  1. track/cc @ b-tucky and cc @ iit and now running around oc/downtown to stay thin!
  2. Being that many of us on UO are involved in the architecture/urban planning/etc. fields, UO only enhances are performances!

So much character-for better or for worse! That's what great about Cleveland! As I left work last night I stepped outside and W.25th was covered in a blanket of white, glistening snow--appeared to be untouched by foot or car! Now I don't think that's good but it looked surreal...
  4. Nice lunch yesterday. Uh, yeah about karaoke...I don't know what I would be more uncomfortable doing, singing or streaking! Anyways...
  5. I just though extending it out that way would be good to connect any business flyers to downtown/UC/CLE and it could also function as a commuter rail stop for east siders... anyways...
  6. Checked website today and it's been updated to say that the 2008 competition is "coming soon"
  7. Well today's paper had an article about the possibility of Cuy Co. Airport expanding. I'm for keeping Burke open if some serious upgrades happen (ie new passenger terminal for commercial traffic, garages, etc.), making it worth our while to designate such a vast portion of the shoreline to an airport BUT turning Cuy Co. Airport into the city's 2nd airport isn't a bad idea, especially if the Red line could be extended out there. I like how the resident's complain about the expansion b/c the smell of jet fuel is too much right now... Well pardon my French but don't live near a f*cking airport! GEEZ! It's not like this thing sprouted over night! It's been here for years and if you're that ignorant or whatever to live near an airport and complain about fumes and noise, then I hope to God they start bringing in widebodies! New Orleans can only complain so much, after all, what do you expect when you build a city below sea level?! Mother Nature will always win.
  8. On a side note, two NYC expats were eating at Bar Cento last week and were in love with the place-more than I've seen anyone in that restaurant since it opened in October! They also said how impressed they've been with the Cleveland food scene!!! They love it! To all of you "mature" UO members, can you describe the Cleveland food scene 10+/- years ago b/c it seems like the past 5 years have seen a huge increase in the diversity/selection of restaurants in the city! Thanks!
  9. the skyline in the PD photo looked really dense!
  10. Congrats to Cleveland's "newest" resident!
  11. btw saw wicked sunday and it was awesome! it's amazing how the theatre was sold-out but once you walk outside, it's like a few thousand people just vanished! This is another discussion for another topic and time and place. I can't wait until spring to see al fresco dining again!
  12. Maybe it's just me but the dark cabinetry and counters are an easy but bad way to make something look "expensive". I can't imagine one having a lot of natural daylight there either and it just makes things darker than they need to be. Overall it's nice to see this investment come to fruition but it'd be nice to see an end to the suburban model home interior vernacular in such unique spaces. GO EAST 4TH!
  13. I know! A few extra steps and a few extra lost calories never hurt anyone!
  14. Question moderators: Is it possible to merge the other Hopkins News/Expansion thread or has this already been discussed?
  15. We're thrilled about Eaton's decision to stay here but they need to be responsible citizens to CLE AND NEO! Similar idea but different scale with the club wanting to occupy Moda. Sure it would have brought investment to the neighborhood but to the detriment of what? Really, I don't think Eaton's campus will be along the likes of something along 271. People were saying it earlier but maybe Wolstein landed them into his project b/c of the "lifestyle center" feel to it. Maybe they liked that. Lord please do not let it look like Crocker Park but maybe they want more of an interaction with the street than sitting 700 feet in the air? We'll see...
  16. I don't mind "campus" if it's something along the lines of Borneo Sporenburg neighborhood in Amsterdam in terms of captivating design and planning aspect. http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=RNWE,RNWE:2006-21,RNWE:en&q=borneo+sporenburg&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi There's NO WAY someone could/would allow this to mimick Progressive's campus on the east side! I have more faith than that! I wish West 8 or some other "progressive" firm could be brought on to help push the envelope and really make this development and the centennial for Eaton something worth our while. I really want to hold my breath and hope that "campus" can't be taken too literally! Please God!
  17. Rendering or not, it's nice to see Hopkins maturing FINALLY and attempt to contend with the other major hubs in terms of air service and customer service/amenities!
  18. I don't know if you're being sarcastic carolecohen? I wish there were more "boutique" style grocery stores such as in many European cities where you can't plop a huge Giant Eagle or whatever in a few storefronts. Take the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood for instance. It's sort of in the middle of a few grocery stores but placing a "boutique" Giant Eagle would be a nice alternative to driving or Save a lot.

Very nice! I spent a couple weekend in STL for conferences but was stuck downtown. You really captured something special. So many rich cities in the Great Lakes/ Ohio Valley!
  20. Wait MTS! You mentioned a new intl hall opening in 2 years?! Nothing more than what was mentioned months ago right? No images or anything like that?
  21. DEPT STORE FINALLY! PLZ!

Just as an FYI the Gund/Q did quite well-especially during it's early years w/ no Lebron. Up until the lockout in 99? when the Cavs were mediocre yet making the playoffs (albeit losing in the first round year after year), the arena saw crowds around 17,000 +/-. The early 2000s standout as years of empty blue seats but 10/14 years for that arena saw substantial crowds--especially the first 3 and last 3! If the team attracted 11,000 when sucking, don't you think 5,000 would have driven out to Richfield?! Probably. Oh, and really, saying Summit is larger or smaller than Montgomery doesn't strengthen any point. They are what they are.
  23. Maybe they're going to Hopkins now. :-) :|
  24. Yay! A hub airport w/o Duty Free is like a downtown without a McDonalds! Wait a minute :wtf:... Well hopefully there's a duty free shop to strengthen our argument for more and/or consistent intl service even if it's just year round London, Paris, Canada, Mexico/Car. Does this mean no more trolley carts of sunglasses and knick knacks along concourse C?! Let learn for the Europeans and realize that if you can't knock it down and build from scratch, make the inside as nice as possible! What a pleasant/rare suprise this morning on Cleveland.com and no stupid comments yet either!

I wouldn't call a retractable FRICKING roof stadium in the middle of an open field surrounded by the area's umpteenth lifestyle center regionalization! Oh, and what lesser sporting stadiums are there in Cleveland b/c the CSU Wolstein Center is the only thing not used by a pro team but has a number of concerts, conventions, sporting events, etc. Whatever, I don't know why we've been getting into this the past few days...
