Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
/\ YES YES YES! The location should not be the main focus. How sustainable is abandoning a huge site like the mall and can we afford to further isolate our most famous tourist attractions? Ok, I've vented for the day, now back to work!

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Honey, I also moved back to Cleveland from Chicago and I'll leave just as quickly if we ever try to model ourselves after some mid-size, vanilla, chain-loving city like Indy or WHATEVER! The walk from Nordstrom to Bloomingdales on Michigan Ave. is WAY longer than the walk from E4 to Ontario/St. Clair! And last time I checked, that city doesn't hibernate b/c it snows! JESUS! :x

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I think the timing of this is what is really annoying. It reeks of desperation of behalf of FCE, not of a sincere interest in redeveloping the city or the backyard of Gateway The MM/CC debate has been going on for years...both owners have been here for years...The fact that this surfaces TODAY is disgusting and suspicious.

The Effect of a Cleveland Championship on the City's Psyche
Well one HUGE difference w/ the White and Red Sox is that other teams in those respective cities (mostly the NBA teams) have given the fans many titles!

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
/\ Generally, sure...but Chicago is a much more transient/transplanted city than Cleveland...is ignorance bliss? Perhaps... Anyway, back on topic :)

I love how Cle.com insists on using a cold, gray, snowy, and empty picture of the Mall/CC!

Sad how some things have changed
Does anyone think it's weird that while there are barely any people in today's pics, the nostalgic pics are practically void of people too?! I mean really, that was during our supposed hayday! :?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
??? I was just saying how disgusting FCE/the PD have been regarding the CC/MM and that if anyone wants to pack up and leave town because they don't get their way, ADIEU! Sorry for the confusion.

Closing up shop if/when this sprouts from the Mall site? DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON YOUR WAY OUT! :x Absolutely disgusting!

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
in all fairness, it better have an increase vs the previous year as it was still under construction, right?

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
The information posted here recently has led us to believe that the aforementioned coffee shop is headed to the WHD. In addition to the opening of the Erie Island Coffee Company today, I was kind of hoping that it's something different... In the past 15-18 months, we've seen 4 distinct coffee shops open downtown (Moko, 2 Phoenix, and Erie Island).

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Does anyone have any clues as to what is going into the large retail space in 515? The crews are really moving along but there aren't any "coming soon" signs. Food? Retail? Sales office for tower units? Ok, pipe dream there but it'll be nice to see that space filled.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The most exciting/important thing about this project is the development it provokes. Just like the Healthline, it is only a beginning...something to spur growth in the most stagnant area of downtown.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Thank God it's coming! There are TOO many unused/misused storefronts on that street! Especially for being home to a top 10 Public Spaces location!

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Unfortunately that's Cleveland's attitude. Airports and other transit-oriented building have always been and always will be a opportunities to test the boundaries in architecture, redefine the travel/work experience, and renew a city's image. While it may not always be feasible to drop a couple $Billion (low estimate) on a new terminal complex, I think we can all agree that a true interior revamp is LONG overdue at CLE. It reeks of complacency and in my opinion, that is the worst stench!

2008 Chicago, Michigan
GORGEOUS PICS! It's been 1.5 years since I graduated and I realize more and more each time I go back that I took A LOT for granted!

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
Not to venture off topic too much but I feel it relates to 668... Maybe the PNC take over of National City will allow this intersection-the heart of downtown-to turn into the 24/7 neighborhood of which we (and yes, even our beloved mayor...) dream. Look at the north side of Euclid from PS to E9 and the storefronts are either financial institutions or vacant-save one Starbucks. It'd be great to see a shift from a 8-5 Euclid to a 24-7 Euclid where one could do more than use an ATM. I just hope all of the retail/restaurant usages of 668 are enough to generate some sort of activity after Wyse goes home at 6pm. This is definetly a huge improvement from the eyesore that has sat empty for years but I hope this project takes off and inspires a renaissance in underappreciated neighboring properties.

Chicago
I don't get where this topic is going... I initially was responding to the statement that And the fact that we can list all of these advantages/breaks Chicago has received nearly a century ago or even last week just goes to show that we can't simply say that the only difference between Chicago and Des Moines and Cleveland is the scale. Because all of these factors have made it the city it is today-with good, bad, and mediocre neighborhoods on ALL sides of the city, or only the world's 2nd? busiest airport, or whatever else we wish we had/or didn't have in our hometowns. This isn't a "Chicago is the greatest city ever" proclamation!!! But saying Midwest city XYZ is a mini-Chicago is a bit superficial--unless we provide some specific examples.

Chicago
Cleveland is definetly improving! I'm just saying that even though it has come a long way, it still has a long way to go--and I'm not trying to be negative either. We're in an interesting, LONG period of transition/growth??? but we can't go along pretending we're a mini-Chicago. If we live in denial things will never get better. We must realize there's a lot of work to be done FOR OUR OWN GOOD!

Chicago
Really? Ok, so I spent 5 years there for school and now have been back in Cleveland for 1.5 years-car free-and every time I go back and visit friends I realize how much I took for granted in that city! Chicago isn't the perfect city but to say that it's a megasized version of Cleveland, Indy,KC, or Des Moines is absurd. Cleveland has some nice pockets but it will take decades to see those pockets connected and developed such as the Northside, for instance. I'm not trying to place Chicago on a pedestal but we start to sound jealous/insecure when we say that Chicago's just a big Cleveland or whatever because if you really used each city everyday-car free nonetheless-you'd see a big difference. Hell, I can't even walk to a CVS/Walgreens and I live in one of CLE's "hotter" neighborhoods. I understand that things what they are right now in Cleveland but in this city, we're forced to settle and be complacent with many things. I guess it's a humbling experience to live here...

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
This is heartbreaking although this has been going on all over for a while. I remember flying into PIT (first int'l trip to Paris) and STL in their haydays...I was so jealous CLE wasn't as big but now its mediocre status looks to have faired the best...at least as of right now... :| Good luck down there!
