  1. I went down to the banks on Sunday to get some brunch as Taste of Belgium. I haven't been to downtown In a while, but I wasn't expecting things to be so bleak....I can't tell if it was just me noticing this, but I feel like there is exponentially more homeless people at the banks now. Maybe they were "hidden" because their were more people strolling around before covid came along.... For the first time, in a long time, I felt somewhat uncomfortable being at the banks. There were quite a few homeless men at smale park that were practically in their boxers with no shirt or shoes and were yelling sexual profanities to my wife and my little daughter... Obviously, this stuff happens in urban environments, but I never really experienced this at the banks before. It was odd...and quite frankly made me depressed. I know covid/riots caused alot of the new urban residents to leave/planning to leave downtown for the suburbs. I hope things return to normal soon because what I saw of our urban core that was once really bustling (relatively speaking) has grounded to a halt...it was just really unfortunate and depressing and more so for the banks that never really had any crime/homeless problem in the past.
  2. https://www.fox19.com/2020/08/16/police-people-injured-within-hour-after-multiple-shootings-city-cincinnati/ 17 shot, 4 dead in 3 massive shootings across Cincinnati today. Avondale, Walnut Hills and OTR. One of the worst 1 day shooting since the cameo night club incident. 2020 is on track to be the deadliest year for gun violence in the city of Cincinnati...can anyone explain like I'm 5 as to why the police aren't doing more about this spike in violence? Have they just given up? I'm just surprised the police chief/mayor of Cincinnati I'd experiencing serious heat after such a massive spike in violence across the city.
  3. What was the hold up with this project?.,I feel like it's taken forever to get this thing going...
  4. Oakley would have been an exponentially better location for where the Liberty Mall is now. Oakley has enough wealthy yuppies to fulfill a genuine retail corridor..so I'm not sure why some type of retail mall/center hasn't happened yet...
  5. Crazy idea, but why not move fountain square to Washington Park and create a small plaza with a seating area? It would like super impressive, especially with music hall in the background.
  6. Whenever I see Cincinnati on national TV it's shows shots of Musical Hall, 12th and Vine OTR, the banks, etc. It's rarely of fountain square anymore. I think our national imagine is really good nowadays, especially when they show the cobblele stone streets of otr with music hall lit in the background.
  7. I don't get how any new businesses now are rushing to open... especially if cases spike and there are new lockdown restrictions...just driving around town this weekend I noticed way more people at the grocery store versus at resturaunts...the bars were completely dead because of the new 10pm curfew. I just don't get how bars and restaurant operators arent hitting pause on opening new businesses until after the Pandemic is over. Right now it's probably the most uncertain economic times in us history, especially for Resturaunt and bar owners.
  8. Confused who is dying to buy a house during such uncertain times with this Pandemic and this shaky as hell econemy...
  9. People are going to be using the same bathroom facilities, standing in long line, thousands of people at once...no way Oktoberfest will happen this year. 2020, for the most part, is canceled.
  10. Why has it taken this this long to even consider Reopening?
  11. I feel like it's been years since 3cdc has demoed a historic building. They seem to be doing a better job of late with rehabbing versus immediate tear downs.
  12. Can't wait for when things get back to normal again so I can come and check out your place when it opens! Super stoked!
  13. So how does this work for someone like machine gun Kelly who is trying to open a new business during an ongoing pandemic? I'm assuming the leasing company will want to collect their rent money on the building as soon as the business opens correct? Is there a discount being applied by the leasing companies for the rent due to the pandemic? If not, I just don't see how this can remain open past a year....your essentially operating as a coffee shop with a branding that sort of alienates. I can see this being a semi decent club though...but without a vaccine it will be hard for this business to stay open long.. especially if they are not getting a break with their rent costs.
  14. I think this is huge news tbh. This will be massively popular when fcc opens up their west end stadiums during matches and I think this will finally give a little bit of credence to them being a local beer company (even though their located right across the river).
  15. https://www.citybeat.com/food-drink/whats-the-hops/blog/21140726/braxton-brewing-co-takes-over-pendletons-3-points-urban-brewery This is absolutely massive news for the Otr/Pendleton area... especially during these crappy times with covid. Sad to hear about 3 points...I feel the hickorywald group is really struggling right now. Its kinda because there was a time that it made it seems like they were becoming one of the bigger Resturaunt groups in otr.
  16. Music hall is literally a block down the road. Calm down lol
  17. The pony in otr on main street has shut down due to covid. Their Facebook post makes it seem temporary until conditions improve in Hamilton County.
  18. It also appears the apperal store, "Homage" has also closed. Not sure if permeantly or what. Everything is boarded up. Vine Street is going to be rough in the short term with how much has shuttered in the past month.
  19. Reminds me of Europe and how you have these modern soccer stadiums nestled in between old architecture. It will definitely be one of the more unique settings for the MLS.
  20. I realize that this is uncontrollable and doesn't happen every day.. still sad to see otr make sooo much progress only for something like this to happen and create so much backwards progress. It just sucks is all I'm saying.
  21. Does anyone have the link to the reddit post about Braxton potentially taking over 3 points? I cant seem to find it on r/Cincinnati
  22. Is it true the Senate is also permeantly closing? I've heard rumors but didn't know if they were true or not? This pandemic plus the riots have been absolutely devestating for the urban core. I'm not sure how many years it will take for everything to go back to the "steady" normal otr was experiencing pre-covid/riots. 3cdc is going to have a hell of alot of work to do to fill these empty retail spots in the near future. Hopefully their financial stability won't suffer either with all of this going on.
  23. Kinda scary to see so many businesses shutter one after another in otr/Pendleton...
  24. I'm not sure how the HCB would approve the design as is. It looks like the developer completely disregarded the historic guidelines for the neighborhood. Also, why is it that 9 times out of 10 affordable apartment blocks always look like something that was inspired by a prison? Is it really that hard to make colorful and vibrant and inspired affordable housing?
  25. Madison has alot of potential that's not being utilized imo. It could be a really nice little tourist town, especially since it's so close to big cities like Louisville/Cincinnati/Indy. It has a really unique small town, "hallmark" feel, it's just missing the unique shops like Yellow Springs has. The resturaunts there is solid as hell though. The places there have great food.
