Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
So this is kind of related to cincinnati, kinda not. Amazon announced Nashville will be getting an amazon corporate tower in downtown nashville with 5,000 new workers and high paying jobs. I remember nashville as a little kid, teenager. It was always a mid sized city that had a strong base with country music. Obviously that's grown a bit over the years....But I've always been scratching my head as to why Nashville is the new, "BIG" city. I drove by, construction cranes everywhere. There skyline is growing at a crazy fast pace. Towers popping up everywhere...and all I can do is ask where, how, who, why? I understand the country music industry has some effect, but why are all of these jobs relocating to Nashville? What's causing this? What resource is nashville pulling in that makes every new resident and job to move there? And how can cincinnati replicate this? Nashville makes me jealous, because it's growth is what I've wanted to see from cincy...and they were literally identical sized cities a decade ago, and now nashville just went crazy...

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
OTR Main St continues to be on fire with its late night offering. Babushka Perogies opening up a Perogie late night take out window, and full service vodka bar at the former royal spot. Pins, Platform, and Babushka are all supposed to be open by end of December.

Can someone confirm that 1518 Race was recommended from staff for approval? These packets get kind of confusing to decipher sometimes.... Im gathering from this it was: The backlash from the community is quite head scratching. They are calling out the density for the project, 15 units...You would think you would want increased density in OTR, which would not only create added foot traffic and allow more eyes on the street to deter any drug dealing or crime, but also supplement nearby businesses with new residents who will be spending their money 7 days a week in otr.

New York City: Developments and News
Legit question...is there even a middle class in NYC anymore? Or is it essentially incredibly wealthy expats, and wealthy generational families? My past vacation to NYC, mind you for 3 days, cost me over 5k. My hotel, was modest at best. I just didn’t want anything w/ cockroaches and bedbugs. Cost me 575$ a night. Again MODEST at BEST. Probably a 2.5 star hotel in most cites. The restaurants were out of control. Why am I paying 9 bucks for a regular cup of coffee that I would normally buy for 2$? Why am I paying 24 dollars for a burger that would typically cost me 7$ at best...why is this Diet Coke 4$?!!! I see so many young people to...assuming they live in the city how in the hell are they affording this? Is mommy and daddy giving them blank checks ala carte essentially. I would take it a step further, how do public safety (cops, firefighters, EMT, etc) afford to live in the city? I have to imagine it’s penny pinching to the max if they do. The prices in NYC are becoming a utopia for the rich and wealthy. I’m surprised more folks aren’t creating a massive uproar about this. It’s literal insanity.

Just saw some renderings that are floating around for the new infill building that will replace the Kroger site on Vine. Looks very akin to the Mercer Building imo.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
In the latest hcb packet it appears that 1518 Race Infill (15 units, ground floor retail) has been approved by the HCB. Also more pleasant st development. That street in 5 years will probably be completely built out at this rate.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Is their anyone “in the know” with the current status of the race st infill project which was delayed because of a printing company occupying the space? Do we know if the printing company finally had left the space that was slated to be demolished? Also, this is an aside but I hope we figure out what (if any) plans there are for the last block of walnut st are/grammars Bar. The bar in particular is starting to look worse and worse, and that block of walnut is probably the least developed block in all of south of liberty. Hopefully we find out Wade will do, I still really liked those old renderings that were shown a few years ago. Sad it’s dead now.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Can anyone explain why it's taking so long for the old Lachey's spot to find a new tenant? It's nearing a year since they announced their closing, and I would've thought that the space would have found a new tenant much quicker than it currently has... It's in a prime spot in OTR. Next to a parking garage, right along the street car line as well. But alas, it's still vacant. I've heard in the past that 3cdc is very difficult to work with, and charge very high rent rates to businesses leasing their spaces...this makes me wonder if their is some truth to this..especially considering Urban Sites has been filling in new tenants left and right for their recent projects.

I really hope the gondola rumor is true...would be a great addition to otr. Would instantly be a tourist destination for those visiting.

Awesome news! Any clue which building Queen City Radio is trying to occupy?

Ive always been curious if that park will remain a park once gentrifcation reaches north of liberty, or if they will reverse that land back for new construction infill. Seems like a waste to leave it as a park imo.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
Whats ironic is that you made a reddit thread on fc cincinnati forum about how to best utilize your land that you own that’s located right next to the stadium. Your one of the few on this forum who are poised to profit most out of any of us from fcc stadium being located in the west end.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 1010 On The Rhine / Downtown Kroger
Why are there way more Cleveland-ers on this forum? I always found it strange that it’s hugely disproportionate compared to Columbus and Cincy.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Heard from someone higher up who works with Eli’s BBQ that they will not renew their lease at the findley market location and will relocate south of liberty to a larger location with more seating area. If true, I can understand why. The hours are at the findley market location are super limited and the seating area is super tiny inside.

