  1. Just remind them that New Orleans has taken that title from Cleveland. :) I don't think we want to be competing with NO! Too bad. The Saints come to Cleveland either week one or week two. So Cleveland will have to compete with New Orleans, shortly. (But I'll root for the Browns.) Just remind them that New Orleans has taken that title from Cleveland. :) I don't think we want to be competing with NO! Since this thread has left the boundaries of the Buckeye State, I guess I get to live up to my avatar. Is New Orleans still under water? No. It is all dried out. Does anyone live in New Orleans still? Yes. At minimum, Ray Nagin. Actually, it is believed to be 100,000 (minimum) back in New Orleans. However, it is hard to calculate this with people still claiming a NOLA address but living elsewhere, or rebuilding (which means they visit on a regular basis), or just not being counted. Is New Orleans back to normal? Ha! Define normal. OK, is New Orleans done rebuilding then? NO! This is a torturous proceeding that no one knows how it will proceed. Of course it might help if there was a coordinated effort between the various levels of government to get all the debris (and abandoned cars) taken to landfills. But much of the 20th century built city (versus the French Quarter and CBD which was built on the original river terrace) is still in ruin. Is there any reason to visit New Orleans anytime soon? Better musicians than anywhere else in the nation. Better food than most anywhere else in the nation. Better architecture than plenty of other places in the nation. We need day laborers, restaurant wait staff, and medical staff (though this last subject is bit tricky with people leaving because there is no money to pay doctors in NOLA right now) Why should I care? You want us to care about you if someone or something tries to wipe you off the map? If not, we have long memories too.
  2. LMAO!!! I may be sent to NoLa in a week or two. I'll report back the real deal I would love some Ohio company down here.

  4. Waterfronts need to be shared with everyone, not just those who claim a slice of said location.
  5. Nothing to do with football. Bennie would run track for LSU during the spring. His specialty was the 400 m hurdles.

Interested in going to grad school then?
  7. Oregon officials studying draft of city's master plan Toledo Blade, 7/27/06 After three years of studies, analyses, and surveys, a draft of the updated Oregon Comprehensive Master Plan has been released and is under review by city administrators and the plan's steering committee. A formal review session will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Oregon Municipal Building, 5330 Seaman Rd., said Matt Szollosi, chairman of Oregon City Council's economic development and planning committee. "The draft of the plan, as anticipated, is very detailed," Mr. Szollosi said. I believe this plan, if adhered to, will allow the city to maximize its economic potential while preserving its agricultural heritage." The master plan update is designed to provide city officials with a tool to help guide decisions about community growth and development.

  9. Hey Ray Nagin. You coming back to New Orleans, or are you just going to play mayor by proxy? :-D

Also didn't help that (then mayor) Carl Stokes decided to harp on the last fire along the Cuyahoga as well.

That's not in Louisiana?!? (Where Rite Aid ads show their liquor selection)
  12. More like Newark-heavy compared to Licking Co.
  13. Dublin Ave is (now it's a western extension of Nationwide Blvd from Neil Ave to the river) the next street north from Spring St (US 33). So any buildings along the southside of Dublin Ave would be visable from US 33. (My bittersweet memoir for Dublin Ave. -http://www.roadfan.com/dubavebr.html) Speaking of oil wells in Ohio... Maybe if Ken would ask Chris very nicely, ColDay will go and check the following out from Orton Library (since Thompson is going to be in shambles for the next 5-10 years) http://library.ohio-state.edu/search/d%22Morrow+County%22/dmorrow+county/1%2C16%2C19%2CB/frameset&FF=dmorrow+county+geology+ohio+history&1%2C1%2C

After 45 seconds of thought... [H]arang, Arro[yo], and hope we have mo'.
  15. I guess you never heard Robert Johnson sing about squeezing lemons.
  16. If they expand to the south, they are just bumping into industry (and railroads) If they expand to the north, there are still a smattering of houses along the southside of I-270 from Johnstown Rd to Hamilton (including the now almost wiped out subdivision of Wonderland).
  17. Bump. :-)
  18. Hey Rob. Was that 1962 Waterworks along Dublin Ave? (obviously near the Olentangy or Scioto)
  19. For the most part, yes. People buy sports franchises because they want to own a sports franchise, not because they are hoping to make money. Must explain why people buy sport franchises at 100 million dollars and sell them at 200 million dollars
  20. This might warrent a different thread, but what were your impression upon your return to New Orleans?

And if you find the applicants drawing bricks, via a computer, put them in graphic design.

And if they write about the bricks, put them in journalism. :-P
  24. Columbus gave up on it's (Now described as business lined [?!?!]) boulvard proposal. ODOT has committed to two caps (near east & German Village) though the city wants 10 in total. http://www.dispatch.com/news-story.php?story=dispatch/2006/07/20/20060720-B1-04.html
