  1. Some active construction going on in the large vacant storefront next to Footlocker. No coming soon sign so must be office space.
  2. RTA asks public if it should design service for maximum frequency or geographic coverage CLEVELAND, Ohio – Should transit in Cuyahoga County maximize frequent service on its most highly traveled routes? Or spread service as widely as possible while sacrificing frequency? The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority is looking for responses to those alternatives in an online survey and meetings over the next month. The new survey and meetings are the latest steps in a yearlong “system design’’ process aimed at guiding RTA’s strategic planning for the next decade and beyond. The public is invited to respond to a pair of starkly different maps showing how RTA’s bus and rapid transit routes would look if configured to suit each alternative. The maps assume no increase in RTA’s current funding. The agency’s 2019 budget is $292 million. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2019/05/rta-asks-public-if-it-should-design-service-for-maximum-frequency-or-geographic-coverage.html I'm in favor of high frequency, if you want to be able to compete with the like of Uber and Lyft you need to focus on where your strengths are ridership wise and enhance that. People want to be able to get to their destination as fast as possible and if they can get people on the bus in 15 minutes or less it puts them in a better position.
  3. Waited all these years for an underwhelming design, great.
  4. I'm literally having this conversation with my friend from college, a Boston transplant. He says Cleveland is still missing that WOW factor, something you only can find in Cleveland. I told him that Cleveland is playing catch up and went decades without true development and that I prefer a well rounded city that offers a variety of amenities and not just one big one. That is what Cleveland, especially University Circle (see how I brought it back on topic lol) offers.
  5. Flats East Bank project moving forward with design approval of riverfront restaurants, bars CLEVELAND, Ohio – A proposal for new riverfront restaurants and bars in the Flats will head to City Planning Commission on Friday after winning final approval, and praise, from a city design-review committee Thursday. The latest phase of the Flats East Bank development will add two buildings with four different restaurant, bar and nightclub concepts on a chunk of land abutting the Cuyahoga River. The development site sits between Alley Cat Oyster Bar and FWD Day and Nightclub. After a design-review committee sent the proposal back to the drawing board last month, HSB Architects returned with a plan that earned a commendation from the committee for the design evolution and how it matches the Flats’ aesthetic. The reworked design features corrugated metal facades in three hues. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2019/05/flats-east-bank-project-moving-forward-with-design-approval-of-riverfront-restaurants-bars.html Not sure where I stand on him picking this over condos though. Unless the entire condominium would have included no retail. Then this is the better move.
  6. If you look at the bottom image, those saying they don't like the colors, they actually match those of the apartment building with materials that give a similar vibe to Alley Cat. I think it was a smart touch.
  7. I loved being in this program when I was in high school! That bridge proposal is pretty good!
  8. One small detail that you overlooked was our Kenect has the largest amount of ground floor retail out of all of the new ones at 22K square feet. That's not even including the 48K Sq foot cinema. I don't mind the height, especially when you take into consideration the height of the apartment building down there now. I'd rather them blend better than have a tall tower that's tall just to be well......tall. It will look odd in years down the road. I do wish our kenect had more glass though on the sides, it's not bad but I'm not a fan of the blank wall. I will take more ground floor retail over a tall tower that has very little or no pedestrian activity besides residents coming and going.
  9. Could this be a project where they knock down some walls to make the storefront larger and/or put larger windows in?
  10. Didn't they recently re-do their space in Beachwood?
  11. Oh, yeah I was referencing the Case dorms, I guess even more reason for it to switch threads lol.
  12. How is this in the Uptown neighborhood when this is located on Hough and Ansel, never before has Hough and Ansel been considered in the Uptown neighborhood. Ever.
  13. So just like the Glenville development this isn't UC. I believe this needs its own thread as well or moved to a hough development thread (if there is one)
  14. I don't see a driveway...I actually like that but maybe I grew up and live in a neighborhood with on street parking. It can get annoying on holidays but I think on street parking adds more life to a street.
  15. MyPhoneDead replied to KJP's post in a topic in Mass Transit
So is it a definite development going here? This is an intersection just waiting to boom.
  16. I don't have a problem with this. This is LITERALLY the same concept that Public Square has but with a train through the middle. Most times of the day PS traffic is pretty easy going minus rush hour madness. Looking at Shaker Square the traffic I'll say if Downtown can pull it off without major issue through the day SS can. Plus adding event green space will definitely add life to an area that needs some refreshing.
  17. Might be time to change the name of the thread....
  18. Circle North Update. It actually is a little more advanced than this. All the windows are basically up now.
  19. This is why I shouldn't post anything early in the morning ?‍♂️
  20. Those are similar prices for One University Circle, the max price for Lumen is actually cheaper. The price you pay for new and shiny toys.
  21. That kind of stings. Just a little
  22. Why does the city love black iron fencing so much...
