Before next March is what I heard. It will be a sit down European restaurant with a vodka bar. The walk up window is phase 1.

That is a safe assumption. There is also the new bar on main St behind the folks from road tripper's. It's on the opposite side of the the street from liberty bar and bottle. I believe it's called Garden Bar and Bizarre but I'm not sure how far they are away from opening.

I don't think the Levee was envisioned just as family oriented area. I'm sure the vision was a hopping family outdoor mall district by day and a night life district by sundown which it is not. I'm not saying that the new developers can't enchance the current experience, but I have my doubts on it ever becoming a place that 21 year olds flock to (like they did when downtown Cincy was dead and dangerous). For what it's worth I fine new port on the Levee nice in overall design. Its design is much nicer than the banks, and I really love the views of Cincy skyline. That said if I'm dropping 50 plus dollars on me and my gf on a date night meal Im not spending that money on a chain. I'd rather eat at some of the unique eateries at mainstrasse. Same goes for drinking. I'm not drinking at a bar Louie for Christ sake. Also, for what it's worth, the new tree house at Newport has been struggling mightily. So dead compared to the otr location.

Newport on the Levee is a total failure in my opinion. Maybe it was somewhat successful when otr and downtown Cincy was still considered dangerous by many during the early 2000's...Now Newport on the Levee serves no purpose what so ever. They really should have developed the area as mixed use with residential units above, and there should have been a bigger focus on drawing hotels, office space, residential units, and other organic neighborhood elements. They should have also not have targeted these massive restaurant and bar chains and focused on developing smaller square footage ground floor retail space and focused on developing local restaurants, bars, cafes etc.. How many of these big restaurant chaind are floundering and you have this massive space that will only suit another chain. They sort of screwed themseleves. Best bet is to demolish the new port on the Levee and start over. This current format needs a massive overhaul if they ever want to compete with any of Cincinnatis bustling entertainment districts.

I would argue that the banks, especially during the summer it is quite hopping. The streets were crowded, the bars were packed. The atmosphere was quite strong. It definitely struggles in the winter time and probably had alot to do with lack of sport activities. I feel like alot of people flock to otr because its entertainment package is more dense. Main Street alone offers roughly 15 bars at this point, otr alone probably has 30-35 bars. The banks has like what? 4 bars? 1 live music venue bar and club with Galla Park. It's just not the same experience honestly.

Interesting. Sounds like the vision could be something equivalent with the banks and the stadiums surrounding it? Perhaps creating a west end zone with with a block of retail/residential.

Correct they will have a carry out taco window. Also Zundo is open till 2:30 am on the weekends and Taste of Belgium is now open till 1 am as well.

Just a heads up Babushka Perogies is opening Friday at 1200 main at the old royal spot. It will be a carry out window operating from 7pm to 2:30 am.Open only on weekends. Will feature classic perogies, Cincinnati chili perogies and pizza perogies. Also will feature Russian tea. The vodka bar is still on track for early next year. Nice to see this ongoing trend of carryout windows opening throughout otr. Now we currently have: Philly cheese steak Window Boom Box Buns Perogies Window Gomez Window Goodfellas Lucy Blue Glad to see otr late night options expanding slowly but surely.

Random question...what ever happened to the old user on this site "Micheal L. Redmond"?? I saw his username all over the the otr project threads back in the mid 2000's. He always seemed to champion otr during the rougher days and seemed like he was quite in the know with the current projects that were during those times.

It was more about the perception of otr 12 years ago, versus the perception of otr today. I heard a conversation, these were suburbanite 21-23 year olds talking about rhinegeist. One girl asked the guy if he had ever been to otr, and he said not yet. She replied you should check out it's really cool. It's just a different mentality nowadays. Especially with the younger generation who were very little during the riots and otr crime collapse.

And to think literally 12 years ago, there are threads and posts on this very forum on the state of otr and the immense crime and how it was essentially a doomed neighborhood. How the cbd was just as dangerous and no suburbanite would dare to step foot anywhere close downtown, especially that bordered close to otr. Literally 12 years later, we have a new world class urban grocery store with dense resdential units on Central parkway, a world class soccer stadium that will draw tourists from all over America and other parts of the world, future developments of central parkway with hotels, bars/restaurants, day care facilites, offices, etc...all the while otr is becoming the literal beating heart of cincys business and tourism for suburbanite and people from across the globe. Its crazy. Especially since it felt like yesterday when otr was declared as America's most dangerous neighborhood and on a list of the most endangered neighborhoods.
