Apparently, they aren't interested and that's one of the reasons they want to move them away from that major intersection and onto Lee Avenue, a street that honestly has no identity anymore and I guess they are giving it one now. I'm going to reach out again today and hopefully can get something extra if I do I'll report back.

I believe it's some sort of women's center, I'd have to ask him for a refresher and I'll report back. The pushback is from the councilman, he wants to reserve that spot for a development that is interested in mixed-use and have some sort of retail at the bottom, they aren't interested in that. The corner of East 105th and Superior is a prime corner of a major intersection and this is a one-shot deal so they want to reserve it for a development that will get the most potential out of that area and not just something built on it to say it's built. I also asked him to let me know about the neighborhood meetings when they discuss layout and design, I voiced my frustrations to him when it came to the Fisher House and told him how anti-pedestrian it looks. I wasn't aware of the meetings they had in the neighborhood on the Fisher House.

How massive that development is I'd bet my money on the former. I'm hearing rumblings that Volunteers of America now wants to build on the corner of East 105th and Superior, a prime spot. There is push back with that idea though and they want to push VoA on Lee Avenue and create a campus with VA and the Fishers house.

Uptown is just finding what works. The previous group of restaurants, the sit-down restaurants were a revolving door, they weren't working for the demographic. The new iteration the "fast-casual" is what works for the area, an area heavily populated by college students and hospital workers on their break. Those demographics don't have the time )and sometimes the money) to eat in sit-down restaurants, they want their inexpensive food and to go. The fact that MRN has been able to weather the storm, find what works with "fast casual" and still offer some cultural (albeit possibly watered down) options is impressive to me. It is easy to say what an area will be before it's built, you only can truly tell once it goes live and you see how the demographic reacts to it. I could understand the criticism if the area had a massive amount of vacancies, or offered run of the mill options such as McDonald's, Burger King etc., but that is not the case. Most options there are unique restaurants or options you don't hear of very often and the vacancies don't stay vacant very long. Those "fast casual" restaurants are working and most have stuck in their same spot for a couple of years now and I have seen no hint of them leaving. Hell, although it isn't a corporate store, the Verizon is opening in Uptown AFTER they left due to slow business previously, so obviously the success of Uptown is spreading and even national tenants are listening.

At only it's halfway point in height the building feels HUGE, like it's towering over you. I love it.

I don't see why the house needed such a long and tall fence. It's a huge slap in the face to urban development. The house also should've faced front toward 105th with the side and backdoors allowing walking space towards that unfortunate parking lot.

I just wish they would do gateway plaza, the part of the Q that faces Progressive Field. When the All-Star game comes they'll be using every inch of the Q and the gateway plaza section looks extremely outdated with that tiny video screen.

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
The fascination with a target downtown is interesting since there is one 10 minutes away in the Steelyard. Since there is one that close, I don't believe Target will look at Downtown Cleveland as an option due to the population. Can Cleveland support two Targets that are close to each other? Maybe this would be the perfect opportunity to insert the outlet shopping into Downtown Cleveland, 925 Euclid along with JHB, have large enough structures to insert a good amount of outlet retail. It would be unique, accessible due to various transit options including the Healthline, and would be a POSSIBLE destination to 100,000+ people daily. This is a better, more urban option to outlet shopping versus the proposal by the muni lot.

So what bothers me about this stretch is the fisher homes albeit designed backward and not facing the street were bearable until THEY LINED THE STREET WITH A HUGE SIX FOOT+ FENCE! That fence is so disrespectful to urban design that it is crazy. If you put a fence up (which I still hate) a normal size black gate that the Doan apartments have would be better. The white fence they have is disrespectfully large, hopefully, it is temporary but I doubt it.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
This is what I was thinking. He has delivered on apartments, a restaurant and is about to redevelop an abandoned warehouse that no one else was going to touch for more housing. I know this sounds like "take what you can get" but it really is "appreciate what this man is/has done that no other developer has ever done for our lakefront." He even revitalized the long underperforming "colonial" arcades and filled them up, he is working his magic in areas that other people couldn't or wouldn't. Even though it isn't what some may want (some people seem to want a pipe dream of a lakefront on here) it is definitely quality what we are getting albeit a smaller scale.

Downtown Cleveland Architecture
So I will disagree with the time frame @Mov2Ohio mentioned. I would say 1900 - 1940, 1950-1970s architecture disgusts me and is very uninspiring and don't feel very welcoming. 55 PS definitely didn't age well imo and looks out of place positioned around the Big 3. PNC tower has aged very well imo (I believe it was built in the 80s) but the plaza, it's set back from the Euclid and the lack of any retail, takes away from the density/activity of that stretch of Euclid and it doesn't feel very inviting. Side note: I'm actually a fan of Cleveland embracing more glass structures (Hilton, Lumen, hopefully, NuCLEus). To me, it adds a stark contrast to the skyline without looking too tacky and out of place (as long as the actual design is tasteful). Also to me glass structures age pretty well, much better than metal clad buildings or concrete.

Overall I love the new site. Is there a way to adjust your settings to where when you click on a topic that has an unread post, you go to the first unread post? To me, the problem is not building these high-end TOD projects for people that already have cars, or are moving from car loving suburbia, to be real they aren't dropping their cars to catch the train. Honestly take a look at Shaker, they have rail laid smack dab outside of tons of apartments but they run ghost trains. I wish that we had streetcars that rode through areas that traditionally are more transit dependent and can at least be a feeder to the rail lines.- Richmond Heights: Belle Oaks (Richmond Town Square Redevelopment)
