  1. Yeah I've always wondered why that is as well..
  2. Interesting...kenwood mall stll has quite a few vacant store fronts inside the mall, and have struggled to find a new tenant for almost 3 years now for the old gap store on the lower level.
  3. https://otrch.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Beyond-the-Building-Project-Renderings.pdf More renderings of OTR Community Housing Project adjacent to Washington Park.
  4. Not sure how up to date this rendering is, but it shows a proposed development across the street from cross roads clifton (where those giant lots are) Project is named, "Block 1' https://www.newrepublicarchitecture.com/block-one
  5. New 5 story infill project at 1505-1507 Vine St was presented in the latest HCB packet. Interestingly there was no rendering provided in the packet..Anyone know why that may be? https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/buildings/historic-conservation/historic-conservation-board/march-25-2019-staff-report-and-attachments/
  6. Why aren't the owners penalized in that case for allowing there owned property to become a public nusinance?
  7. https://www.citybeat.com/food-drink/the-dish/blog/21060423/sundry-and-vice-team-opening-comfort-station-cocktail-bar-in-a-centuryold-walnut-hills-rest-areabathing-house?utm_source=feature&utm_medium=home&utm_campaign=hpfeatures Sundry and Vice owner opening 2nd bar in Walnut hills. Again, the amount of entertainment destinations are increasing tremendously year over year. I'm really pleased with the Walnut hills redevelop of their business district!
  8. They are relocating, but haven't given details yet.
  9. The area around fountain square is becoming even more depressing. Boi Na Braza the long time Brazilian steakhouse house announced it's closing at it's fountain square location. Hopefully 3cdc is hard at work...
  10. https://www.wcpo.com/news/transportation-development/move-up-cincinnati/will-city-file-public-nuisance-complaint-against-downtowns-largest-hotel Hopefully we see development on the new hotel sooner rather than later...the millennial hotel is the epitome of awful first impressions to first time visitors.
  11. Is saks not already a hole though? It operates only for 8 hours of the day, closes at 6pm, and sells clothes that only the top 20 percent of the top earning income bracket can afford. Give me a mixed use site with small local botiques/bars/resturaunts, etc and a residential tower built above.
  12. Parking is already bad enough on the weekend and especially during holidays...not sure how getting rid of parking will be a positive experience for Kenwood mall customers...
  13. Dayton is the epitome of ghost town. It never ceases to amaze me how dead it is during weekday rush hour, and how even more so during the weekend. Dayton's got a lot of good architectural bones, but the many empty storefronts and lack of street traffic is eerie to say the least. I'm kind of curious if we will be able to see a record 4 cranes with the construction of the West end fcc stadium? Wonder what the timing construction schedule is to bring a crane in for that project?
  14. The quick turn around in Walnut hills is nuts. Lots of food options nowadays... Just need a little more night life options.
  15. So how does this stop from all the construction workers quickly taking these flex spots....
  16. Real talk, when will we ever be able to really push for a robust rapid public transit system that connects many of the urban neighborhoods, and the suburbs? Parking in OTR is already bad. It's only get worse, especially as more of OTR gets redeveloped, gentrification of further urban core neighborhoods, population increase in the urban core/inner ring suburbs...More people, more cars, less and less accessible parking....At some point, this concept of, "easy" parking will get worse and worse. At some point, there is going to be have some legit conversations about a rapid transit system to alleviate this issue.
  17. Probably a BDSM club. Would fit the neighborhood quite well.
  18. That's a pretty big sized lot. Thought it would have taken a while before any developer prioritized that area.
  19. Not sure if this is the right place, but with the Shriners Hospital reportedly closing and relocating to Dayton hopefully means we can see a new large mixed use development similar to the old Deaconess hospital with new residential/retail/hotels, office
  20. So no new tower structure over the old Macy building? That will be severely disappointing if it's only a man made forest tourist trap...unless they can intergrate bars, resturaunts, cafes, etc inside the proposed, "forest" and create an entertainment emporium of sorts inside the Forest. That would be admittedly cool.
  21. Update on your update...Council members announced on twitter they have pushed forward a resolution to continue with the 5 lane option and have 6 votes needed to proceed with this plan without further Public input sessions. The 6 votes also allow it be veto proof for mayor cranely. This is scheduled for Wednesday.
  22. So based off tweets from various council members it sounds like the 5 lane configuration of the liberty St diet will have 6 votes and be passed to move forward on Wednesday (rather than more pointless public input meeting)...Not sure what this means for the start date? Hopefully later this summer perhaps? I've also lost all respect for the owners of Taft Ale House. The owners have publicly criticized the residental permit parking, and the 5 lane configuration of liberty street. They even proclaimed that the anchor closed because of the permit parking, and that otr businesses will go the same route. Shame on him, especially when he knows and the whole otr business community knows the anchor has been on the solid decline with there menu quality for a solid year now, and that the otr resturaunt competition has become only more populated and intense in recent years. It honestly sounds like there owners live in Mason and are a far cry of being true urbanists..which is ultimately quite unfortunate. At least the founder of rheingeist lives in otr and has been a good ambassador for progressing urban ideology.
  23. I'm really excited for this project and what it means for north of liberty. You rarely see people actively walking between north of liberty and south of liberty. Typically you see clusters that stick around Vine, race, main, Pendelton etc. Hopefully this can be a new node that can help bridge that south and north disconnect.
  24. So will the developer of Freeport row own the additional land parcel created by the liberty St diet?
  25. http://www.wvxu.org/post/council-majority-liberty-street-road-diet-needs-move-forward So if a council majority is saying the design process meetings should discontinue, and they should focus on implementing the approved 5 lane design, then what would be the next process? Would city council vote to approve the funding for the current 5 lane design? And would that mean instead of the proposed 2020 start date (due to the current community design input sessions..again...) would be pushed back earlier to maybe late summer/fall 2019 instead? I just want this to be over already...
