Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Heightsfan, can't you appreciate traffic congestion in this city?! Especially on Euclid?! I'm serious but maybe they need to look at correcting that light.

Forbes: America's Fastest Dying Cities
Cleveland is 212 years olds! No one can tell me/us that Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Delhi, Cairo, etc. never had rough periods lasting decades. We're going through this first wave of decline and we act like it's the end of the world. God, if anything you would think we would know that a city is a living organism and it evolves. Ok, the world's moving at a faster pace today but that doesn't mean we can throw in the towel. Is this really what America is? If anything, we're in a prime location to rebuild our city for the next wave. Whether it's global warming, energy crisis, or national security, we're one of a few places in the country with the resources ready-or not too far out of our reach-to maintain a comfortable, efficient lifestyle. I'm just preaching to the choir here but I feel too often, the majority of people out there think Cleveland or the Rustbelt is this urban studies phenomenon. We're so special and no one in history has ever dealt with a change of industries and decline in population. yeah, ok...

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Most people are too simple to realize that new doesn't necessarily mean better. They keep reading/hearing about the old, cramped CC and how a new CC at TC may revive the "dying TC complex". Just b/c the PD says the new site is "cheaper", they actually think the new site is "cheaper". You know, it's like when Forbes says Cleveland is 5'-11" into the ground, it's time to move off to the greener pastures in Afghanistan. They don't like being charged an extra $.25 per $100 ( :-o ...) so now they just want some decision to be made so this can happen or die altogether. I also bet most people don't appreciate the Group Plan and the potential that exists in turning it into one of America's most exciting urban, public spaces. We've seen proposals in the past for expanding the current site. Hell, my employer has produced countless plans and ideas for expanding the existing site-these go back 2 decades! These plans link the Malls, CC, and Northcoast Harbor better than anything we've seen, yet 2 decades later nothing has changed. I don't know what we do. If this thing goes to TC, we really need to start brainstorming as to develop some new program(s) for the Group Plan site. Between this project and the Innerbelt, we may p*ss away nearly $2 billion and set the course of the city for generations to come. Nice... :-(

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Even if it is a county agency, I'd like to thing the county's largest and "capital" city, with the most users and routes, needs to take some sort of initiative. Cleveland is the soul of Cuyahoga County and this city must be a priority. It's not like we're demanding Brooklyn Hts. city council to do something about it...Technically, maybe Cleveland isn't held accountable but all of these "officials" work hand-in-hand, side-by-side and passing responsibility off to the next person isn't acceptable.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I didn't go b/c I'm too young to have a brain anurism-looks like I would have had one too... This is absolutely disgusting! This is enough to make someone leave Cleveland-someone who has an appreciation and interest for our built environment and history. It makes you wonder how dense (as in narrow minded) and how isolated we really are (as a city and region) to see such ignorance on display-being fueled by our leaders and even those on the defensive. This is scary.

Forbes: America's Fastest Dying Cities
yeah MTS, I always wonder who is leaving. how many uneducated people make up one educated, contributing citizen of the city (and by educated I mean college degree). I'd trade 1 college graduate for 10 highschool drop outs. 1 graduate has a larger network of people-people who may visit the city and even people who may eventually invest in the city. As miniscule as it may be, 3 friends visiting CLE for the weekend and spending $$$ in Tremont/OC/downtown is important to this turnaround.

Forbes: America's Fastest Dying Cities
Our region has such a rich blue collar history that it's no wonder we see these types of responses/attitudes towards news like this. This is pure ignorance. So many people have lived such a simple, tasked-oriented lifestyle, that they have not the slightest clue about what's going on outside of their little world. I hope this isn't coming across as a strong stereotype but the meat and potatoes, Muni Stadium Browns taste still lingers in a lot of people here--probably most of those who post on Cle.com A lack of education and experiences with different people and different places is the number one reason we see such gut-renching responses on that embarrassing website. The mills and plants may be closed their doors but it won't be until that generation passes that we may see a signifcant shift in the attitude across NEO.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I know the rendering you're talking about. How ironic would it be that after 3/4 century, the Group Plan would finally have the train station it intended to have from the start!?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
regardless if the convention center stays at the Mall or moves to TC, we need to invest around the malls. Whether they're surrounded by hotel, residential, or office towers, we need to inject that area with sustained activity. Maybe the new aquarium as an attraction? KJP, hasn't the idea of making Public Auditorium a new intermodal station been tossed around or did I dream that? The malls are quite gorgeous! Even now there's the fountain and art installation which add to the character of the mall. This-along with many other areas in Cleveland (Public Square, waterfronts, etc...) deserve the attention of the world's most pretigious and exciting landscape architecture/urban design firms. While I'd love to see the CC stay where it is, I hope we don't give up on the malls as this may prove to be an opportunity where we can create a new destination in Cleveland. Then, after subsequential development, all of our green spaces may actually mean something and serve as a necessity to maintaining a high quality of life for visitors and residents of downtown.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
So what if it is a glorified busway! Ugh! Look at the development a "lousy, glorified busway" has spurred and will provoke! Bashing the Healthline/ECP while ignoring EXISTING rail opportunities at the same time really p*sses me off! As long as we keep voting for him, nothing will change!

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Duh, how can you forget that in this state, money grows on trees when it comes to roads and highways! This thing will be a go as long as a _RT acronym isn't included!
-
Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Carnegie and Chester are only 2 roads on the entire east side. Right now, one would suffice as a feeder as the population in the area isn't producing gridlock 24/7 or even DURING rush hour. These streets are wide enough to accomodate local and commuter traffic and there's enough wasted land between and around these streets to be redeveloped.

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Doesn't this point go against the OC? I mean if infrastructure already exists, connecting downtown to UC with a bunch of vacant or misused land, why waste hundreds of millions of dollars on ANOTHER road with MORE vacant and/or misused land? What will happen to Carnegie, Chester, etc? It really isn't that bad driving over there-it's not like we have Mumbai traffic. This $$ should be spent of correcting the shoreway and innerbelt-or hell, replacing the pot-hole filled streets in Tremont and Ohio City. Even our best neighborhoods are far from their full potential-we're not a huge city and I don't think we want to spread ourselves too thin.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Rule no. 1, please no automatic/press-one-button espresso machine! I want someone to grind the beans, press them, and foam my milk for each drink! If that isn't the biggest turn-off, I don't know what is!

This has been advertised for a little while--just very coincidental that it's happening this week in light of FBI/IRS investigations.

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
They're really moving with the Prospect Ave. storefronts. One storefront-from what I was able to see-has some nice vaulted ceilings and extends deep into the building. I can't wait to hear what retail tenants are lined up for this building!

urban sophistication-PD used that as a title last week-i've been saying it for a long time. TOD is a perfect example of that!

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Can we please let this thing open first? It's not LRT, HRT, or whatever so let's move on and invest our energy, time, and even $(even if it's at a cafe on Euclid) to make this thing a huge success. Maybe then, we can incorporate a more "alternative energy" mode of transportation. Hell, look at all of the EXISTING RAIL in this city that is literally and figuratively being p*ssed on. We struggle at maximizing those opportunities... Oh, and for the love of God, Jerry or Jettdog PLEASE tell me that the new healthline busses will not have the same automated voice stop announcement thing that the current busses/trains have! It's like the new Boeing 787s having cassette disk slots and floppy disk drives. I haven't ridden on the new busses yet...
