  1. Oh I must've missed it, every time I ride by here to go home it's empty inside and out.
  2. State lawmakers writing this quote down for future reference
  3. Going back to the discussions regarding the old First Energy site, I see a lot of similarities to that and what a Chicago developer planned for the Bears stadium. It is close to Downtown, right off a lakefront highway (I know lakeshore drive technically isn't a highway, at least downtown), and sits close to an existing neighborhood. Turn those high rises into 5-10 story buildings (residential, offices etc.) and BOOM Haslam can get what he wants and the Browns stay in Cleveland. Extend the WFL line as a part of the development and we have direct connection to Downtown that can take people to our re-envisioned lakefront after the games. Granted the Bears don't like the site saying it is narrow but this is a good way to envision what that site can look like.
  4. Short and more than likely generic. I'm all for infill but along a main road I would like it to be 2 stories taller at least. I like that it isn't an extremely wide mega building though. This would fit perfectly if there were traditional 2 story Cleveland buildings surrounding it like these.
  5. A dead 9-5 neighborhood along prime riverfront space with no option to change that in the future is just as bad if not worse. At least empty spaces can be filled or contain pop up shops.
  6. I always feel there should at least be space for retail included in these developments because at least in the future you can fill them when the time comes vs. never having the opportunity to.
  7. My issue is they better have something that immediately replaces this because if not what was the point.
  8. The Haslams have committed to privately investing $2 billion-plus in a dome stadium and mixed-use development project a mile outside Cleveland city limits, with the intention of trying to cement the team’s future in Northeast Ohio. They convinced Even Adam Schefter to talk about it lol.
  9. My thoughts to make this area vibrant: Save these human scaled historic buildings and add residential with retail spaces Build a couple more to the corner (tear down the gas station) Build similarly sized (4-5 stories) brick buildings on the parking lots by the FEB Waterfront station Add landscaping along the sidewalk and raised, protected bike lanes next to the sidewalk Now you have a vibrant neighborhood that has character, is walkable and connects to one of your most vibrant districts.
  10. I just find these things INSANE: 2.4 Billion isn't enough money to include a viable transit option in this project 2.4 Billion wouldn't even be CONSIDERED for rail expansion to connect neighborhoods even though it would have a bigger economic impact compared to this. $600 Million was given to Haslam for a money pit even though Ohio has much more pressing issues.
  11. No this was on a Saturday. The development is disconnected from the rest of the city by a freeway, the residential component is struggling and the Under Armor headquarters that was supposed to be massive was downsized to one buildings and repurposed an old Walmart.
  12. I saw this a meant to post this here. Once they said it was to be like another city in a city I knew exactly why it flopped. This stuff never works.
  13. With Ohio having 3 cities with large regions that contains influential businesses and leaders collaboration like this could make the state extremely strong.
  14. Tbh if we don't get NASA but continue this type of regional collaboration the sky is the limit for attracting future big name companies/organizations.
  15. Oh yeah Loiter has closed at this location and has moved to the old Wendy's down Euclid Avenue. Such a weird situation.
  16. I would love these types of home to be built on streets that have traditional Cleveland 4 suitors or walk-ups
  17. I just asked about a streamlined process in the zoning thread. I thought the variance process was supposed to be fixed due to developers complaining about them and the extra cost. Also I hope this doesn't slow down anything.

Have all of the new zoning codes been implemented city wide? https://signalcleveland.org/new-more-flexible-cleveland-zoning-code-pilot-wins-planning-commission-approval/
  19. Wait it did? lol
  20. Three questions, where were those fountains, why did they disappear and when did the Arcade start falling off? I've never seen it busy like that besides a special event.
  21. I think monorails could be successful as a circulator of sorts connecting you to various attractions but I think it is stuck between being cheaper than rail but more expensive than a busi without much added benefit vs having a bus with dedicated bus lanes
  22. Which makes it strange to me that there has been no projects to change that or if there have been proposals they've struggled to get off the ground. There has been VERY little spill over development from UC or downtown. Over the past 17 years I would've imagined they would have slowly built from downtown to UC and by now it could've been a decent amount of vibrancy and connectivity.
  23. “It’s a 15 to 20 year solve without a solve for capital repairs." 15 to 20 years from now the stadium would be 41-46 years old, that would be much more justifiable to request a better stadium and gives time for Burke to open up.
  24. They (Browns) already played their hand stating that they aren't leaving NEO. Could they pull and Oakland A's? Absolutely but I don't think they'll leverage that. But Chris Ronayne would do political suicide by greenlighting $600 Million while the county is facing a budget shortfall, and cuts in funding due to Federal funding uhhhhhh "issues".
