  1. God I really wish someone would tear down the ugly @ss building at E13 and Euclid! Combined with the empty lot between it and the Union Club, a brand spanking new flagship dept. store in the Halle Building, and PHS, this would be a quite the nice place! Someday...
  2. Just one comment... I think Cleveland's gentrification is as slow as it gets! I'm not being negative, but it's a pretty slow process compared to Chicago, for example. O.C. and Tremont have $500,000 homes and $50,000 virtually next door to each other. I think our rate of change is good in that it allows for the neighborhood to improve while allowing the old locals to adjust a bit, however it'd be nice to see a few more things under construction or renovation. One more thing that is off topic...Will Detroit Ave from W25th through the 60th's ever become or Blvd. des Anglais or N. Lakeshore Drive? That is prime real estate with no lakefront obstructions! "If I had a million billion dollars..."

Awesome season!!! Where were we 4 years ago?!?!?! Someone needs to push Mr. McIntyre (PD man) in the river for his stupid article about the new Cleveland catch phrase, "The Sweep"! :whip: Seriously dude, what the F is your problem?! Enjoy the fact that we were here and a pathetic journalist like yourself has a job. Right now, he's a top 3 on my list for people that need to "mysteriously disappear" from Cleveland, if you know what I mean. GO CAVS!!! Indians...You're up next!
  4. I just rented an apt. in Ohio City! Walking distance to Bier Markt and West Side Market! SWEET!!!
  5. Little late but it was a great day and even greater night! Seeing tens of thousands of people in the streets Saturday night brought tears! By the way, there seemed to be a few extra people roaming the streets yesterday afternoon before the game!!! My friend from Chicago loved her short but fun-filled weekend in Cleveland. She's also very amazed by the affordability of Cleveland. I had more friends in from Chicago this past weekend and they loved it too! I'm trying my hardest to lure my Chicago friends into investing here! I'm telling them, they can buy 3 for the price of 1 here! Can't wait until next year's meet!
  6. I agree with MayDay and LovesIt. How pathetic that the PD chose this as the front page story. Seriously! No wonder thousands and thousands of people are so pessimistic about Cleveland...What a sorry excuse for a cow town newspaper! Let's make sure that there are 17 pages of car ads and 3 sentences (if we're lucky) about Sudan...
  7. Does anyone else think that these old small Ohio towns are a bit spooky? :-o
  8. Richard Fleischman + Partners Arch. did the 515 garage

Hey Pope, Not to be too off-topic but are there plans for a rail connection? Do they not care? Maybe they think it's a good thing to trap passengers there so they think DTW is Detroit...
  10.  I miss Paris. I lived 5 min. from Gare du Nord.
  11. Avenue District West...I mean Flats East Bank looks like quite the happening place

The city looked might fine last night? Was there a blimp? It's cool that they show downtown Cleveland-even the other games that used the old videos, while Detroit's cameo is the parking lot at the Palace! It's also cool and corny when they do the Chevy drive through the city advertisement through downtown! Did anyone see what they did in Detroit??? They drove through the suburbs in daylight! It was nice to sweep both teams yesterday, too! :drunk: :drunk: Now if we could only have their airport...
  13. very very NICE!
  14. Think it was called B-tucky . it was "backwards" before its renaissance couple years ago..
  15. I take that back... I want to impress some Clevelanders! The strangers seem to be impressed more often than not!
  16. Ok Ks5214, well let's not touch downtown Cleveland then because it would raise parking rates and rent for apartment units and commercial spaces as well...There would be more traffic too... The airport is the gateway to the city for currently 12 million people and it's important it represents the city in a proper manner. Detroit's new terminal might set someone up for a disappointment  lol! While we may not be able to afford a new terminal complex, there's no reason we can't invest in some cosmetic upgrades for the immediate future. The airport has come a long way in the past few years (albeit relative to the hole it really was 5 years ago). There's still a lot of room for improvement but hopefully we'll see more shortly??? At work, I've seen stuff we've done for CLE a few years ago--it was nothing more than new seats for gates, flooring, etc...Obviously nothing materialized but some nice shiny floors, bright seats, ELECTRONIC signage, etc. can really spruce the place up! I'm not trying to get personal but it's comments like that strengthen the idea that "Cleveland's just home and if it ain't broken, don't fix it." Does anyone else on here think that the many of the locals here think of Cleveland as HOME and it's just a place to sleep, eat, and work? I think a lot of people have a hard time seeing Cleveland as a place to "play"...We do have a hub which should be growing shortly. The businesses and institutions in the area attract their business travelers too. There are plenty of "strangers" who fly through/to/from CLE besides the 2-3 million locals. We can't treat this-OR ANY OTHER project in the city like no one but "us" is going to see and use it. Don't we want to break the "mediocre Cleveland" mindset? I don't know about you, but I would like to impress the Parisians next spring!
  17. I love coming home from school and contributing to the local economy! I tell myself that so I don't feel bad spending $$$.
  18. Lord Please...
  19. I have to disagree but I think TC's revival is just as important as any other project going on downtown! The interior is gorgeous and any one of the proposed downtown projects will have to try VERY hard if they're to create something as unique as TC. I've had guests from Chicago who were amazed that our train station was a mall. Granted, ignorance is bliss, but they loved the concept. Downtown Chicago is a different beast than Cleveland but they have Water Tower Place, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and a Sak's mall (Yes Bloomingdale's and Sak's malls are depressing to walk around). I really wouldn't say any of those 4 malls drain the street. TC isn't that big either. I really think with the right tenants in TC, we can maintain a vibrant downtown with one mall and a bunch of street level retail. If Med. Mart and the Con. Center are a go in TC, wouldn't everyone think that it would be revamped to a high class mall to cater to all the convention goers and rich doctors?!?!
  20. Nice to see the cooperation between all of these parties. Hopefully they're sincere and realize that the true success of each respective project is dependent on the success of its neighbors! I can definetly see a Whole Foods/Trader Joe's and/or Fox and Obel in the area however it'd be a shame if it hurt Constantino's. Anyways...Go CAVS!!! I'll be at McGee's in Lincoln Park (Chicago) tonight if anyone wants to watch the game!

All of the pictures that look like they're taken from an observation deck kind of are...Back in spring semester '05, I had to do a project for my fire protection class and I chose 1 South Dearborn. Somehow we got to go on a tour of it when the curtain wall wasn't even up and I took those pics from the 30/40 something-ish floor. Kind of scary and really cold!

and the rest... Let's try this again! :x
  25. I hope this post works...I've been trying to upload these pics so forgive me if there are multiple posts containing the same images. Anyways... May 12th marked my final day as an IIT student as it was my Commencement day. It's kind of bittersweet--five years of friends and memories are now just memories but I'm just as excited to return HOME to Cleveland and begin a new chapter of hopefully many exciting events! Here are some pics of the city and IIT from the past few years in addition to a Indians/Sox game and my Shanghai skyscraper studio project where I won a travel scholarship (going to India in December!). Hope you all enjoy and I'll see everyone on June 2nd!
