  1. The artwork is like 1/3 of the experience. The interactive pieces and the random related blink pop up parties/events are about 66 percent of the experience. You have to imagine blink as a walkable downtown art gallery, rather than this in your face Lazer art show hosted as the us bank arena. Also not sure how much you truly saw last night since most of the projections were turned off last night because of the rain/lightning in the area.
  2. Shanghai - nati?
  3. This is awesome https://www.wlwt.com/article/blink-lights-up-cincinnati-here-are-some-must-see-attractions-along-the-riverfront/29432570 Random laser dance party in an alley way for Blink. Stuff like this is what makes blink, arts community and this city as a whole so damn special. I think even 10 years ago and how Cincy didn't even have half the stuff going on today. The future for the next generation of cincinnati kids are going to be night and day compared to the previous generation of kids.
  4. Very dope new otr Mural.
  5. Cincinnati should unofficially be known as mini Tokoyo during blink. Great shots! Also why isn't the river front center used more often for like daily stuff?
  6. There was a live stream by wlwt and I laughed my ass off when some of the comments were of people saying, "Who cares! Cincinnati is infested with drugs and crime. No thanks!" It was almost like they were mad at other people for having fun downtown and not living up to their imagined world of Cincinnati being a place that you would get instantly shot the minute you stepped foot downtown lol. I feel bad for some people. So scarred by their parents and media.
  7. Then what's taking so long in regards to the property?
  8. I'm not sure. I did notice traffic was nuts probably worse than 2 years ago. Total standstill. People everywhere, cars everywhere. The police guards directing traffic were having a hard time keeping up with the level of traffic and pedestrian traffic crossing the street...again picture times square on a Saturday night and it will give you a glimpse in terms of how big these crowds were. Cincinnati is just not equipped to handle this level of pedestrian/vehicular density unfortunately. Again this was just Thursday. The busiest days will easily be Friday and Saturday....future blink events sould ban any vehicular traffic and have Uber/Lyft drop off/pick up zones at the casino parking lot or the West end. The amount of cars vs people walking is just not working and is just causing so much mayhem downtown.
  9. Just got back as well. I'm fairly certain it beat Thursdays crowd 2 years ago. Insane. I love Blink because it truly gives you a glimpse of how the hell cincinnati would look like if we're as dense as Chicago/Manhattan/any big city...I'm not sure how many decades we are from achieving that, but it's such a cool feeling to see cincinnati be a big city for 4 days.
  10. Right, I imagine this will delay progress considerably. The repairs itself will probably less than a month, but the redtape to investigate the cause can take a considerable about of time...one would think...
  11. Aren't the Wade's old? One of them will probably die first of old age before the divorce settlement is wrapped up lol
  12. Fox 19 wrote an article saying 3cdc is still planning on developing a mixed use structure on the Kroger lot and still determining whether residential/office will be the best fit. Regardless, hope this lot is developed quicker rather than later.
  13. There is only 15k residents between Covington, The Banks, CBD, and OTR/Pendelton/Findley Market...that seems a bit low, no?
  14. Ah okay thanks! I'm just curious that if Blink has the potential to grow what it becomes a national event that becomes a serious draw from tourists across America. Or do you think blink is always destined to be a medium sized regional powerhouse type of event?
  15. Who are blink sponsors? Curious if the likes of kroger/p&g could help elevate this to an event that is heavily marketed towards areas outside of the metro area (like TN, IND, KY). I feel like anywhere within a 6 hour drive is fair game.
  16. Curious if that's net or gross? That means someone has to make roughly 24$/25$ an hour at their day jobs. Yikes.
  17. Im curious how filled the streets will be this time around. Last time downtown Cincy looked like Manhattan. Soooooant people I was in utter who and awe. Never saw so many pedestrians downtown in my lifetime like i did that night.
  18. So if you have otr increasingly become more populated with wealthy individuals won't that heavily affect the area media income and thus make those 8 reserved units unaffordable?
  19. Y'all getting ready? I've seen of the international artists around downtown lately and some of the new murals being done this year are amazing. I think they are going to soon run out of building side walls to paint murals on though lol. With that said, I'm super hyped. So much going on this weekend with Blink. What are your guys plans?
  20. That's not what implying at all. I'm saying poverty and social status is the catalyst towards criminal behavior. There have been numerous countless studies done on the link between socioeconomics and the vulnerability towards increased violence and criminal behavior. I wrote a whole thesis on this very subject matter in grad school. Calling them savages was incorrect and wrong of me and I sincerely apologise for that indecent comment.
  21. Even though northern KY is closer to downtown cincinnati than most people who live in cincy (like oakley, Hyde park, etc), there will always be division. Northern Kentucky will never consider themselves cincinnatians and vice versa.
  22. I know it will have a mini extension of the smale park...so some trees, landscaped gardens etc. Overall I think this is a win. Obviously this won't compete with the Ovation Music Venue and will be its own little thing. I'm not sure what acts they are aiming for, but I'm sure it will still increase foot traffic year round during this music events that are booked. I'm not necessarily sure if this will truly help the retail tenants/bars and restaurants at the banks but i do think it will help a little bit to some extent at least. At the very least I'm tried of River bend being the main go to music venue for Cincinnatians. It's so outdated and dingy at this point so I'm glad there is a new venue that is at a very nice location on the river.
  23. But that's the thing they didn't have role models. They were abandoned like dirt. Absent fathers, mother's with 6 kids, no one cared, no one cares. Why should they care about there life? Someone else's? They are gone, always was since they took their first breath in this world. I want to give them a hug, show them I care. Somehow.
  24. Typo, they meant upstate.
  25. I guess what is surprising is that an area like otr is more expensive than say short north. Short North seems like a really expensive area of downtown Columbus with all of the Luxery mid rises being built..also the short north has been going through gentrification since what the 80's? And otr, since what like 2012?
