  1. Back to SW. Hopefully, this is just SW doing their due diligence.
  2. ^The parking lots in the Warehouse District gives us a good indication how hard it would be to overcome the loss of SW. Also, I couldn’t care less about filling the VA site in Brecksville. We can’t let SW leave downtown.
  3. ^24k
  4. Very interesting.
  5. Northeast Ohio may finally get its due from JobsOhio At the May 2 annual meeting of Team NEO, JobsOhio's regional business development partner, DeWine told 300 business and civic leaders that he intends to listen to the needs of local communities and pointed to the importance of Northeast Ohio. "You know that 40% of the economy of the state comes from Northeast Ohio," he said. "So how Northeast Ohio goes, so goes Ohio." Husted, McCarthy added, told the mayors that "cities are where a lot of the economic development action is going to be, and we have to work together to make sure that growth is capitalized on." https://www.crainscleveland.com/government/northeast-ohio-may-finally-get-its-due-jobsohio
  6. Pretty sure Mayor Jackson had nothing to do with this rebranding. This happens all the time with stadiums/arenas. I remember Quicken Loans Arena sounding pretty cheesy at first, but it grew on me. People are acting like a guy named "Quicken Loans" was a founding father of Cleveland and we're dishonoring him by renaming the arena Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This isn't a big deal in my opinion. Going for it while Baker is on his rookie deal. 4 more seasons until he gets his 1st big contract.
  8. It's possible Edale and KJP are right. People aren't "flocking" to Cleveland but there's definelty something different going on. I own rental property on the Westside. Just handed keys to a family from California. They've never been to Cleveland. Husband got a job in Twinsburg.
  9. I'm going with Tiger.
  10. Stark has been working on a 54 story building for the last few years. Will be scaled down due to economics. Two 20-25 story (Beacon and One University Circle) buildings have been built on Euclid the last two years and a 34 story building is currently under construction. Aslo, every building from Public Square to Playhouse Square has been or is being converted to apartments. Considering the market dynamics, I think developers have done a good job. I agree about the lack of vision when it comes to the lakefront.

Baker is a stud. High expections next year...

Dorsey has denied it. This was never happening.

It is...Dan needs to hire a basketball guy and let him run the organization. He was on the right track with Chauncey Billups.

We weren't anything this year. We should be tanking. Sixers, Celtics have shown us the blueprint. Tank and acquire picks.
  16. Columbus had 143 murders last year. The most in 25 years. Yes, poverty and drugs are probably the reason. Overal crime has been trending downward the last decade.
  17. I've noticed. I'm ready for Friday.

    Baker Mayfield....
  19. Watched the Air Show yesterday from Nuevo after the Goodtime. Pretty crowded around the Rock Hall. I saw quite a few Oregon State fans wondering around. They must have come up from Columbus.
  20. Indians pick up Josh Donaldson. Love the move if he can get healthy.
  21. I'll pass, thanks. Never have and I really don't think my life is less complete for its absence. Other than messy personal life, these things are new to me. What sources have been saying this? How reliable are they? Those are definitely the kinds of directly job-related failures that could have warranted firing for more pedestrian reasons than DV allegations (or charges or conviction). It's in the report... Twelve revealing findings from the Ohio State investigation into Urban Meyer and Zach Smith "Zach Smith's job performance suffered during his divorce proceedings in 2015. He was regularly late to practice and team meetings. He also failed to appear at recruiting visits at various high schools while claiming that he had been there. Meyer warned Smith that continued problems would lead to his dismissal. Gene Smith recommended to Meyer that he fire Zach Smith that year." https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/twelve-revealing-findings-from-the-ohio-state-investigation-into-urban-meyer-and-zach-smith/ Ohio State investigation | Report details Zach Smith’s bad behavior, Urban Meyer’s response “Zach Smith ran up a significant bill at a local strip club ... approximately $600 of his personal funds at a Miami strip club,” the report stated. Head coach Urban Meyer became aware of the incident, but told investigators he did not know the amount spent at the strip club. Meyer also did not report the incident to the compliance department. http://www.dispatch.com/news/20180823/ohio-state-investigation--report-details-zach-smiths-bad-behavior-urban-meyers-response
  22. They should have fired Smith several years ago for being a crappy employee. Messy personal life, routinely late to practice, running up a $600 bill at a strip club on a recruiting trip, no-showed recruiting visits....I don't understand why he was brought back year after year. Urban didn't need a DV conviction/charge to fire Smith.
  23. I would add South Collinwood to the list. I own rental property in South Collinwood. There's a lot of activity near Collinwood High School and Ted Ginn's school.
  24. ^Yeah...the city was really violent back then. My dad started at the mill in '73. He had crazy stories about seeing robberies, assaults in the open.
  25. I don't think it's meaningless - it's a preview of November in Ohio. This was supposed to be the first appearance of the "blue wave" here, and it's didn't materialize. Democrats will face similar challenges in Ohio's other Republican districts - they might get a bit of a bump and chip away at Trump's margin of victory, but not enough to flip the seats. It was a +12 Republican district. It's been Republican for 35 years. Now it's a toss up. That says something.
