  1. I mean to be fair otr is pretty dead on weekdays as well (at least compared to the weekend). Our core as a whole from the banks, CBD, otr, west end, Mt Auburn, etc can use more residents.
  2. This forum is terribly depressing at times. Competition is good, not a bad thing. Also, who cares if promo West is in newport? It's basically cincinnati anyways.
  3. I thought the banks was almost 90 percent leased and has been quite successful lately? I can't necessarily speak for weekdays, but on weekends the restaurants their are always packed and so are the bars. The new Galla night club always has a line stretching onto the street. I always see rows of family in line by the ferris wheel and kids playing by the river edge and in the parks... So I'm a bit confused on that bit...
  4. Exactly. Isn't this common for large cities, to have a pelethora of music venue options? NKY is basically Cincinnati anyways. We should embrace our options and take pride in the fact that Cincy is slowly growing out of this image of sleepy little rustbelt city...
  5. Maybe, but I think they have a niche with their college student base. I don't know, I think our city is growing and has a lot of momentum right now. I'm definitely happy we are not Cleveland... That city feels so depressed right now and there consistent population decline isn't helping. Hopefully 3 venues can be successful in Cincy. This sure as hell isn't your circa 2000 Cincy that was a dump and nothing to do except Mt Adams and Fountain Square stuff.
  6. Wouldn't that be a bad look for city officials/Hamilton county to back out of the banks music venue? If I was a city official this would be more motivation to get the banks project moving forward.
  7. Can our city support 3 music venues? (The banks, Riverbend, Ovation among the various other concert venues in Cincy)... I wasn't aware our city was experiencing such massive unexpected growth in the music scene.
  8. Its also a really large building as well. It will be great to have more residents living north of liberty in the coming years and should hopefully ease the crime a bit in NoL
  9. I'm not sure this bit was old news, or new news but these are the 9 rehabbed buildings model group will be working on 1810 Elm 1830 Elm St., 1821 Race St 1936 Race St 1941 Race St. 124 Findlay 127 Findlay St. 41 W. McMicken Ave 22 W. Elder If you look on google maps, some of these buildings are huge. It really does seem like Model Group is really trying to take control of all the development around the Findley Market.
  10. Nope. WVXU already broke the news on the new hilltop location https://www.wvxu.org/post/rare-and-welcome-gift-hilltop-solution-move-banks-music-venue-forward
  11. Based off the letter it seems more in depth than an arch. I'm not sure how you improve the customer experience and business success by adding an arch... You can find the letter draft in the reports and minutes on the otr community council website for April. I'm curious if anyone on here is on/attended the otr community council meeting and could chime in more.
  12. It sounds like it's more than just a simple gateway arch to me... in the cc letter drafted it notes, "Improvements to the customer experience, visible improvements to the main St corridor, and foundation for success for main Street businesses." I'm not sure how they would go about implementing this though?
  13. Does anyone have any information regarding the, "Main Street OTR Gateway" project. I saw the OTR community council approved a motion regarding this project in their latest docket but I'm curious what exactly this gateway project entails?
  14. Maybe I'm reading into this too much but if you look here https://wedge1.hcauditor.org/view/re/0750004001800/2018/summary It says the owner, Sycamore Diner LLC, address is; 312 WALNUT ST SUITE 3600 CINCINNATI OH 45202 If you google that you will find that Mayerson Organization is located in that address and in that suite. I might be connecting the wrong dots, but did a Jewish Non Profit Organization just purchase the diner? The Mayerson Organization apperantly awards grant funds for jewish related projects. https://www.mayersonfoundation.org/about/
  15. Is it just me, or is this a new rendering? It looks slightly altered compared to the previous renderings shown a year ago..did they change the color palatte or something? I don't know what it is, but it looks more appealing than it did before...
  16. Apparently a press release from the new owners will happen relatively soon...From what I understand it is NOT going to be a new Hang Over Easy location. Whatever it ends up becoming, I do hope it operates late night to cater to the main st bar crowds.
  17. I thought I heard that Kroger was moving their IT blue Ash workers to downtown..
  18. My wife is pregnant so she doesn't/can't do bars at the moment because she gets bored if it's just me sitting on a stool drinking. She loves Tokyo Kitty though because of the private karaoke rooms and the fun atmosphere. I'm a huge believer of dual purpose bars that offer more than just drinking and playing pool/darts.
