What do you mean listening to sponsors of non downtown sites?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Agreed. The convention center needs to be expanded and our current convention center hotel sucks plain and simple. We can debate all day if this the right way to expand the convention center but this opportunity to redevelop both the convention center and convention hotel are now. We might not have another chance after this. Btw when can we retitle the thread, Hotel Signia and Convention Center Expansion Development thread?

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
We could definitely see that corner of Pendelton become a little more active in the next year. With the large Sycamore St infill Project, BrewDog, and Hard Rock (I'm hoping they bring back outdoor concerts again by the casino) I'm hopeful.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
There is a news article on WLWT on how a 15 year old teen entered a OTR bar (The Lackman) at 9pm and saw a purse sitting by itself on a bar stool and proceeded to run off with the purse. The patrons chased him down Vine and he dropped the purse and later got arrested for burglary charges. That said, they shared this post on Facebook and Twitter and I'm curious why this ever made news in the first place? It's the biggest non story but in big font in the header, "MAN STEALS PURSE IN POPULAR OTR BAR"...like why? Does the media have that big of an agenda against otr? I understand a shooting or some violent mugging incident, but a kid stealing a purse because the lady left it sitting there on its own? Like wtf?

When is the otr Kroger set to be demolished?

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
Gilbert should've focused on developing the surrounding area as well instead of a sole casino. Casinos in a vacuum are pointless to the urban core. Most people who go will use the parking garage, use the skywalk to cross over to the casino, blow a few hundred dollars on the penny slots and drive home. The area around the casino needs more residents/more entertainment options. All of this in the long run would have given more pedestrian traffic around the casino, and would have resulted in more profits for the casino as well.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
Why are people so negative? I have ready so many comments online about how this Kroger will go out of business because of the location, people will rob the store relentlessly, others calling this lipstick on a pig Kroger I know many of these people undoubtedly probably live in the suburbs, and probably visit downtown to park nearby and watch the reds/Bengals...But what happened to them and Downtown Cincinnati that have left them so bitter and negative? Psychology says this is due to "trauma" but what the hell happened to them that was so traumatic? I'm thinking this is a serious case of implicit bias personally. They see black residents downtown and consume news articles about shootings, muggings, violence that mainly pertains to the black race and thus creates a bias that Black Skin = Bad Man , which equates to Area with Many Black Bad Man = Bad Area. Damn shame that we live amongst so many damn racists.

Kind of hard to settle for an Artistery when the whole reason this is being pushed hard in the first place is because Cincinnati badly needs an updated Convention Center Hotel.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
I'm curious when fencing will go up for demo..?. I'm happy that the otr Kroger always managed to exist during the toughest times in otr history. I can't imagine how difficult it would have been for the poor residents living there back in the early 2000s if Kroger had shut down. That said, for many years it was a very hot area for open air drug dealing so I'm glad that south of liberty will be a little more, "cleaned" up in the end.

Casinos can be such blood sucking parasites to the urban core if you let them get their way

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
There coffee is average. That's my personal opinion....Clearly many people love Starbucks, and don't share my opinion, hence the reason why they are a profitable company and have thousands of stores across the world. Clearly many people will love the walk up window feature and will be frequent customers, which will be great for activating pedestrian traffic... That said, I won't be in line because I don't think their coffee is that great.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
People who religiously drink Starbucks blow my mind. Their coffee is average as hell. Most of their menu has now evolved into this fast food McDonald's hybrid with Fraps that have over a 1,000 calories in one serving. Their food is decent, but still is way overpriced like their drinks. Starbucks used to be a cooler when they were smaller and more "local" oriented with their coffee shops. Now they have become this behemoth that has literally become the equivelent to the McDonalds of Coffee Chains.

I mean I'm sure the new court street Starbucks will have an impact on some of the local coffee shops downtown...But I think that the person who drinks Starbucks would have probably never gone to a Iris Book Cafe, or Kitty's anyway.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I stayed there 2 years ago for my gf dance competition and didn't have a problem with the Crowne Plaza. Last time I stayed at millennium our non smoking room reeked of cigarettes, like embedded in the furniture...large patches of mold in the bathroom ceiling, seriously out dated rooms, and stains in the bed sheets that we discovered when we shined our flash light underneath. It's just a really crappy place and I'm glad to see it go.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
It's the little things like a Starbucks service window that make cities so vibrant and great. With the Kroger store officially opening tomorrow I hope that this will be the beginning of a wave of positive development and changes for Court Street and that overall portion of Downtown.
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
You have a point that is widely being ignored. Our convention center is a pile of utter crap. The millennium looks ugly and outdated as hell. It's bug bed infested and smells like mold and cigarettes. The fact that Dayton has a better Convention Hotel says everything about how bad the Millennium is, and how badly it needs a replacement.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
The draw is your a few min walk to the Koger Court St District, Music Hall Washington Park/ FCC West End Stadium less than a 8 min walk to the new Hard Rock Casino...It shouldn't really be a hard sell for anyone living in that "quadrant" because our downtown has developed so much as of late. There is so much to see and do besides "the river" or fountain square.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I'm not sure what realistic solution you are proposing in that case?
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
But can you not add shops, resturaunts, art galleries, etc in nearby commercial spaces that will then generate traffic regardless?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
A block of historic buildings versus an entire district.... OTR is special because you have blocks upon blocks, north, south, east, west. The entire area makes you feel immersed as if you stepped in a different world all together. A block of historic buildings doesn't evoke the same feelings.
