  1. If you email the department that administers the awards they will send a complete list of applicants and projects. I did not request one this round but have in the past.
  2. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2023/12/14/city-manager-sheryl-long-performance-review.html interesting article, Sheryl Long has been relatively quiet in the media for being City Manager. It is concerning that the feedback is that it’s 1) hard to do business with the city and 2) there is zero in the pipeline for housing projects. I imagine there is some macro economic issues with projects (interest rates / cost of labor etc) but I am curious if the current City Manager is either rejecting market rate proposals to save face with “affordability advocates” or using perfect as the enemy of good? Regardless, nothing on the docket to close out the year seems odd.
  3. What size was the rumored scaled up version?
  4. If that project scores well on the TMUD application then that process is very broken. There is nothing “transformative” about putting a strip center in a field intentionally isolated from its surroundings.
  5. Everyone has their own interpretation, but I would not call the 84.51 project dumb. It secured a lot of high-paying jobs to stay in the City. You could argue the building should only take half the block (which I agree with) and be taller. But it is hard to say no to that project and with the reason being "maybe in 15 years we will expand the convention center here".
  6. So 50% affordable units and the OTRCC still objects to it? They come off as unreasonable to the point where their "concerns" can't be taken as valid.
  7. There should be some kind of rule around needing a critical mass to appeal when you have no actual standing. 1 random person holding up development when 99.9% of people either do not care or support it is a dumb process.
  8. The handful of individuals, with no standing, gatekeeping development in OTR is getting old.
  9. Ha! When I first read "Biotech Cincinnati Life Science Research Park for Innovation" I thought it had to be a catchy sounding acronym but BCLSRPI isnt great either... That being said - It feels like that CTI Lab Space is going here?
  10. I am not privy to any of their future plans are in terms of growth. That being said, I have always thought X needs to pivot towards more STEM and add engineering and medical in order to grow and adapt to the future needs/wants to students and the region. That is likely more complicated than it sounds being historically a liberal arts school.
  11. Disappointing due to its location. It will likely be 2024 before something else opens there. When Royce first opened I believe there were rumblings of the staff walking out (if I recall correctly). Not sure if that was related to lack of getting paid or the work environment.
  12. I believe the lanes were removed prior to the Brewery being involved in the project.
  13. While I agree it is not the best-looking. I am assuming that was put up by the developer behind the single family homes being built there - as the fencing is facing "out" from the new homes.
  14. Shocking who is behind the appeal to stop it! /s Also in the article the quote about Waller saying "They didn't personally call me to let me know they were going to start"... yeah I don't think that is how the world operates.
  15. The land at Liberty / Elm was sold for $4.5M to an LLC which appears to be associated with Indianapolis based Buckingham Companies
  16. Yeah Dillingham seems to be the type of person that would be opposed to anything being built if the people involved made any profit from the project.
  17. This is great, so the hotel can be caught up in appeals court hearings for the next 3-5 years. /s
  18. The housing is great and likely needed. But the Port's "mission" (at least the one widely broadcasted) is to create good paying jobs on under utilized land. Which is difficult as many manufactures want unencumbered green space to build on not something in a city. But ~1,000 manufacturing jobs here paying a solid wage would do a lot for opportunities for existing residents/attract new residents.
  19. Looks like there will be a parking lot at the former Davis Furniture site.
  20. Hyde Park Plaza has the potential to be a re-imagined retail/residential center. It's location really cannot be recreated but it seems the owners are content with it as a single story strip center.
  21. There are obvious flaws with the layout/execution of Oakley Station which are very fair. But in total housing units: Boulevard: ~400 apartments Graphite: ~350 apartments Arcadia Townhomes: ~100 homes One hotel completed, and another one on the way. That is a good amount of density - hopefully the rest of the development sees some more traction.
  22. I believe the former Tempur Pedic space is going to be a stand-alone Gucci store (there was a note on the door that said Gucci last time I was there). I know they recently opened in Easton as well.
  23. I am taking the "nightclub" proposal with a grain of salt... this list seems like a throw everything out there and see what sticks. I believe the full / complete report is due later this year.
  24. Redevelopment of 4th/Walnut to ~350 units. This plus 4th/Elm + 4th/Race is adding nearly 1,000 units to that corridor.