  19. CBD needs some type of retail component. I don't care if it's a small target...a envision cinema with reclining chairs and dinner service with a comedy club attached...idk. CBD needs SOMETHING. Otherwise, fountain square will remain a lonely ghost town on weekdays when all the white collar workers go home after 5.
  20. Tokyo Kitty founder bringing new night life option to OTR, this time north of liberty. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2019/05/02/exclusive-jacob-trevino-turns-to-his-heritage-for.html?iana=hpmvp_cinci_news_headline Glad to see all of this great momentum happening now north of liberty.
  21. Cincinnati.com: Fountain Square bookseller: City favoring 3CDC and Kroger over retailers https://www.cincinnati.com/story/money/2019/05/02/fountain-square-bookseller-city-favoring-3-cdc-and-kroger-over-retailers/3648249002/ I sincerely hope 3cdc isn't simply planning to transfer Kroger office workers in the Macy building and call it a day. My guess is maybe 3cdc is looking to move Kroger workers to fountain square but would be a key tenant in a mixed use project in construction of a new tower their. I know their HQ is getting very full right now. Also, I'm almost wondering if Kroger could overtake the ground floor retail and make an Oakley inspired market place store and a Fred Meyer Jewelry store and make a target inspired store of sorts.
  22. https://www.citybeat.com/news/blog/21066972/city-of-cincinnati-taps-overtherhine-for-30-million-in-federal-affordable-housing-funds I hope that this money can hopefully go towards refurbishing some north liberty buildings that are in desperate need of attention.
  23. https://www.google.com/search?q=great+american+ball+park+2001&client=ms-android-sprint-us-revc&prmd=imsvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj6ndGchvnhAhVKI6wKHSSlBY8Q_AUoAXoECAwQAQ&biw=360&bih=512#imgrc=k4ocUkKeuNF0lM I mainly remember that....don't really recall any of the bars/olde spaghetti factory when I was a kid. Just a crap ton of parking lots.
  24. Like I've mentioned in the past, I still think a larger factor are integrated with the youth experience. Back when downtown was a wasteland, you would have a giant reds/bengals stadium in a sea of parking lots. The entire experience would literally be, park, walk in said giant parking lot crater, and go to the game, and go home. Very little was actually integrated with the experience of being, "downtown". This West End stadium is unique. It's situated to be very akin to a Wriggley Field/Fenway. Tons of dense architecture, bars/restaurant/theaters surrounding the stadium. I still envision kids having a wonderful game day experience by walking along Vine St, crossing Washington Park, and crossing Central Park Way to go to a FCC match. In my mind, this experience of seeing a crowded OTR/Downtown, with the street car passing by, smelling the food coming out of the restaurants, feeling the buzz and energy of life on the streets will become ingrained in the minds of these little kids. They will have a much different image and idea of what downtown is. This, "image" might be a large factor in pursuing an urban lifestyle when they become adults and hence further repopulate downtown down the road. I just know when I was a kid (early 2000's) downtown was a mess. The banks was a giant parking lot. Just walking on streets that neared or bordered OTR (like near the public library) was considered taboo and a massive sin by suburbanites. Fountain Square and the few surrounding streets were basically the only acceptable parts of being downtown when I was a kid. I grew up being taught downtown is gross! Downtown is a wasteland! Downtown is crime ridden full of thugs and gangsters! So when I turned 18 I desperately wanted to move, because I hated Cincinnati. I hated everything about it. These kids, hopefully, will be ingrained with a much different message about downtown...and I believe this will play a massive factor in our future core. I believe it's naive to say this is just a, "stadium". This isn't just a stadium. Most stadiums are still built in the suburbs, or surrounded in unattractive parts of downtown (Nashville Fairgrounds MLS stadium for instance)...This stadium is located in the heart of our cities heritage. It the heart of our cities culture. The heart of where all of our entertainment derives from.
  25. Looking at that, it makes sense why 3cdc might want to hold off on redeveloping the kroger site until they can somehow acquire the grammer lot. I just hope whatever development occurs, they will preserve that small story building, instead of demolishing it like the Grammers initially wanted to. It would be nice to do something similar to what 3cdc did with 15th and Vine, in which the infill preserved and was made the sole standing building a part of it's development.
