  1. I have to disagree. I good design doesn't mean it has to be expensive. It does mean hiring an architect that has a good aesthetic to detail and design. The same needs to be said about what our Landmark and City Planning Commissions aesthetics standards are. There is just no excuse from the nice design this project began as to what it has ended into. Many are to blame and honestly this project should be put on hold.
  2. I assume the crane will be coming down soon. Also @MayDay you have captured the first images of the bollard installations along Superior Avenue in Public Square!
  3. I am hoping The Landmarks Commission denies this project since it is the same design they presented last time.
  4. The zoning appeal was passed! Not one member asked why nothing has changed since this was presented to Landmark's Commissions last presentation that was panned by all. All setbacks that were discussed were ignored by Geis. The representative says they are planning on tracking ground late summer of this year. This is sad to see that it will move forward. The presentation starts around -32:00 in. It was one of the last items.
  5. It is also interesting that both sites for the stadium have airport issues to deal with.
  6. Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to add special coating to glass facade to prevent bird strikes Gateway Economic Development Corporation, the nonprofit that oversees the Cavaliers arena, approved paying for a coating highly visible to birds. But one board member cautioned that there is little money to spare with other arena repairs looming. Gateway, the nonprofit that spends taxpayer money on the arena and ballpark, ultimately signed off on the $845,975 expense https://signalcleveland.org/rocket-mortgage-fieldhouse-to-add-special-coating-to-glass-facade-to-prevent-bird-strikes/ I don't understand how this wasn't thought of prior to the original glass installation.
  7. This move to Brook Park would have a much larger effect than around 8 Browns' games per year. The goal is to make this a facility that is an entertainment/sports district year round. Think of how many lost opportunities the downtown hotels and restaurants would lose.
  8. It would be great to see any renderings for the proposed design at the lakefront location. The comparison would be helpful
  9. Geis and Panzica haven't made any adjustments to their plans after The Landmark's Commission and Ohio City Planning unanimously disapproved of the design! I hope the city rejects their permits to tear down any historic property to build this crap. Value engineered design doesn't mean build ugly.
  10. The Plain Dealer's reporting and editorial articles all appear to support The Haslam's moving the stadium to Brook Park. With the track record that Cleveland has developing the lakefront I feel the loss of the stadium will cost the city millions just to tear it down and we will see the site sit empty for a long time.
  11. https://abc7chicago.com/videoClip/14727930/ Here is a link to the planned dome stadium for The Chicago Bears designed by Manica
  12. Since Dan Gilbert's Bedrock was able to court GM to move their headquarters away from The Renaissance Center to his Hudson Tower build in Detroit, I wonder if they are talking to Cleveland Cliffs about any development build in Cleveland
  13. I hope Playhouse Square will maintain all the Greyhound signage on the exterior and are allowed to keep that as it's keepsake venue name
  14. @MayDay You perfectly matched the angle with the architect's rendering! I also love how the building has a color palette with a little flair.
  15. SHW's underestimating it workforce growth and space needs. The good news is that Cleveland will see more buildings
  16. It's a shame so much money has been poured into developing this lakefront plan that all began because The Haslam's originally invested a million dollars to design a plan to surround the stadium. I say we hold off spending anymore city money until the stadium location is resolved.
  17. Btw here is what the plaza at the convention center would look like if approved. Th proposed lamp posts are very prominent and wish they were more in line of the time period Superman was created. Photo credit PMC-Moody Nolan
  18. That proposed entrance is truly unacceptable as a design choice. There is no relationship to the original tower and I don't see how the reporter describes it as a sleek addition. The biggest takeaway from the article is that the university continues to shrink in enrollment and may not even need more on campus housing. They are waiting on an Ernst and Young Study to see if this is the best use for Rhodes.
  19. Can they do a test run of a Christmas Village or Farmer's Market at The US Bank Plaza this season before the need to close Huron?
  20. I wish the city could have buried all the utility lines to beautify the streets.
  21. This "Cleveland" font has bothered me that the "V" can also be perceived as a "U". I have a couple of other observations that maybe someone has the answer. First is I wonder why the new shade awning structures are angled differently from the 2 areas. The Terrace Garden's are at a higher pitch as they sit at least four feet back from the upright front post. The Pennant District's angle is directly at the front post. Second question, Are there mentions of what all the jersey numbers reference throughout the district? Lastly, It feels that The Pennant District should add some tv screens like The Terrace Garden so the fans can see the action when seated near the bar areas
  22. I like that the Superman sculptures are happening. I just wish the site was somewhere more impressive.
  23. I would love the implementation of a Christmas Market set up in Public Square or along the promenade paths of the Malls rather than converting Huron Road. Both also could have weekly Farmer's Market activations.
