail service? I think it would be a good way to introduce the new cars to people, show the new flexibility of the unified system, and show the new found reliability as well. After (At the time the new cars will be introduced) 40 years of the same old cars and the negative stigma attached to them, this may be needed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Love this quote from the article. Sums up NIMBYers nicely in my opinion. Pretty much finding any reason, even incorrect ones, to justify not building something instead of coming out and saying the real reason of "I just don't like it" Casting shadows is probably the worse reason I’ve heard to oppose a development. 13. I mean while I overall like the (Canadian) Design, I had a gripe about the seating. While I’m aware of the seating configuration in the new train being the industry standard, I still can view the new ones as a step back in terms of comfort. If I get to experience soft comfortable seats why would I want to go backwards? I don’t mind the seating along the wall though, I think that’s more practical than what we have now. I still love that we are getting new trains and I’ll definitely still ride I will miss the subway style cars of the red line but progress is progress and I’ll adjust. I am excited to get modern interiors with updated way finding and next stop indicators. With the updated but smaller cars I wonder will RTA go back to the single cars they had on the red line rail or will they continue the two car setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. While I'm happy about the new trains obviously, I'm torn on the design. The Canadian version is definitely the better design that San Francisco and what I hope we would choose. The interior looks uncomfortable compared to the red and blue lines, hopefully we can maintain some sort of similar seating. I will miss the subway style trains we have now but I understand why we are going this route, a unified system makes complete sense and is very welcomed. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

  18. I believe that is the plan. Edit: It looks like they are essentially intervention specialists, As well as there to alleviate the fare responsibility from drivers to speed up service. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/gcrta-debuts-transit-ambassador-program-to-improve-community-engagement Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  19. So I was watching a YouTube channel on how North American buses suck compared to our European counterparts. Essentially they were saying they had European friends visit him in Canada (home to new flyer etc.) and they were talking about how uncomfortable the ride and seats were and how badly the bus rattled when it hit bumps. That got me wondering if in addition to people not wanting to ride public transportation such as RTA etc. due to negative perceptions, do people also not want to ride because it overall just isn't a pleasant experience. If the bus riding experience was much more pleasant and comfortable would that entice (some) to ride? Obviously convenience makes a difference but I never thought about that being a factor. I always thought all buses globally rode the same. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  20. I was having a conversation with someone and they mentioned that the influx of local retailers and the exodus of national retailers are intertwined with each other. The local retailers are tied to some sort of grant that Bedrock received that had a requirement of sorts to have local retailers there. The exodus of national retailers is apparently tied to Bedrock wanting to increase their rent to offset the loss of charging cheaper rent to the local retailers. I don't know how accurate that is though. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  21. Don't buy in the city if you oppose progress in the city. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  22. I think this is great, every great city has attractions that serves both as useful to it's residents and also something tourists would love to see and utilize when they visit and if done correctly this could be it. Tie in creative Easter eggs and designs that pay homage to its past and you have a home run. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
  23. Tbh I never understood why Euclid 120th Street station was closed. It dropped you off right on Euclid and is walking distance away from Uptown. Yes I know Little Italy station exists and it’s one of our few stations that serves a neighborhood directly, it FEELS slightly separated from UC and seems like it’s designed to serve Little Italy residents and visitors and not UC. I don’t think having both open would have cut down on efficiency they could’ve both coexisted, you just needed to renovate it to make it more attractive. Euclid 120th would’ve been the stop to directly serve University Circle and could have been scheduled in a way that sync’s you with the Healthline so by the time you get there (say 2-3 minutes before the bus arrives) you have a direct connection to your apartment, office, favorite restaurant etc. Combine that with giving the healthline signal prioritization and the 93/105 transit corridor coming and you have a very efficient way to utilize transit to serve arguably Clevelands most booming neighborhood. 25. Is Ohio finally on board for Amtrak expansion? State ‘strongly considering’ seeking federal money for new train service CLEVELAND, Ohio – The state of Ohio is “strongly considering” applying for federal dollars that could lead to expanded passenger rail service throughout the state, including establishment of a new route connecting Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. Meanwhile, officials in Northeast Ohio are definitely planning to pursue funding that could establish Cleveland as an Amtrak mini-hub, with more frequent service to Chicago, New York City, Washington, D.C. and other cities. The source of the funding for both potential expansions is a new federal inititave, dubbed the Corridor Identification and Development Program, part of $66 billion in additional money for rail service included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, passed by Congress in late 2021. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/01/is-ohio-finally-on-board-for-amtrak-expansion-state-strongly-considering-seeking-federal-money-for-new-train-service.html
