Cincinnati's Homeless Population
Great news. It's hard to encourage surburban folk to try, "urban living" when the streets reek of piss, you can visually see human feces on the side walk from the homeless, and encounter constant harassment from the homeless to give, "change", and encounter multiple police visits a night to these said camps. Good to see this city is finally growing a pair. I know there needs to more affordable housing options. I understand that. But the majority of these homeless tent residents enjoy there way of life, and enjoy the fact that they can freely be on heroin and drink alcohol whenever they want. They enjoy that freedom. I can't wait to see Josh Springs load these tent residents on a bus and plop them in Warren County on the streets of West Chester. It's gonna be hilarious!

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
It sounds like we have our 4 in support Landesman PG Seelbach Young Do we know where the other 2 council members stand, Tamaya Dennard, and David Mann on pushing through with the diet?
-
Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Slight update...seems like Greg Landesman is on board with pushing forward with the Liberty St Road Diet, and is calling for a special meeting on sept 4th.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Woodburn Brewery has closed its doors, and is under a current suspension for sales tax evasion. Hopefully this gets cleared, and is not a sign that the brewery business was going under.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Or you know because there is a million dollar budget gap...which sounds like the more realistic reason why the pause and the other reason is just given as an excuse...

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The 360 from last year to this year on Main Street is incredible. The street went from sort of dead and sketchy at times, to a street that’s comparable to the bustle of vine. I believe there has been more than 8 new businesses open this year on main.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
How will they cover the cost of the new gap if it does pass?
-
Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
So what’s the next step? Will there be any special council meeting in the coming weeks to actually take a vote on any type of ordinance to push the diet through?
-
Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Is there anything city council can do, or even vote on? Any type of finance package or anything?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Hopefully this means they won’t have to cut down the trees like they always have done in years past, a hopefully this means walnut can finally become properly streetscaped.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
This comes across as PG, “striking while the iron is hot.”....Totally feels like his motivation is to win political points towards urban residents come mayoral election season. He’s been taking credit on a lot of things lately...not to mention taking credit for bringing the FCC/West End deal together...now he could also take credit for saving the Liberty Street Diet Project. It sounds all very strategic in a weird conspiracy type of way...

A Taste of Philly will open on 13th St, right next to Brown Bear Bakery. Will stay open until 3am. I met the owner, he seemed like a really nice guy and offered me a free cheese steak! As I've expressed before, I definitely think OTR needs more late night food options as the OTR continues to blossom with it's night life. I'm happy that we are slowly seeing these small hole in the wall options pop up, and I'm happy it's something different than the typical, pizza/taco/hot dog option that you would already typically find in otr. I'm still holding my breath for when someone from Urban Ohio forum (who has the money to do so lol) will open up a Chili parlor down in OTR. It doesn't even have to be that good, just have it be cincinnati chili style with 3 ways, chili fries, and conies and that's all you would need to satisfy drunk patrons at 3am.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
At the very least it seems like the emails are raising the alarm bells at city council. Again, if anyone has yet to shoot an email, take a few minutes to do so. [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Not sure what the outcome will be, but I'm glad Seelbach and PG are in agreement that the Liberty St diet shouldn't be paused for the sake of bending down towards FCC. Hopefully, city administration will feel enough heat from the public and decide to overturn their decision to pause this project.

Quick Cincinnati Visit
Do yourself and go to a fc Cincinnati game. They play Nashville tomorrow. They are both mls expansion teams, and it’s expected to be a huge crowd. Even if you are not a big fan of soccer, I highly recommend it since it’s an atmosphere and experience like any other. Tickets should still be available and they are only 15$ Plus go to otr after, it will be packed after the game.

Appears that a new Philly Cheese Steak concept is opening on 13th St near Brown Bear Bakey. It will be called 13tb St Alley: A taste of philly...it will stay open late and have a carry out window.

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
There is a rumor floating around that fcc will focus on 30,000 seats for the West End stadium right from the get to, as opposed to 21-25k and a second phase for 30k+

Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Again guys, here is the email address for all city council members: [email protected] Reaching out and urging to city council might help, or it might not. But the worst thing you can do is be complacent and do nothing. It takes 2 minutes to write a quick email, explaining that you support the road diet, and the lives and safety of pedestrians is more vital than the importance of fcc game day traffic flow.
-
Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
It was an update given by the same transportation head who was working the otr community council to design the road diet. It’s not a rumor sadly. Again I urge everyone to email city council and express that pedestrian safety trumps soccer traffic that would occur for a few hours on a Saturday.
-
Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
I urge everyone who wants to see this project carry through to email city council members and urge them that we want to see the liberty road diet carried through and not delayed. [email protected] to reach all members of council at once.
-
Cincinnati: Liberty Street Road Diet
Latest news coming out is that the road diet has been put on hold because of fears of fcc traffic. Sad if true.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
Pretty big development proposal for 3rd and Main in the latest HCB packet. New Rear addition, and seems the buildings will be rehabbed and converted into a hotel. https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/buildings/historic-conservation/historic-conservation-board/august-6-2018-staff-report-and-attachments/

This makes a lot of sense for rhinegeist. I’m not really familiar with the craft brewery scene, but I’m not sure how many of the large capicity craft breweries and actually located dead center in the urban core. The more people they can fill around rhinegeist the more they can grow and expose there brand.

Whatever happened to that plan to construct infill on that lot adjacent to music hall? I believe at one point there was a proposed restaurant/beer garden?
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I didn’t realize that franz Fund owned 28 individual parcels on Renner St alone....I also didn’t realize that Bellevue Park (the proposed location of the rumor for the beer garden/gondola concept) was so close to renner st either...if the gondola rumor was true and would connect to Bellevue park then rhinegeist purchasing that land on renner st makes sense.