It’s a tap room plus restaurant....hopefully the food is decent.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2018/10/23/exclusive-columbus-craft-brewery-opening-massive.html Brew Dog announces the the location of its new MASSIVE Tap Room + Restaurant in Pendleton... 316 Reading Road in Pendleton https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1084847,-84.5090169,3a,75y,355.35h,90.44t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sh_CTYDOIgapZbNY-jEf_5g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Its a pretty large location, 8,500 Sq ft in total. Also, this is an interesting location...you sort of forget about the reading road portion of otr. Especially since there aren’t any ground floor retail/bars + restaurants. It will be great to reactivate this area of Pendleton that has long been an after thought and introduce new foot traffic and perhaps draw some new businesses alongside brew dog.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
CBD is so disconnected from OTR that I find it hard to imagine that CBD will ever be able to restore it's once, "shopping retail hub". Judging by 3cdc latest lease signings, I imagine they have a vision of Vine St being an upscale corridor with luxury retailers and dining. I still predict that within 10-15 years, as OTR pushes the revitalization north of liberty that we will eventually see an urban Apple Store, a Starbucks, and perhaps well known clothing brands like H&M and Express have urban stores that occupy multiple floors of OTR buildings. Hell, even having an urban McDonalds like you see in most big cities would be quite nice as well (especially during late night bar hopping excursions)... Eventually rent is going to reach a point in OTR where it will be hard for mom and pop retailers to survive. Of course this is a good and bad thing. Overall, if OTR and Cincinnati are to reach a point of being a major tourist destination city, we will need luxury brand retailers in our urban core. I don't see CBD being that area (at least not for the foreseeable future), but I do see OTR fitting that mold. OTR is so distinct, it's architecture otherworldly at times, making you feel like you've stepped back in a time machine. The amount of pedestrians on a nice saturday/sunday afternoon, the energy on the street, is just the complete opposite of what is currently happening in the CBD (which feels like a ghost town after everyone leaves from work at 5pm). The area in itself is almost like a 2nd downtown for Cincinnati all together. So distinct, yet so separated, even though CBD and OTR border right next to each other. Also it's worth mentioning, there are already so many tourists staying in the airbnbs down their it's insane. More times than not I will run into folks down in OTR (most of the time asking where X bar is, or Y restaurant is) who are from different cities, but congregate to the area and lodge in the area because they know it's, "THEE" spot to be in downtown Cincinnati. It's not unfathomable to see OTR (especially the vine street corridor from south - north of liberty) becoming Cincinnati's new, "City Center", flooded with tourists and expats.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Blonde (Eighth & Main)
Good. There is no reason the CBD main st should be a rugged ghost town (even in the day at times), while a few blocks over main st in otr is hopping and bustling.

Makes me wonder if Rhinegeist might pursue a second location in otr to supplement the extra needed tanks for future growth.

Huge plans for Cliffsyde Brewery building in OTR in the latest HCB packet. Plans include 1 story infill, beer garden, event community space, small parking garage and basement space for a brewery space.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
What a monumental day for OTR. It would have been such a shame to see a toned down version of the diet with nothing but bump outs like Cranley wanted. Glad PG Sittenfield stepped up to the plate and got city council to sit down and negotiate. I know that some were opposed to the FCC stadium in the West End because of the potential impending doom that it may have brought to the Liberty St diet...but I'm glad we got the best of both worlds; A world class MLS stadium that will draw people from across our suburbs, Ohio, and various states and countries to visit OTR for the very first time...and a long needed diet to Liberty Street that will drastically improve the connectivity of South and North of Liberty into one cohesive historic area (again), and aide in pedestrian safety and walk-ability. It's a win-win in my book.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Maybe there is still a chance: PG Sittenfeld: “Definitely still alive. I think there's a great opportunity for someone like say, @votePASTOR, to play hero here on a totally non-partisan issue. Alternatively, @ChrisSeelbach and@dsmann115 could potentially reach a compromise between themselves.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
I’m not 100% sure....I imagine if they put bumpouts and carry through with the watered down version then the original version will be dead for good.
