  1. How does a pan handler even get a bomb..jesus
  2. People that don't work/don't have parential guardians that give 2 craps about why their teenage son is out in the city at 3am on a Sunday... That's sort of how this works right?
  3. I'm sure...but with the latest plans released I wish more info was given on what they plan to do with the retail components/entertainment/resturaunt components..still sort of lost on what the phases are and what the overall goal of the new Levee is setting out to achieve to Garner the audience it has lost.
  4. Also, a Reddit rumor but Brio is also set to close. Newport on the Levee has officially collapsed.
  5. I feel like this is an apples to oranges comparison...I don't think anyone is oblivious to murders happening anywhere, even in the comfort of their suburban neighborhood. But when you hear about 14 year olds being shot on the street and consistent acts of gun violence on the streets of Cincinnati it portrays a portrait of a city filled with residents who have violence, rage, and chaos.
  6. Just a heads up Apperantly Q102 leaked news that Barnes and Noble on the Levee will be closing permenantly. Such a shame I loved lingering in that book store.
  7. Very true... I grew up much of my child hood and teenage years in Amsterdam at most you would hear on average of murders is 10 - 15 in total. I think Cincy has averaged that in just the month of June alone. Even then it would be a husband who killed his wife over an affair or something domestic like that. American cities just have so many guns and just so much violence in general. It's just a shame I guess.
  8. I mean the bars close at 2:30am most people still linger till 3am to catch their Ubers...then there is the AC Rooftop Hotel guests and the Airbnb guests at the banks.. I know crime is isolated to altercations, drug dealing, gangs, etc...but it's just a sad reality of American cities nowadays. Im originally from Europe and I miss the freedom of walking around the city center at night with no fear of crime or violence. Violence was just never a part of our culture...even if you were poor the most you would resort is to pick pocket someone on the train or the street... Never by pushing a gun in someone's face....
  9. The old corryville Kroger wasn't necessarily dead, but it was commonly referred to as kro-ghetto... And walking around that Kroger at night was always ill-advised by students. It was just a really sketchy and uninviting Kroger with weird alley-halls and poor lighting at night that makes you feel like you could get jumped and mugged at any moment.
  10. Sad to see the shooting last night at the banks in front of tastes of Belgium. The banks has been such a good facilitator for suburban tourists from West Chester and mason (that are still hesitant with otr)..it just sucks they have to witness the terror and screams of horror from the violence. Crap like this makes people afraid and makes them isolated in suburbia and the violence is what kills cities.
  11. I have to imagine some of their energy is being spent on locking down the banks concert venue first...the ferris wheel situation sort of highlights how the city doesn't want Northern KY to, "win" attractions... I also feel that the empty pad for the speculation office tower that was never built for the block of phase 1 (where the corner store is next to that baseball kid mutual) is still something of a concern that it's been almost, what, 5-6 years and it's still has no prospective tenants? IMO, they should scrap the office tenant concept and just build a mixed use retail/residential component and create an entertainment center (botique movie theater, retail, maybe a food hall?) with residential units above. It sort of fits the entertainment theme that the banks sort of has going for it at the moment anyways... I feel like after those 2 objectives get wrapped there will be more fuel to get started on the future banks phases.
  12. View at Shire's garden finally opens tonight at 6pm to 2am It's at 309 Vine St on the 10th Floor at the city club apartment building. See y'all there!
  13. I see what you are saying...they own the old boys and girls club site right? So Im guessing they want a bigger development plot? Which would probably mean a resdesign of some sort?
  14. So it's not related to the FCC Stadium and not a financing issue...then I'm lost what it could be? Nothing is making sense for the cause of the delay. Is it the liberty diet? A water main? I'm just not following...
  15. One last note, but this also means that the current renderings of freeport are useless since the hcb design only last for 2 years once issued. That means the developers would have to go back to the hcb for the 3rd time...this developer is such a wreck.
  16. Can you share whether it's due to a financial issue or external delays..like are the developers waiting for FCC stadium?
  17. Can anyone shine some light on what the heck is going on with Freeport Row? First the developers said August/Sept of 2018... Then the biz journal came out with the developer said they would start construction shortly. They moved some dirt earlier in the year but from what I understand that's about it. So is this project dead? Did the developer lose all of their financing? I'm just trying to add up this puzzle of this bizarre stop and start development site...?
  18. I mean to be fair it's a little bit more than just a "mall"...Id argue it's more of an faux urban entertainment plaza with all of the restaurants, cafes, few bars, comedy club, movie theater, residents/office space above, etc... It may be slicking the pie a bit to thin, but I'd argue that many would enjoy eating liberty mall pie if it wasn't so damn far away. Aside from kenwood, I'd probably argue liberty mall is the 2nd most enjoyable (maybe 3rd if you could Newport) mall in the tri-state. I just can't and many other cincinnatians struggle with getting their. It's not in a convienent enough location.
  19. You do realize it's a dilapidated eyesore because lack of care made it become this way.. right? This eyesore can easily be restored if someone truly wanted to.
  20. With how many Columbus businesses have set up shop in otr, it's a damn shame that north star Cafe has yet to open in the urban core.
  21. Its not a bad concept. An urban indoor/outoor mall. Im not sure what could be the root of the financial issue other than maybe liberty is a bit disconnected from the rest of greater cincinnati and is a somewhat long drive. I for instance would go more often, but it's easily a 40 minute drive for me if not longer. Compared to kenwood which is 15 - 20 min max.
  22. Is the liberty township mall really struggling that bad? The developers should've just built this in oakley in the first place...
  23. So that's potentially a crap ton of new parking for a surface lot when those buildings get demolished. I hope this isn't a bait and switch where the developer planned phase 1 is not actually phase 2 and the real 'phase 1" is to demo the buildings, create more surface parking and collect revenue from surface parking for another 10 - 15 years till the time and economic conditions become, "right" for the real phase 1 to begin... Regardless Cleveland has quite a bit of urban fabric wholes where they really shouldn't be touching any more of their historic stock. So much was already torn down in Cleveland yesteryears..why demolish more when so many damn surface lots exist.
  24. Welcome to a city with 0 character in that case. Unless we are getting super modern/futuristic archeticture that you can find in Hong Kong/Singapore/Dubai etc you will end up with a 21st Century modern glass box that adds 0 character whatsoever. This is soul sucking for a city.
  25. Accurate. So many times... So many damn times, a developer will over promise and under deliver. It's normal to be skeptical. It happens all the time in Cincy. Developer will promise this extravagant development, demolish a few beautiful historic structures, and what we end up with are parking lots and broken promises.
