  1. I guess moving to Mexico would solve some of those costs
  2. I feel the definition of reasonable could be very skewed here, especially when dealing with a massive Fortune 500 company that is essentially attractive for any major city to acquire.
  3. I mean can KJP reflect on this statement? Does he know if SW has contacted other construction contractors/developers in other cities and states? Feels like he would have the best input on whether SW is indeed looking at other cities for relocation as well.
  4. I'm not sure that statement was a throwaway sentence. SW has all the right to explore all their options, including different cities and states. They have no obligation to be loyal to one city. At the end of the day they are a business with share holders and there main target is growth and profitablity. If they can achieve that in Cleveland then that's awesome! But they will definitely be thorough and diligent about selecting the site of their next HQ.
  5. I hate to be that guy but should we take a stab? https://www.cleveland19.com/2019/09/12/sherwin-williams-considering-plan-move-global-headquarters-cleveland/ 4,400 new jobs downtown would be great!
  6. SW have options. When you are a company their size you have the ability to request alot in terms of tax cuts and incentives. Hopefully the mayor and Cleveland council members can put up a good fight and offer the incentives that SW will be looking for to build their HQ, but I can bet that their will be mayor's from cities all across the country contacting SW and putting out various package deals. This is not a slam dunk by any means, and it's up to city leaders to get this done. One misstep could spell trouble.
  7. True, I was more referencing to the impact it will have for most cities to land a new HQ the size of SW. It was being discussed how it might be a labor cost strain in order for SW to relocate all of their work staff/new hires to staff the HQ...but I'm wondering if they receive tax cuts/incentives if it will balance out the labor costs?
  8. I think Cincinnati and Columbus would love to have SW HQ. I'm sure the same goes for most states and their major cities. While I'm sure SW is Keen on staying In Cleveland, for multiple reasons, I also believe they will be looking for massive tax breaks and incentives. This is kind of equivalent to Amazon HQ 2. Not nearly as many workers, and new generated city tax income, but many cities will bend over backwards to lure in a new HQ the size of SW.
  9. Would that allow 3cdc to lease the lower floors for an office tenant, and have the employees actively work, while simultaneously constructing a tower above the connecting support base?
  10. Interesting..I'm still not entirely sure how they would go about building a tower if they have already gone about leasing the office space in fountain place? Would they still be able to construct a tower in that scenario?
  11. Question..in what capacity is your source connected to the project?
  12. I'm not an engineer but is there any way to build some type of support columns/structure that would allow buildings to be built above 1-71?
  13. I think it's the right move tbh. Even as a kid, I would spend more time in the pool area than the rides. I truly think the sunlight pool area is a really special niche and is a bit more unique than your typical water park like KI or the Beach Water park. I think add the growing cost of maintence for these aging rides + labor costs to operate the rides + growing hesitation and concern over carnival style rides thanks to the Ohio State Fair disaster has caused the recipe for this result.
  14. I saw an article recently from wcpo I believe stating they started construction recently to commemorate the anniversary of the fifth third shooting.
  15. Hmm interesting. I'm hoping that the, lack of news/"delay" on this matter is due to something larger than just new office/retail tenants. As nice as it would be to have that corner activated again, it would be great to see that highly valuable corner being used to it's highest potential (ideally mixed use with a strong residential component as well. )
  16. This could also be due to Sherwin Williams not wanting to inflate land prices dramatically because of their desire to build a tower. I imagine that these type of transactions are pretty tight lipped, and this spreading wind could only create a larger obstacle for them.
  17. Wasn't there a proposal not too long ago that would help connect the Baldwin to Pendelton and otr?
  18. Parking lots are great business. Anti -urban as hell, but it's basically free money for very low maintenance/labor costs. That fact that you can be a millionaire in America because you own a parking lot in a city is such an absurd concept.
  19. At least it's still located in the core. Just wish it was better connected, because that area of downtown still feels quite disconnected from downtown, even though it's in downtown.
  20. I'm not really if there is a long term plan that for that site. There have been rumors that a new fountain square tower was still on track, but I'm not sure how that would be possible if you lease the entire building to office and retail.
  21. That is good news! Thanks, I need liquor to survive most days.
  22. I just dont think 3cdc has the resources to work on so many projects at once...they already have 4th and Race, OTR projects, Downtown Convention Project, etc....
  23. Got an inside source on this one?
