Abandoned: Solon: Central Park Lifestyle Center
YUCKY YUCKY YUCKY! I think that as long as we have (ok well hopefully have ) a diverse, NEW retail selection in downtown and adjacent neighborhoods, Westlake, Solon, N. Royalton, etc. can have all of the Gaps and Chico's they want. Who from downtown, OC, Tremont drives to Strongsville to eat at TGI Fridays or Red Lobster? It's the other way around with suburbanites making the trek into the city more often that probably 15 years ago. The food component to the puzzle is filling itself out quite nicely (although some Jamba Juices would be good!) and God-willing once Stark, Wolstein, and friends start bringing in retailers, the only thing we'll need in the burbs in Cabela's! Ok, yeah I was joking there and really hate Brunswick!

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Awesome article. Wait isn't it cloudy in Chicago November-March and snowy and cold?! Cleveland isn't the only city out there where it isn't 75 and sunny 365?! :-o Oh, and I think that we have at least 6 months of tolerable weather...Come on! Let's get over ourselves and move forward instead of blaming the snow for everything. I was walking along Prospect yesterday and some guys were explaing to a guest how yesterday was the only sunny day in Cleveland for the next 3 months... Now, I can't take things like this too personally but by the looks of these guys, I'm sure they bring this up 4x/day and still b*tch about winter in July. Oh, and bet me that their guest was from Milwaukee or some other gray city. Wear bright scarves if it's too gray outside!

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Re: the parking garage argument: I think-or at least hope-that when we see "parking garage", that includes some sort of ground level retail at the minimum (515 Euclid-esque). Also, a 6 level garage might allow some other 50 car lots to disappear down the road-especially in this neighborhood. I work on Huron and the Ameritrust, Halle, and E14th garages are nearly full even though "downtown is dead and no one works downtown and the ECP has driven businesses out of downtown..." I'm all for consolidating the dozen or so random lots around PHS and building up Prospect from CSU to E.9th. I wish we'd get the call to start the 515 tower...

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Thank you Jesus that this building was sparred the wrecking ball! This project is just as important--if not more important than Stark's, Wolstein's, or Zaremba's project. I saw the front page of the PD in a stand this morning and was like, :-o Happy Wednesday!

Cleveland Design Competition
any word on an '08 competition? The website does not mention anything regarding the 2nd annual contest.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Things happen overnight in other cities. Why not here? And from the looks of the renderings, the urban planning/architecture aspect of the project is not revolutionary and there are probably a bunch of case studies out there to help expedite this process. Cleveland really isn't an enigma. We make it one. :|

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
It's amazing how many new restaurants have opened in the city in the past 3 years! Sure a few have left here and there but we probably grew by 50% especially in the downtown/oc/tremont neighborhoods. My only concern is that we need to expand the amenities of these neighborhoods. OC needs some entertainment/shopping to make it a really vibrant/sustainable neighborhood. Downtown is missing the shopping component but that's obvious. Let's use the famous phrase, "in 5 years..." :| for that one... I mean all of the restaurants are nice but one can only eat so many times in a day. Anyways back to Ohio City...some 'clubs' would be nice but by 'clubs' I mean NOT W. 6th. We have a wine and beer galore on W.25th-how about a vodka lounge? I know there's a nice one on North Ave. in Chicago but I can't remember the name. Also, even though the Detroit Shoreway is gearing up to be the westside's Cedar/Lee, a small theatre in OC would be nice too. Oh, and a cafe that is open past 6pm! Come on Talkies! Bar Cento/Bier Markt are open to 3 everyday and have good french press coffee and wifi but sometimes you want a cafe!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I just want to strengthen the fact that the OC renaissance (and many other neighborhoods in CLE) are far from complete! The pace of gentrification in CLE is nice as it allows the locals to coexist and adjust to change--allowing for a more diverse neighborhood. On the flip side, you have disturbances. While I wish we'd crank up the pace a tad, I'd like to think that the interaction between classes and such today will lead to a more tolerant, EXCITING AND UNIQUE Cleveland of tomorrow.

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
One of my coworkers rode a double decker bus to Chicago a few weeks ago. They should start a CLE-COL-CIN branch since the brand better reverred (imo) than Greyhound.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
You know what I think would be a cool site to develop downtown? THe south east corner of Ontario/Prospect. Right now there's that old Daughters of St. Paul bldg. and directly south of it is an old bldg (Anne's Brides???). It'd be cool to renovate the old bldg, knock down the little St. Paul bldg, and build a very slender and transparent midrise to contrast all of the heavy, massive buildings that surround it. Oh, and is something/someone planning on moving into the south end of the first floor of Higbee's? Looks like they're cleaning it up.

