Yeah - I do not know why anyone would buy that land now. Nothing will satisfy NIMBY demands and will always move the goal posts.

His "win" is a large lot on a prime corner of downtown remaining vacant and multiple historic building left to continue to deteriorate. This will do nothing to "help affordable housing" in the area - and will likely make it worse. It is nuts to me that a lone citizen, that has zero standing, can stop a development on land he doesn't own or have a party to.

The Hyatt ballroom is going to be a huge challenge because they will not want to give that up, and I am not sure what their lease is like for the space. I imagine the city/3CDC knew this was either coming or anticipated it happening, I am surprised Saks lasted as long as it did. I do not think losing the department store in-and-of-itself is that big of a deal as there is a reason so many are closing across the US, but that is a very high profile corner. Unfortunately I can see it sitting as a shell for a long while due to the ballroom issue... hopefully I am wrong.

I hope they do not reward the owners intentional negligence by approving a parking lot.

Pretty excited for this to be a parking lot for the next 20 years.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
In the latest Ohio Capital budget the state awarded $1.2M for a "new park planned between the Ohio River and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center"... I would think that this is the proposed re-do of Freedom Way in front of the NURFC into a pedestrian plaza... which I think would be a big upgrade for the area.

I am not a lawyer... but reading that you are making it sounds like OTR Adopt "wins" and this isnt going anywhere?
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
After this whole dog and pony show where they have to know they are wrong - and just wanting to use delay tactics - I have a hard time taking OTR Adopt seriously moving forward and being anything more than obstructionists.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
It's almost like they don't actually believe in any of their ridiculous arguments to put market-rate projects on hold. It is asinine that one person who opposes nearly everything can slam the door on developments they have zero standing / interest / involvement in.

Cincinnati: Hyde Park: Development and News
Unfortunately - they probably know the pushback / *outrage* they would get if it didn't have that much parking.

Newport, KY: Ovation
Based off of how quickly The Foundry filled up there is definitely demand out there for new space. Getting a lease negotiated / signed and THEN securing financing and then the actual construction puts potential tenants being physically in the space out at least 2 years.. which that is probably a hard sell.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Very Interesting. The most interesting part is what they are planning with the real estate they have purchased recently in OTR under "Southern Ohio Holding Organization". That entity has spent over $4M buying up buildings. Would be pretty cool if they used them for production and taproom space.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Based on the address listed (651 Evans Street) it is the same family that owns Tri-State Building Supply. The same folks who got a big payday with the TQL Stadium land acquisitions.

Instead of renovating this small-ish building it would be nice if W&S flexed their muscle and built something prominent on the site.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Fairly frustrating that this development could be largely complete by now, but instead we are sitting with a crumbling garage for the foreseeable future while parties fumble around and play politics.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
This project seems like it should be a layup. It isn't knocking down a bunch of contributing buildings and it isn't "too tall" (I wish it were taller since it sits on Central Parkway). It is adding life to an area that has received a lot of public $$ (FCC Infrastructure / Music Hall etc). It is exactly what we should be pursuing and it seems like there are strawman arguments to delay it. Between this and the lawsuits to try and stop the Findlay garage and the Liberty/Elm project there is a lot of unnecessary delays going on.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Considering their ultimate goal is just to delay delay delay with the hopes the financing gets pulled I imagine they will object/appeal again. Sadly.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I really hope this is not an empty lot in 5 years but I am not very optimistic about that. The focus is on getting the convention hotel done on the south lot and a lot is up in the air on the DECC expansion.

I believe the "Browning-Otte Building" is 33 W 4th (corner of 4th/Race). I have always thought that is a cool building - I hope it gets put pack to some productive use.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the Bengals to build a practice facility on land that doesnt cost $30M to acquire? I dont really understand why it *needs* to be close to the stadium outside of personal preference? Like how FCC has their training complex out in Milford.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I believe its going to be grass and 'managed' by 3CDC for the time being and try to incorporate it with programming at the existing convention center?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
NHC WEST COURT LLC purchased the building at 122 and 126 W Court Street. The LLC looks to be a holding company for Neyer Properties... There is a weird mish-mash of surface lots in that are and no real cohesiveness. Hopefully that area can get a shot in the arm.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
So the end game is just to appeal and appeal on suspect lawsuits to delay and delay until the developers give up and then the empty lot remains an empty lot. And that is the prize?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I don't quite understand how people cannot grasp that restricting ALL housing types will inflate the prices of all types of housing. And just because a developer makes a profit does not make them 'evil'. They are a for profit business. More people in a neighborhood supports the businesses there and brings jobs to an area. Very shortsighted.
