  1. Speaking of growth though. According to this chart, Cleveland has only been shrinking for 5-6 years ??.
  2. The losses in the Black population is the reason why the city will not grow in any substantial way in the foreseeable future. I truly don't see (as someone that lives on the East side in the predominantly black neighborhoods) making a true effort to slow it. Circle North is not it btw.
  3. Wouldn't it be easier to just move the development to have the entrance sit closer to the station?
  4. That era of Tower City had around 18,000 less residents living downtown and had the disadvantage of not having free parking, like this development should have.
  5. I wonder if any incentive or fare discount could be implented by RTA and the development to encourage train usage to this development. I'm just not sure how it would work, parking validation discounts are simple to implement but transit fare discounts due to shopping there would have to get creative. I would love to see some sort of collaboration though. This would allow the suburbanites, those who choose not to drive and those who can't afford to drive a chance to enjoy this while boosting ridership. I believe tourist would hop on the train from North Coast Harbor station to here if they were informed enough.
  6. I'm not understanding where they are getting their numbers from. 3,385 Residents? Is this the year 2000?
  7. I'm not sure whether to give the post a sad face for the first part or a thumbs up for the second sentence lol.
  8. No. I didn't mean to put attached but it has substantial residential eventually being built on the existing parking lot and the old sears.
  9. Abercrombie, Buckle, Gap, Baby Gap, Godiva, Pottery Barn, AND the Sperry store have closed in this month. I wonder if a plan similar to a Polaris (has a Dave and Busters attached to attract the family demographic back) would help them out. Also the Richmond Mall development coming down the pipeline which has residential attached may also poach from them. Beachwood may have to enact a similar plan as them (keep the mall though).
  10. Going back to RTA buying 34 Heavy Rail cars, I've never been through this process before. They said in the story we won't see the new cars for 3-4 years but will we see the actual model on display sooner?
  11. RTA Takes Steps to Replace Rail Cars Cleveland RTA takes steps to replace rail cars CLEVELAND (WJW)-- RTA officials say they’ve taken the first steps toward bringing in dozens of new rail cars, which are badly needed to keep the rapid trains running. The RTA board started the process on Tuesday to bring in 34 new cars. The agency has pieced together funding from ODOT, the local government group known as NOACA, and more.
  12. For some reason I thought it was the opposite my mistake ?
  13. I may have missed it but instead of shooting the R&D development out to the suburbs why doesn't the city pitch the opportunity corridor? A good amount of land, it could be built to the rail line, an attractive trait to younger workers and it would serve as an anchor development for the area. This would lead to other development and repopulation occuring in an area that has seen better days. A win-win.
  14. A side note, due to the parking garage potentially losing parking spaces to the residents of this building, I would hope that the city relax's on the Prospect avenue parking restrictions, I think they're dumb and some of the most restrictive in the city.
  15. I'm not a fan of this plan. I love buildings like this and the character as well as presence they bring is irreplaceable.
  16. The comment about no One University Circle part 2 stinks but is good at the same time due to a development going up somewhere close. That corner of Euclid and Stokes could bring energy to a relatively dead section of Euclid, pedestrian wise. Outside of high school students it's pretty slow.
  17. The NCAA has an event this yea, the mens March Madness tournaments is hosting the 1st and 2nd rounds.
  18. Baby Gap has closed in Beachwood Mall and Gap is having a store closing sale. That's quite a big space to lose for Beachwood.
  19. I always say that when it comes to design, Cleveland plays it conservative entirely too much. We are entering a new age of Cleveland and I feel the designs should reflect that.
  20. I love the design as is but I feel it will go the way of Church + State and keep the same design but "tone down" the color scheme to more neutral colors.
  21. I honestly keep checking to see what retailer is going in this space, IIRC there were some hints that some interesting and pleasant names on the potential list.
  22. Oh it's literally lit, I thought it was gold at first lol.
  23. Nothing major when it comes to progress just an update.