Cleveland: Retail News
Welcome Books! I just graduated from IIT in May and moved back to Cleveland! I unfortunately lived in Bridgeport b/c it was close to school and I didn't want to take the el to XC practice at 6 am. I moved to Ohio City and can walk to Daves, WSM, at least 2 dozen restaurants/bars, dry cleaners, salons, banks, and a few other establishments. Ok, so the city lacks real shopping but hopefully that will change sooner than later! Anyways, hope I wasn't too off topic mods!

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
God if I had the $$$ I'd buy the May Co., Halle, and Higbee's bldg. and bring 3 dept. stores to CLE that aren't here! How much is the Megamillions jackpot?!

Cleveland: Retail News
well a lack of nearby stores doesn't help the coolness factor either.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
Uh, Chicago's population is AT LEAST 5x greater than Cleveland's--and that's just the city proper. 6,000 x +/- 5 is way more than 24,500. I know simple propotion don't always tell the truth but just by the size of that city alone, OF COURSE it will have more applicants than SYC. I doubt all 6,000 or 24,500 applicants came from the city propers but in any case +/- 1% of the respective populations applied.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
What's the new restaurant on E. 9th next to Kinkos/FedEx? I was running last night and saw it lit up. It's amazing how much a few new places like that could invigorate that part of downtown after 6pm and on weekends! When is the Phoenix coffee shop opening on E.9th?!

Cleveland: 2013 National Senior Games News & Discussion
I was walking in the Arcade today and I saw the delegation standing near the Superior Ave. entrance. I knew b/c they were wearing buttons. Keep your fingers crossed!

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
FYI Bar Cento's menu has been updated! I went into work yesterday and it had changed a bit. From what I recall, new lamb entree, "stingray" entree, seafood "soup" appetizer, and a few more things. Oh, and the Kid's Pizza thing is ridiculously popular (I think around 3-4 dozen signed up already for the first one!) Check it out! And I repeat, all bottles of wine to go 50% off! :drunk:

Ok, so I can deal with losing to Athens but to these two cities? Come fricking on! We better get this!

CLEVELAND - November in the 70s (70+ pics)
THAT'S why I moved back to Cleveland! I went on a nice 7-mile run last night and boy was the Theater District hopping! The flashing marquees, saxophonists, packed restaurants, PEOPLE, made the area feel like a 'big' city!! It was cool. Also, CSU is beginning to look/feel like a real college! And this is just the beginning! Vive the Motherland!

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
What businesses did we really lose along Euclid and what have we gained and STAND TO GAIN?! To hell with City Blue, Lady Blue, and the few other shops/restaurants. I'm sorry but you have to give a little to get a little and if RTA did nothing with Euclid, the same people would b*tch about how crappy the street is and how there's no good shopping. People need to WALK and/or drive their lazy @sses down Euclid (PS to E.55th) and see that the area is changing FOR THE BETTER! Oh, and yeah, this isn't NYC but we're bigger than Mayberry and a couple street detours aren't crippling the city. Hell, the congestion is kind of cool. Stupid garce!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
and I love the Amish guy's quote, "Just because it's changing, doesn't mean it's gone"! That's so true! Why are so many of 'us' so arrogant and/or ignorant to think that our fair city (whether or not one thinks the ideal Cleveland was pre-freeways or when the Flats were booming) would stand firms against the sands of time and not change--not EVOLVE into the rich/dynamic place it is today? Hell, the city wasn't occupied by Nazis, burnt to the ground, or leveled by a flood but there are too many out there who b*tch about the place because we lost some blue collar jobs and some random stores so our main avenue could be restored to the grand artery it once was. Ok, so there's more to the story than that BUT the real issue is that too many people are afraid of the change and would rather spend the rest of their life complaining about it instead of accepting it and making the most of the situation. If an Amish man can be so accepting of the world we live in, why can't we? Another thing, I'm SOOOOO sick of hearing people B*TCH about the 2 days of 'cold' weather! These idiots have probably lived here their entire lives know that it won't be 80 and sunny 365 day out of the year. God, get over it! It's only November 7th! AHH! Leave if it's that bad! Anyways, back on topic to the OC-my home-and welcome Amish and all!

Cleveland: Retail News
CB2 is rather affordable-especially the smaller houseware items and I like it better than Crate and Barrel too! No pun intended! Anyways, if we had a dime for every store we said would fit well into downtown CLE, we could probably franchise ALL of them! oh well...

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Again, beating around a bush to the point where we'll scare them away just so everyone can add their $.02. Oh hell, I'll jump in too  We don't have the luxury AND/OR necessity to build something of this scale away from the city center (ie McCormick Place), especially Midtown/Clinic nonetheless. And if it goes downtown, they better not build skywalks stretching above Euclid so the doctors stay protected!

Pittsburgh: Stronger Than Steel
that's some sexy sh*t! 8-) Cleveland and Pittsburgh really need to adopt a regional mantra and work together for the betterment of the region! Hell, it's quicker to drive between the two downtowns than it is to get from the Loop out to Aurora/Joliet/BFE, IL sometimes! Gorgeous shots!
