  1. I was expecting these lots to take a while to develop...perhaps the Ziegler park garage, along with the future Kroger parking garage by the court house allievated some of the parking demand in that area... Hopefully the developer will do this lot justice. It’s easily the largest lot remaining in otr, and could probably house hundreds of residents. I’m personally hoping for a mix use of ground floor retail, office space, residential. I’m also hoping that this could perhaps allow for some new entertainment options like a Comedy club/boutique movie theater/etc. I’ve always felt like otr needed some Newport on the levee type of entertainment aside from, bars/clubs/restaurants.
  2. I’m sort of curious if we know who purchased those massive sycamore lots? I wonder if it would show up on the Hamilton County property auditor page? I was under the impression that the the Levine law group owned those lots...so I’m curious if there were any property transfers done.
  3. Correct. They had donation goals set on the their website to rehab those buildings for religious housing for nuns. I just hope they do the right thing and sell the parking lots they own to a developer. They can easily earn a lot of money for those lots.
  4. Um woah...for the whole lot? That’s been by dream since forever
  5. An of course the new infill project in Pendleton
  6. EMC was based off of a concept that's really popular in Chicago. I'm sad to see it go because these kinds of small urban markets come in handy for neighborhood residents who don't always want to go to the grocery but still are willing to pay the extra cost (that and high quality goods). Hoping that this doesn't set back urban markets in Cincy a few years. I’m not sure why it would. The majority of north liberty residents can’t afford the prices of emc... just wrong location. Otr is simply not gentrified enough yet to sustain such a business yet imo
  7. Convert the shell station into a Kroger fuel station...there’s none in the urban core except, I think the Newport location....I mean most of the people living in the cbd and otr still have cars and earn go to the new cbd Kroger to earn fuel points...but for what if there is no fuel station nearby. Simple solution for me would Kroger to buy out the shell and convert to a Kroger station.
  8. louvino is charging 18$ for glasses of wine and 16$ for chicken egg rolls...maybe not upscale, but still expensive. Much more expensive than any other current eatery on main. And pins isn’t upscale, your right. But it’s definitely an entertainment hub, and more so than 16 bit will be. Not sure if you’ve ever been to the Columbus location but it is always packed. Shoulder to shoulder crowds. Pins will drive a lot of day time traffic and night time traffic and that can only be a benefit for the other businesses on main st in the long run as people are walking to and from pins.
  9. The royal was quite lit at night...you could see it was an eatery from the drinkery....you could also see that it was dead inside and the cooks and greeter were literally standing by the front door waiting eagerly for a customer. It just never worked for whatever reason. The next BIG restaurant opening next week is LouVino. It’s a huge get for main st, and could be a game changer. Since it’s going to located right next to Pins that will drive pedestrian traffic to that stretch of main. With Alladins and soon Lou Vino I am generally curious if main st will slowly shift to a vine st of sorts with upscale expensive restaurants?
  10. The royal lacked an identity. They went from staying open late at night, with hamburgers, to closing early, to only selling breakfast and lunch items. Besides, the vast majority of people go to otr to experience unique food items. The last thing people want is hamburgers that they can already find with the nation or sacred beast. You got to be unique when it comes to the otr food scene and have an identity that’s unique. The royal lacked that in spades.
  11. New OTR Restaurant, "Social OTR" has a launched a Kickstarter. It has partnered with CityLink, to help and connect underprivileged individuals train in the culinary industry while placing full time jobs at the new restaurant to help learn while also making a living wage. Kickstarter goal is 20K Cincinnati Biz Journal Article: https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2018/08/14/exclusive-new-restaurant-at-findlay-market-will.html
  12. I’ve long been curious about this... But the land along east liberty (closer to l liberty hill) and the check cashing place...is that land developable? I noticed it’s mainly grass/shrubs and trees, but I wasn’t sure if that space could fit any type of mixed use development? I also hope that along reading the suburban looking staples building with the parking lot that’s close to Pendleton and the casino can eventually be developed as well. It seems like a waste, and that short stretch of reading, along with the check cashing place could perhaps be absorbed into the fabric of otr/Pendleton and gain more use than what it is currently...
  13. So some good news for once...the appeals court denied the demolition of the Davis furniture building in today’s ruling.
  14. Doesn’t that building border the Cincinnati ballet building? I have to imagine that fcc is probably pushing efforts to have Cincy ballet relocate in order to acquire that space.
  15. Weird....I know fortus has applied for demolition permits for the old boys and girls club on Logan st...maybe that has something to do with the delay?
  16. Any updates on Elm and Liberty? Drove by this morning and still looks like no movement has made on the site. I was under the impression that fortus had all the financing in place so I’m not sure why the promised summer start date is being prolonged...

This might be a rhetorical question, but if this is a, "private" park is it legal for the owners to allow illegal drug activity on their private land? Do laws not abide anymore if the land is designated private? Curious, because im sure the owners of the lot know what is going on in that sub park. No actual otr resident uses that park, and I always try to avoid that street at night because i'm afraid of becoming a victim.

I mean they can also take the drug dealers with them on the way out. I'd almost rather have homeless camps, than drug dealers who could mug you at any time to increase his paystub for the day. That lot really should be developed by now....Advocates complain that OTR doesn't have enough affordable housing, and gentrification and blah blah blah...yet they are sitting on an empty lot that is used for drug dealers, and homless camps...what a joke these organizations are. They only look out for themselves in the end.
  19. Urban Sites has been killing it. I feel like once 3cdc steps back from OTR development, we will be in really good hands if Urban Sites decides to pick up where 3cdc left off. They seem super competent as developers.

Which speaks volumes about how much of a success story OTR has been...OTR is creating chains, but also attracting chains, which is a perfect recipe for the neighborhooods long term vitality.
  21. Toronto is probably one of my favorite cities in North America. The only thing that sucks is that it literally has become a city dwarfed by look alike skyscraper after look alike skyscraper. I feel like these architects must be suicidal, having there talents go to waste on high rise buildings that simply look like it came out of a Walmart 3d printer. To make matters worse, I visited Toronto a few weeks ago, and I noticed how a block that used to neighbor elegant historic stock became a pile of ruble, fenced for a new residential tower. It's sad. Toronto is growing at a crazy fast pace, but I feel like Toronto officials could have done more about preservation in company with all the new development.
  22. To be fair it’s sort of hard to create sizes or density with those old roe houses. I feel that certain parts of the city, especially otr, should be preserved. But there should also be a balance of looking at the past but also the future. We can keep every historic building, but we can also tear it down and create a student housing building that can hold 150 residents and students. It’s a tough balance. The worst is demolishing for the sake of a parking lot. I think that is the definition of pure evil.

I'm sort of surprised there sticking around the cbd of cincy, and haven't simply jumped across the river to NKY...

I saw this one and would have stopped but the last thing we had stopped for was coffee and you can only convince a non coffee drinking travel partner to stop for more coffee so many times. I saw this... guess I'll will just have to come back soon. Also I didn't realize Aladdin's was right next door. Can we nickname this part of OTR "Little Cleveland" ;) Cleve-Ville-Bus...since a Pins Mechanical Co is opening right across the street from Platforms. Main St, is more regional chains nowadays than the rest of OTR>
  25. Do we know if Dennard was in attendance at all during this prior week meeting?
