  1. What was phase II supposed to entail?
  2. Cincinnati NEEDS to begin marketing itself as a Midwest New Orleans/Savannah Georgia/Charleston, etc. The only special thing about Cincy that makes it stand apart from alot of cities is the OTR historic district. If you had a smart advertising agency, you could easily generate tourism to Cincinnati because of OTR, the same way millions flock to Savannah/New Orleans each year to see their unique historic districts. I've said this countless times, and I'll say it again; Cincinnati without OTR is Nothing. OTR with Cincinnati is everything.
  3. Again I'm sort of not following, so excuse me if I sound dumb. I know closing off elm in theory will harm street activity. My question is this; If the urban core continuously adds thousands of residents to CBD/OTR/Pendelton/West End etc in the coming decades..will this in theory still affect this, "activity"? Even in regards to businesses, you add more residents to the urban core and typically you flow more blood and cash for businesses to open/stay open. So again, if we are going to continue to add thousands upon thousands of new residents downtown how will this in theory still affect pedestrian activity when you are already adding an influx of natural pedestrian residents who will be walking around downtown regardless.
  4. I mean if your adding thousands upon thousands of new residents in the future in cbd/otr/west end, will the population increase naturally create activated pedestrian activity regardless in this area on its own by way of new residents?
  5. Wow this is gorgeous! Looks very modern and looks akin to a "bigger city".
  6. I mean it doesn't have to be creepy. They could easily work something with ArtWorks and create a art gallery tunnel that turns into a LED art gallery at night. They could do a lot of fun things with that if they truly wanted to. Art displays make everything feel more, "alive" in a city.
  7. Is someone able to post a rendering of the proposed development? Or can this be found Ina city planning commission packet/vandercarr website? Just curious how the enquirer got access. Not paying for this subscriber Bs.
  8. How many stories does a new construction building need to be in order to peak out of cincy's skyline? Just curious.
  9. Just a general question, but is the concern of, "lack of activation" still present even if you add mixed use development with hundreds/thousands of new residence in the surrounding area?
  10. It's blocked for me...Any word on the height? I'm hoping it will at least impact the skyline to some degree.
  11. I want to preserve these buildings but I'm also very supportive of a fortune 500 company investing in the urban core and building a tower that would have a major impact on the skyline.
  12. It's always good when surbanites have another reason to visit downtown. Having a brand name like Hard Rock can change the perception just a bit!
  13. Just in terms of global recognition, most people around the world are aware of the Hard Rock Brand.
  14. I mean what other international brand does Cincy have? Hard Rock Cafe is equivalent to Apple. People from London to Mexico know what Hard Rock is...Now Hard Rock will have shining lights off 1-71 and people will think wow, Cincy must be a tourist town!
  15. Ah gotcha. I don't think the cafe is lame at all. It's average to slightly above average food that tourists love to flock to. Someone on Facebook on the wlwt news thread about the hard Rock transition saying the hotel will be a, "stilted hotel"...whatever that means?
  16. Yikes.....Are you ever excited about anything? Hard Rock might be, "lame", but they are probably one of the most nationally and internationally known brands...No one knows what the hell Horseshoe/Jack are.
  17. Can we change the thread to Hard Rock Casino? Super excites btw. Hard Rock is still IMO such an internationally recognized name. It’s silly, but it’s super exciting to have something like this in cincy!
  18. https://urbansites.com/uploads/project/pdf/77/600_E_12th.pdf Thought this was interesting. Not sure how long this marketing brochure has been around by Urban Sites, but I will gladly love to see an Office Building on this long vacant piece of valuable land.
  19. Hmm that's cool! I guess I'm just so used to Cleveland Project threads on the front page that constantly get announced and then stop but have 100 pages of discussions...but don't really notice Columbus construction pages..I guess y'all are like we have our sh*t together, we don't have to talk 20 pages worth of discussion about whether Stark will ever build his NueCLEus tower or not
  20. The West End stadium and eventual development will probably fuse the perception of otr/west end...and old west end and north of liberty otr/Mohawk are fairly well connected to one another still
  21. Old west end is still largerly intact (adjacent to otr and there a large population that live in the West end regardless. This isn't even really including lower price Hill which is what less than 3 minutes drive from downtown?
  22. That's surprising...And this is if we include OTR/Pendelton/West End as well? Maybe its because Columbus still has large swaths of surface lots scattered around the entire city...idk.
  23. I encountered a lot of OSU students. Obviously it's a popular spot to bar hop, but I noticed a large population of wealthy foreign OSU students. You could tell because they looked no older than 19 and we're driving around with their (equally young looking friends) in Tesla's and Maserati's.
  24. I was in Columbus a few weeks ago and saw a handful at most in the skyline. Nothing that makes you go, "woah!" Pedestrian activity is high in short north but downtown is still dead from what I saw accept a few particular blocks where there are bars (like pins/16 bit).
  25. Yes I have..I love the short north and have noticed the construction boom their for sure, but in the same token it's so close to OSU, which is a major institution, that I can't help but feel much of that supply is catered towards the 70k plus OSU students. I also would argue that it's not that far off than what is occuring in OTR/Uptown with developers constructing infill/rehabs/mixed use residential projects in Cincy. Why is downtown, the core of any city, still lagging so much in comparison? I was under the impression that boom town cities have construction activity in storm across the city, not in particular blocks or in particular neighborhoods.
