  1. Like 1970s/80s Phillies uniform or more like the infamous mid 70s Indians uniform.

Not from Ohio (and 14 years old), but just as good.

Technically, I'm not enrolled @ LSU this semester (though I still need to finish writing and then defending my thesis).

I'll have to start posting this photo when I get bored with some of these threads. :yap:
  5. {Sigh} Urbanohio....a thousand members, a thousand different cars, trains, subways, trolleys, buses, scooters, bikes, skateboards, skates, and shoes taking us home (parody of a description of the mid 60s BoSoxs who were once described as 25 players taking 25 different taxis. Meaning that they did NOT work together.)
  6. Well there is the 'Career Connection' Thread that Columbus Girl started over on Urbanbar. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=10741.0 The only problem with it, so far, is that none of the Ohio posters are interested in helping the ex-pats get back. :| So much for the revolution.

^We had an infamous case of that in Columbus about 20 years ago. Part of a building facade fell down and trapping several people (I don't think anyone was killed, but I could be wrong). Among those affected was (then) City Council member Ben Espy (later state rep and ran again Lushuka for Mayor after Reinhart called it quits). I don't remember which building it was, but I believe it was along Broad Street.
  8. That was referenced in the Cincinnati Kid's post (concerning Furman) above.
  9. New Orleans Lady's Mother-in-law Louisiana governor, Kathleen Blanco BTW Lee, Blanco's home base is Acadiana. If she's not liked there, she won't be liked anywhere in Louisiana.
  10. Urban Legend 267 is that Gary Burbank does his show from his home/studio in Florida. :-) (though last l checked, Gary does have a home in NKY, but owns a restaurant in Cincy) Back to reality, Cunningham has been on WLW for well over 20 years. Cunningham did a bogus stunt back in '84 or '85 where he claimed he could defeat a Xavier female basketball player in horse. Billy lost. The Day shift Billy took only came about in the last 10 years (with the creation of "corporate radio" and 3 hour shifts). For most of the 80s it was McConnell (or Pat Barry before him) from 10-2 then Burbank from 2-6 (then the sportstalk show with Trumpy/MacWilliams/Collingsworth/Tracy Jones/Furman/Dennison/etc...)
  11. Your Mother-in-Law is Gov. Kathleen Blanco?! :-D

The Ohio Turnpike (along with most of the midwest/east coast tollroads) predate the Interstate system (in the case of the Ohio Turnpike by just a couple of years). According to the records of the Ohio Turnpike Commission (which can be found at the state library and OSU [somewhere, due to Thompson's renovation]), the commission looked at 5 different allignments between 1948 (commision's chartering) and 1952 (construction started)... The current Ohio Turnpike Following US 30 Following US 40 (now I-70) Following US 25 (now I-75) Following present day I-71 Only two routes got serious consideration, the current turnpike route and the "I-71" route. As construction was wraping up on "project 1" in 1954, The OTC had started planning for a Cincy, Dayton, (suburban) Columbus, (suburban) Cleveland, Conneaut route http://www.roadfan.com/1954map.jpg As for Eisenhower starting federal subsidizing the American Dream, he (actually congress) was just expanding a system that been in planning since the Great Depression, http://www.roadfan.com/intreg.html. And least you forget, federal subsidizing for highway projects go as far back as our country's founding. US 40 has been federally subsidized since 1803! The feds just couldn't give land away for roads like they could for railroads back in the 19th Century. :-P
  13. Yeah. When I divided up the state for my website, I put Springfield in SW with Cincy & Dayton, while I put Logan County in Central Ohio.

Oh, that's right (I've only done that route going west from Philly, so I only hit one toll booth)
  15. Because you care about the greater good? Republicans caring about the greater good?!?! That would be a first!

There are reasons for everything. Except for this thread.

I 100% agree! Nor will you find it near the local Home Depot. Lesbians seem to love Home Depot. Yeah, but I've worked with several lesbians during my 9 years at Lowes (Marion/Hilliard)

What's the GMAT? That's not the practice test for grad school is it? :wtf:

Well... There's US 30 or if you prefer, I-70/US 50 (depending how far south you are), I-68, I-70, I-95 if you want to go to Philly from Ohio and avoid the PA Turnpike.

Since ColDay refuse to help entice people back to Ohio, I'll send something up that way.... Any info/comments on this firm would be appreciated.
  21. Columbus has something similar, except one would go to the public library's main branch. I never really tried to see if OSU would have anything, I guess, with the onset of Thompson Library's rehab, one would go to the Journalism library now.

I see that it's snowing in Michigan today. Not snowing in Ohio yet (even east of Cleveland), is it? BTW, I have no favorite cities in Michigan. Give it to Canada.
  23. Saw a picture on the Dispatch website the other day showing the bridge being torn down.
  24. About time someone was able to hammer out a fallacy from "god" around here.
  25. Well, considering you can only go back to 1986 with the online archives for the Columbus Dispatch and Cleveland Plain Dealer, I wouldn't complain too loud.
