Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Even though I'm in the field, I'm sooooo glad that we're branching out to firms throughout the world and U.S!!! I love Cleveland but the local architecture seen is quite uninspiring to say the very least. From firm websites to built work...We need to be enlightened!

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
Again, what's wrong with starting small and growing into something large (a la Stonebridge)? No wonder so many projects are abandoned. Instead of working together for a common good that would ultimately benefit each of them 10-fold, it seems like our developers only want their name in the spotlight even if it means never moving a shovel. We need visionaries. We don't need some homogeneous thing that has plopped itself down in the center of our city--actually would we really complain...? :|

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
Nothing is for certain yet but why are we surprised? Why does everything in this city have to be an all or nothing endeavour? What would be wrong with starting small in the WHD instead of this huge $1billion undertaking?! Granted it's being planned in phases but a few billion $$$ planned to be developed downtown in a few short years seems a bit Dubai-ish. Maybe they can't make money with a small project...I don't know... But the timid, "wait 5 more years" nature of our movers and shakers is really annoying. I guess that's why they have money and I don't but still... :x I can't wait to see the next crappy Sketch-up rendering of the WHD!!! Oh, and any money Stark may lose if this doesn't come to fruition will definitely be offset by the profits he'll make from a new Solon Crocker Park. It's new, it's safe in suburbia, it's Chico's! What's not to love about that?! :x Honestly, I hope all 3 people go forward with their respective projects downtown! We've just seen too many things put on the back burner and before you know it, 10 years have gone by and nothing has happened. GO TRIBE!

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
So I was walking along Prospect last night, headed to Tower City to catch the Rapid, and who walked past me??? A-Rod and a group of people (probably his body guards)! I also think Michael Symon passed me on W.25th, too but not 100%. Interesting 15 minutes for a quiet Wednesday in C-town!

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Yay, back on topic with new about CLE expansion!!! (Although we all seem to be a bit upset with the extra 1 cop per 10,000 residents in Cleveland...) An expanded CLE along the lines of MTS's updates is more spectacular than the Brownies in the Superbowl! But honestly, with 2 months left in 2007, do they really intend to introduce service to AMS, TXL, and TLV with the current customs facility? There is no way something new will be ready by spring 2009

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
Cleveland--downtown and its neighborhoods--will be much more lively and successful if we look at the big picture and stop defining every 4 block radius in the city as some new district. It's corny! Let the storefronts and the people on the streets define the neighborhood. The city isn't that big we'd confuse people by telling them that every other block is in a different neighborhood.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Had lunch today from Moko (new coffee shop in Theatre District)... I had my favorite, a medium Red-Eye (2nd one today!) and a tuna panini. The coffee was very good, the sandwich was tastey, but the interior was a bit too sterile. Nonetheless, it looks like I can start patronizing a new cafe now! Cork and Beans isn't bad, Starbucks is Starbucks, and Vinea hasn't gotten it together since they opened a few years ago--as far as the cafe portion is concerned. I'm looking forward to trying out more of Moko!

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Can we please hear something 'concrete (pun INTENDED) regarding an updated customs first?! And, let's put our honorable mayor on a thru flight to Shanghai and take his passport! Geez! The root of Cleveland's crime increase will never be uncovered with an additional 45 cops spread throught the entire city. That's like peeing in the ocean! 45 cops also seems like a small amount of cops to have staffed at the airport or all shifts, too.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
well Metro Toronto has 2-4 Ikeas (depending on how much of the sprawl you count). Population cannot be the reason that Ikea has chosen to ignore us--there has to be some other underlying issue because I don't buy the idea that 3 million in NEO can't support it and must drive at least 2 hrs. to the nearest store. Then again, this city doesn't even have ONE Jamba Juice so.... :x A Trader Joe's in SYC would be SWEET!!! A Sunflower Market would fit nicely in Tremont, too. These places would only add to the value of the neighborhood and I think it's important that there's a grocery store within walking distance of the heart of Tremont. One of the reason's I chose to live in OC over Tremont was b/c walking to a grocery store was much more convenient.

CLEVELAND/Komen Race for the Cure/Tremont Art & Culture Fest
That's bigger than Cleveland's marathon huh?! I went for a jog Saturday morning and much to my surprise, my normal route had to be altered due to the huge turnout! It was neat to see!!! There's a bunch of huge races along L. Michigan in Chicago so it was a real treat to see so many people here! BTW, I ran in high school with the winner of the race--granted he was a senior when I was a soph.-I think...Way to represent B'tucky!

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I didn't say disneyish but for a terminal that is +/- 20 years old, Helmut Jahn's T1 is an amazing space whose tunnel adds a reprieve--or a bit of excitement (depending on how you look at it) to air travel. I know there are budgets but it's a claustrophobic space between C and D--they could have at least introduced mirrors or something if digging more earth cost $$$. Anyways, cheers to Friday!

The top 10 easiest U.S. airports to get to
No kidding StrapHangar! While the ride in from MDW is quick, it's a pain walking to/from the terminal and if you're not familar with the airport, you can easily get lost! It is, however, better now that it was a few years ago. The blue line to ORD is horribly long and if you're not in the United Terminal, it's a long walk to the station too! None of my friends at school take the CTA to the airports (esp. ORD!!!) unless absolutely necessary. Geez. "Cleveland, America's best kept secret!" btw. I have that book!
