The Official All-Ohio, Urban Ohio Meet: Columbus - Saturday, June 10th
Who said there's going to be one next year? It's been almost 3 years since the last Columbus meet.

Who is the Best Guitarist of All Time?
Track down some Ray Fuller (long time Blues/Rock musician from Columbus) Or if you want something a little different, CC Adcock from down here in Louisiana

Gas Prices
As CBS put it, the sabre rattling in Iran and instability in Iraq have contributed $5-10 dollars to a barrel of oil (They called it a terror premium). If Nigeria, Iraq, and Iran all calmed down, and if Venevaula eased off their desire to nationalize their oil industry, oil would drop back down to the low $50s (mind you that's alot of ifs and the likelyhood of all happening at once is on par with all 3 Cleveland pro teams winning their respective league's titles over the course of one year) BTW, a bunch EU countries raised their interest rates today. The thought being this would slow down inflation and economic development and thusly slow the demand for oil (projects cost money, more cost mean fewer projects, thus less need of oil related products). We'll see.

The Official All-Ohio, Urban Ohio Meet: Columbus - Saturday, June 10th
But last time, we only used the bus to go from Campus back to the Arena District. (Yes we meandered from the statehouse up to OSU, by foot, at the 2003 C-bus meet)

Who is the Best Guitarist of All Time?
An Ohio only band...that would be a little more challenging. Adopted sons Jorma, Joe Walsh (born in Kansas), Robert Lockwood Jr (followed Sunny Boy Williamson to Cleveland from Chicago in the early 60s, Sunny Boy continued moving on, but Robert has, more or less, stayed put for 40+ years now)

The 2004 Census Figures (Cleveland, cover your eyes)
BTW, you guys aren't the only ones who think the 2004 Census Figures are all screwed up. All the politicians here in Louisiana are up in arms over the "Post Katrina/Rita" number released last night (covenently after the 11 PM EDT news). Baton Rouge believes the census under estimated their population increase. New Orleans believes more have returned home than the Census folks give credit to, and Texas somehow ended up with 100K ex-Louisianans. The politicization of numbers. Lovely. :shoot:

Could rural Ohio become extinct?
I knew a guy, who worked for OSU (ag extension) who lived north of Delaware and drove out to Lima/Findley where OSU was growing grain crops (of some sort). How often he did that roadie, I don't recall if I ever knew, but I do remember him mentioning how he had to bounce about North Central Ohio (this was about 10 years ago)

Who is the Best Guitarist of All Time?
Guitarists: Jimi Hendrix. End of story, do not continue debate on #1. Bassists: George Porter Jr. I'd pay $100 to watch a "funk" off between Porter, Larry Graham, and ColDay's uncle Bootsy Collins Drummer: Gene Crupa or John Bonham

"An Idle Progression to a More Liberal Dayton"
I'd surmise that "Apathy Vs Vocal" is more of an issue than we care to admit in almost every community in this nation.

Could rural Ohio become extinct?
Including or excluding OSU "Ag-extension" folks (Columbus/Wooster)?

Ohio-Kentucky Border
As a side tangent to this topic. Ohio decomissioned US 25 (present day I-75) back in the mid 70s. But there has been a debate in the "roadgeek" community as to whether US 25 still enters Ohio or not due to Kentucky ending US 25 at the state line. Which may, or may not be on the "Ohio side" of the River (as you've seen with this thread about the border). Through the documents ODOT has put online, I do believe the debate has been settled as to US 25's existance in Ohio (it doesn't). But roadgeeks still get a kick out of seeing US 25 shields in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati: Urban Planning News & Discussion
I read just recently that Urban Planning positions are one of the top 50 jobs out there. Should you become a city manager/planner (the planning director) you'll start around 70,000 a year. With an undergrad degree and a be an accredited planner...I would expect around the 35-40,000 range as an entry level. This is a great field to get into because of America's development...the nation is starting to fill out and people are beginning to weigh quality of life issues much more heavily. This is what planning is all about...creating a high quality of life for all members of society in all aspects of life. With a graduate degree I would imagine that you will have a great job awaiting you when your are all finished with schooling. Planning jobs have been growing nationwide for the past several years...and its still growing further. Here is a link to Money Magazines Top 50 Jobs (urban planner #36) http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bestjobs/top50/index.html But it depends on the education and the location you're looking at. Suburban New Orleans (St. Tammeny Parish, on the northshore of Lake Pontatrain) had a planner opening, but they were offering 28K a year (essenitally they wanted an architect/building code enforcer). Delaware, here in Ohio, has a opening they are advertising right now (wants a masters and prefereably a year experience) for 40 K.

The Tubes supposedly are schedule to play, somewhere, at Mentor-on-the-Beach a week from tonight. Maybe they'll play "She's a Beauty" as an encore.
