  1. Why do you think they behave this way?
  2. Just learned My.Adams Pavilion has now closed and is now a seasonal bar. Won't reopen again till April. The pavilion used to be the place to be even 5 years ago. Sad and somewhat surprised 4EG is keeping the place open even if it's on a seasonal basis.
  3. Looks weird without the Kroger building. Hopefully it won't be a parking lot for too long.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep that stretch of vine closed till the road diet starts next spring, and have it shut down for another year or two.
  5. There is that really weird store (I don't know if it's a bodega or what) by the Columbia building on Walnut where Tucker's used to be I think. They still deal there as well and are sometimes aggressive at night to passerbys. I'm genuinely impressed that they have the balls to do that with so many people going in and out of bars and restaurants. It's like they don't want to give up their neighborhood or way of life it seems.
  6. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2019/10/24/columbus-brewdog-sets-opening-date-for-massive.html?iana=hpmvp_cinci_news_headline BrewDog Brewery + Resturaunt opens on Nov 11th. Great addition to the Pendelton business district.
  7. Because shwartz was on the verge of shutting this past summer but had a GoFundMe that raised enough money to stay open. Shwartz is great, don't get me wrong. They have been a staple in the otr community for so long now...that said it's surrounded by such a sketchy area and this truly hurts their business. A new jazz club in a safe corridor of otr would probably be the nail coffin for shwartz.
  8. I don't think their business district is that bad. Definitely not suburban..could be more urban but they do have that historic stock of buildings in their main business district that also has resturaunts and shops. The Kroger lot is bad, but that strip mall would not fly in the suburbs. Way to little parking. Also you have alot of pedestrian traffic from what I've noticed. Lot of kids, families walking on the side walks. It's really not that bad. Could use tweaks and reform but really think Oakley is worse in more ways than Norwood.
  9. Next to kroger? Really? Its hard to drug deal there anymore because you have way to much pedestrian traffic nowadays. I don't know how you continue to drug deal when you have people left and right, and families walking by with little kids. I thought drug dealers like areas with no foot traffic or very little foot traffic?
  10. Until ground is breaking don't believe anything or anyone.
  11. I'm not blind to the fact that businesses fail. Most of the time due its own quality, or lack thereof. That said the businesses that were lost this year like The Rook stung. But yes, overall I agree with your outlook. Don't get to high with the highs, don't get to low with the lows. I think otr is still at a state where every business, big or small, plays a big role in otr overall state.
  12. It has some really cool homes honestly. Especially up the hill. Small secluded streets, old historic homes, nice business district. I definitely see the charm of norwood. I mean don't get me wrong, the area feels like it's Deer Park on steroids, but being so adjacent to Oakley/Hyde Park, it seems like a natural progression would be for Norwood to become absorbed into the gentrification pool as well
  13. The Norwood Kroger and the mcdonalds/taco Bell/KFC on the same lot seem to somewhat shrink the size of the overall lot. In my opinion it's not that bad and kinda reminds me of the current uptown Kroger parking lot size. I'm just surprised that Norwood was able to get so many chains, plus a Marshalls as well. Norwood by and large is still a lower income neighborhood. I was always under the impression that franchise owners tend to want to avoid lower income areas because of theft/crime/residents that don't have spending power.
  14. I mean it's interesting because I've seen larosas in really shady areas. I didn't even know there was a larosas in roselawn for crying out loud! But not one in downtown? It's just so confusing... obviously they are comfortable with locating there stores in very poor areas so that can't be a reason.
  15. I have a question...I just started working in Norwood and noticed their main business district has so many chain options: Larosas Frisches Skyline Chilli Taco Bell McDonalds KFC Arby's White Castle Wendy's Chipotle Subway Jimmy John's Lee's Fried Chicken What's impressed me that all of these chains were probably less than a 5 minute walk from one another. How the heck did Norwood get so many fast food chains with half a block form each other, but areas of uptown and downtown can't sniff even a larosas downtown?
  16. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2019/10/23/wine-and-jazz-bar-coming-to-over-the-rhine.html?iana=hpmvp_cinci_news_headline This is awesome. Wine and Jazz Bar coming to OTR in the Behlen Building...wonder if this might be the death of Schwartz Point.. Great news for Vine Street. Bustling when resturaunts are open but is eeiry quiet after 10pm...adding a mixture of bars and live music venue will nicely increase the pedestrian count during later hours in the night which helps create an otr that is much more active at night than simply main Street and also helps increase safety for others...criminals are less likely to commit a crime when you constantly have pedestrians and cars driving/walking out and about.
  17. So they are green lit to start breaking ground?
  18. Meanwhile Atlanta is saying ayyyyy pappiiiii
  19. I don't know why anyone would want to keep a jail downtown anyways. Best place is an isolated industrial area where not many people reside. What you end up getting are drug addicts and thugs being released after a short stint in jail and end up wandering the streets of Cleveland...
  20. Im curious about what fcc has planned for the ballet site..the article mentioned mixed use developement for that corner which is much better than a stand alone parking garage!
  21. Chx is owned and operated by the Hickory Wald group who own and operate: Rhinehaus Nation Kitchen and Bar The Hannaford 3 Points Brewery Findley Market Food Hall (Which work will be starting on) They are a somewhat wealthy group who have had a lot of success in the hospitality industry as a whole.
