Cincinnati: Kroger
Looks like Kroger is adding 590 Jobs to the Atrium II Building. I wonder what types of jobs... i would have to think on the tech side? ORDINANCE, (EMERGENCY) submitted by Patrick A. Duhaney, Acting City Manager on 6/25/2018, APPROVING and AUTHORIZING t he execution of a Job Creation Tax Credit Agreement with The Kroger Co., pursuant to which the company agrees to create 590 new jobs at the Atrium II Building, 221 East Fourth Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 in Cincinnati's Central Business District neighborhood and for a period of 5 years, the City agrees to provide an income tax credit equal to 40% of City income tax revenue from such new jobs. http://city-egov.cincinnati-oh.gov/Webtop/ws/council/public/documents/Record?rpp=10&upp=0&m=2&order=native%28%27doc_no%2FDescend%27%29

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yes, I find it very weird that there is virtually no local advertising for downtown attractions. Our tourism organization should be lining 75, 71, 74, and 32 with these. (not to get too far off topic)...but whenever i see Cincinnati tourism commercials its always "Come to a reds game and the aquarium" ...which is great but not capitalizing on anything unique...lots of places have MLB teams and an aquarium.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Yes i believe that is the case - they already ripped up the parking lot in that area as of yesterday.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Yup those 8 games per year should really get a priority over something with much greater use. And that means they can basically veto anything proposed for those blocks then? So then they have no incentive to allow anything to be built there because they want it to remain their "tailgate lot". Absolutely absurd...on land they dont own while playing in a stadium they didnt pay for.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
This move also covered up the route maps, so anyone not familiar with the route or who is from out of town would have no idea where it goes.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Not that hosting NCAA tournament games in and of itself is worth investing in an arena, but it is worth noting that a city doesn't host one game. You host a weekend of games spread out over Thursday-Sunday and many of the attendees come from out of town.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
If the Boys and Girls Club site can be redeveloped along with the Elm/Liberty project that would be a great anchor to north of Liberty and start to connect with Findlay...a few hundred residential units with new commercial space.
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Grandin Properties has sold 1621 Logan, which looks to be the (former?) boys and girls club building along Central to FG OTR...which I believe is the Fortus Group. They are doing the mixed use project on the former Anthem site in East Walnut Hills.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Yes - but i think a 50,000 square foot office building is materially different than a small bar/restaurant.
-
Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Very bad precedent to set. Cannot make every bar/restaurant have dedicated parking, reality does not work like that. It's not like all restaurants in CBD or in other NBDs all have specific spaces...if people want to go to a specific place they will figure it out. And this being mainly a bar many people will be taking rideshare or walking from other places nearby.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
I think the bigger issue is that city council still has to sign off on a few items before things can be cemented and locked down completely and even though there were 5 votes to pass the main resolution, it does not mean that someone like Mann or Sittenfield could waffle and throw a wrench in the entire plan at the 11th hour. Things that could potentially be hold-ups last minute...items like zoning and development agreements etc? All that needs to be done prior to an announcement?

That spend $0 on parking or at the retail establishments.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Not to mention it closes at 5 pm everyday and is closed on Sundays. So basically it isn't ever open. I had no idea that it was only open 11a-5p 5 days/week (30 hours/week). Not sure what is 'normal' for a museum but as a comparison the Cincinnati Art Museum is open 39 hours/week.

Great to see all of the office space is already spoken for. 45,000 square feet is not insignificant. I am hoping it will be Companies from outside the basin.

"West End Ventures" bought 1510 - 1514 Central Avenue for $200,000...showed up on sales file today.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
There is Snap Fitness on 7th street, which is open 24/7. That Snap has been closed for a few months now, unfortunately for me since I used to go there. I believe they merged with Carew Tower Fitness.

Cincinnati: Hyde Park: Development and News
The line "some residents fear it does not fit the character of the neighborhood" is absurd. It is next to two gas stations and a Jiffy Lube. And is replacing an empty restaurant that literally has exterior parts falling off of it. I hope this does not get held up because of the fear of a few people on baseless claims

Don't the developers have to have lease agreements with nearby parking lots?? No way people will be able to manage that on their own!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^This. They have venues exactly like this in Pittsburgh and Columbus and will bring in the best music. Livenation brings in pretty mediocre/bad acts to their venues in Cincy, and CSO/Memi already has Riverbend/PNC so this feels like it would be redundant. I have driven to Columbus multiple times to go to Express Live/The Basement because they bring in better quality acts that we don't currently get in Cincinnati. Yeah with Promowest they could group Cincy/CBUS/Pitt together for tours and not one off shows like CSO would likely do and I think the end result would be much better with Promo. I hope we do not pull a "Cincinnati" and stay local just because and get a mediocre product because of it.

On the minutes for the most recent Downtown Residents Council meeting there is a note about the Provident Bank Building (7th/Vine) being turned into 160 apartments with work starting this summer. http://www.ilivedowntown.com/031318.pdf

Agreed - in no way does lot 23 need to be more green space.
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I think if put in the right location (south of PBS?) this space could be a positive contributor to The Banks, but putting it next to the most recently completed phase would be a big mistake. Just because it may be the easiest to do (at this time) does not make it the best. They need more office users and residents.

Building permits were issued for a Taproom at 1632 Central Parkway (Urban Site's Film Center). It will be interesting if that is a small independent operation or an extension of a local or outside of the region brewery. Incidentally it is right across the street from Sam Adams' Brewery but they do not seem to be interested in opening taprooms at this point.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Agreed. HCB should not be forcing people to scale down and materially alter their business plan or not open at all because they do not have dedicated parking spots. Requiring dedicated spots is not a reasonable (or sustainable) approach. It is not like every restaurant downtown has a parking lot in the back. People figure it out and understand how it works.
