  1. Might be awhile till I can track some down. Classes ended @ LSU back on Saturday. But we have 2 ex-ohioans as professors here who I can mention your work to.
  2. I wonder if Bernie Kosar's return to Ohio (after graduating from Miami in 3 years) had as much impact on Cleveland (back in the mid 80s) as LeBron does now?

I'm not sure which building the photo was taken from, but you are look north-northwest (towards OSU/Upper Arlington), thus "the lack of quality density." If there was any photoshoping done, it was adding in glow from the lights, but I'm pretty sure there was no cutting & pasting of buildings.

Good Bye Cincy... Helllllllllllllllloooo Phillies!
  5. I'll go announce this on the road sites I frequent. I can think of two people I know (both of whom have been featured here by me at time or another), who would be jealous of your idea. BTW, when are you going to post links to Monte and my sites?

Isn't ColDay susposed to be part of the celebrators?

I've gotten so lousy with my lefts and rights (my innate sense is still sharp, I just can't put it into a spoken word form for anyone) I can't be trusted to give correct directions to campus or downtown anymore.

I should of posted this before the Phils game last night, but... How many times did Marty reference "Alex Madrid Syndrome" while Hamels was on the mound?

<Was that an old copy you had laying around? Alot of noise on that photo.

Now Larry Hughes had to leave the team. Evidently his brother was shot dead last night.
  11. Closing line from Baton Rouge Advocate on New Orleans, essentially, being on the most endangered list. -- The National Trust, via its most endangered list, has identified 179 threatened historic places since 1988. A listing does not ensure the protection of a site or guarantee funding, the group said, but such designations have been a powerful tool for raising awareness and rallying resources to save endangered places.
  12. A Delaware County Port Authority just doesn't sound right. :wtf:
  13. I'll just throw a bunch of outside influences in at once. Dixie Hwy - History by Mike Buettner (President of the Ohio Lincoln Hwy Association) http://www.lincolnhighwayoh.com/Dixie.html There was a Defense Highway Act in 1941 There was a Federal-aid Highway Act in 1944 (forerunner to the 1956 interstate act) There was a Federal-aid Highway Act in 1954 The 1941 act may well have led to the funding for the highway(s) around Wright-Patt and possibly US 25. The 1944 act led to the interregional plans (seehttp://www.roadfan.com/intreg.html) and Ohio highlighted their needs in 1946 (from Invertory of Needed Improvements on the State Highway System, located at the state library) Howard, Needles, Tammen & Bergendorff were quite popular. They did highway plans for Columbus, Cleveland, and Toledo, besides Dayton in the 1950s (collection of all is sitting at the Science & Engineering Library at OSU) And Harlan Bartholomew made a visit to Columbus in 1954 as well (to reiterate what Bergendorff had proposed two years earlier)

Yeah, but what happens if your car is "trapped" by faulty machinery?

Looks like how my parents wanted me to keep my Hot Wheels/Matchbox collection. Instead of being intermixed with other toys in the toy box(es).
  16. Preferably singing
  17. Getting on the list is basicily a free press writeup and nothing more. National Trust can come in (if invited!) and make suggestions, but thats about it.
  18. I wonder how many of these people ask the kids what they want before moving to the sticks. Of course not. To quote BB King, "Untill you pay the bills around here, I'm paying the cost to be the boss." Outside of your personal sphere, how much say did you have in your parents day-to-day activity?
  19. Maybe originally, but it looks like 400,000 people got the same idea at the same time.
  20. I guess Ben Franklin was right. Early to bed Early to rise Makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.
  21. To those of you who are going to OSU (and I have no clue as to the class scheduling schedule), try to get into one of the GIS courses (primarily a function of the Geography dept). That way you can "virtually" play streetcar route designer at some point during the fall quarter. If the "schedule computer" won't let you take any of the classes, go see Mae Po Kwan or Alan Murray.
  22. Stop! Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't US 33 (Oh 161) widened to four lanes....30 years ago!! I-270 has been 6 lanes (south of 33) for 15 years and 8 lanes (north of 33) for 4 years. What the hell kind of pronouncements is this?!? We continue... (This should make the anti-highway folks here happy) With the economics the way they are right now, this project should get finished just before the I-73 project. IOW, the day after never.
  23. What does Cleveland snow have to do with employment in Marysville?!?
  24. Anyway Vets can be shipped down to Baton Rouge? We could use another mid-sized arena. (Our local 2,000 seat nightclub was told to close up show by it's owners on Friday :x)
  25. And I thought San Jose had a lame skyline. Phoenix doesn't do much for me architechually either (having never been there, this is based off MayDay's photos)
