Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
My wife is from Pittsburgh. I went to Pitt. We often talk the similarities between the two, but not the differences. Both towns were steel towns. However, the demographics and past histories are completely different. Pittsburgh saw little to no white flight. Pittsburgh did not have large riots in the 60s. Pittsburgh also lost a lot of their industry over night in the early 80s which helped the region quickly shed its industrial past. I could go on. All this factors make a difference in the development over the last 30 years.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
I grew up in the Heights. I understand Cleveland weather. Yes, in the winter, late fall and, early that happens, but once winter is over, the lake influence wanes significantly when it comes clouds.

^ I’m not sure about that. I went to Pitt. Pittsburgh is just behind Seattle in the number of clouds/gray skies.

Perception is everything. I’ve spent significant time in Cleveland and Columbus. I remember talking to a Clevelander living in Columbus a few years ago how about how gray Cleveland versus Columbus. I actually had the opposite opinion. I thought both cities were pretty gray compared to most cities. The nerd in me looked it up. By one metric (sunshine hours on Wiki) Cleveland has over 100 more sunshine hours a year that Columbus. From March to October Cleveland gets a decent amount more sunshine hours than Columbus. Cleveland has two months in the summer that approach 300 hours per month. By another metric Columbus is 1% less cloudy than Cleveland. Yes, Cleveland has tough winters and deep gray skies for 3 months, but both Cleveland and Columbus are gray cities relative to other cities across the nation. Yet, I very rarely hear someone say Columbus has gray skies.

NFL: General News & Discussion
And Blaine Gabbert, who couldn't beat out Kapernick in SF, has become a journeyman backup qb with several teams since battling Kaepernick in 2016. The interesting thing is Gabbert has continued to play in the league with career stats significantly lower career stats than Kaepernick. Kaepernick has 22 more tds, 17 less interceptions, a higher career completion percentage, and 15 more career wins. I can't figure out why Kapernick hasn't caught on as backup like Gabbert has the last 5 years. It's weird.

NFL: General News & Discussion
Not true. He's a serviceable quarterback. The 2017 (0-16) Browns rolled out Kevin Hogan, Deshone Kizer and Cody Kessler in 2017. Kaepernick was available. Kaepernick was significantly better than all 3. The Texans picked up 35 year old Brandon Weeden in 2018 (Kaepernick was available). God bless him, but Weeden is terrible. I could go on.

Yeah..Kaepernick was canceled for taking knee. Messed up, isn't it. Taking a knee isn't as bad as misogynistic and homophobic comments, right?

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Some schools (FSU) have relationships with Native American Tribes and have asked for their blessing to use Tribal names. That’s not the case here. Like someone said earlier, Ohio doesn’t have a Federally recognized Tribe and the state hasn’t had a sizable Native American population in over 100 years. I’m not sure how we’re are honoring them (argument I’ve seen) by calling our baseball team the “Indians.” Native Americans aren’t receiving a benefit from the organization. The name isn’t as egregious as the Redskins. However, I’m not sure it’s worth the fight or even the right thing to keep it.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
You have a right the be frustrated. The were riots in 70 cities over the last few days. Most of cities saw significant property damage. Even smaller cities like Grand Rapids saw significant damage to downtown business. Cleveland will rebuild. Some businesses won’t come back, some will be replaced by new businesses. Let’s take a deep breath. What happened over the last few days is unprecedented.
