Columbus: Local Media News & Discussion
Saw something to that effect on Blundo's FB feed last night. Tim Ferran originally started out covering the media beat (specifically radio) back in the early 90s. But as someone wrote on Blundo's facebook wall, "Now the Dispatch is cutting the bone."

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Could be worse. If this was UrbanPennsylvania, we would have a hell of a time deciphering the population trends along the Philly Main Line, because there are only two boroughs (Narberth & Malvern) the rest of the area is unincorporated.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
They didn't list Kilbourne*, nor East Claridon* again?!? Bastards! (* - Just joking. Neither Kilbourne, nor East Claridon are incorporated, so they won't be listed.) But hey, my Zip Code center (Marengo) is now 755 out of 931 incorporated communities in Ohio. While my phone exchange (Ashley) is at 446.

Urban Planning and Related Careers in Ohio
Well, they're posting jobs as recently as two weeks ago. Wonder if I would have a shot at working in DelCo's planning dept. 11 years after my grad degree & 17 after my bachelors. <sigh> ?

Columbus: Local Media News & Discussion
Not sure if any of the Central Ohio posters have noticed, but WCBE 90.5 is in big trouble. Their program director has been suspended, with pay, and told to keep out of Ft. Hayes. The Columbus City School Board (who owns the radio licence to 'CBE) was notified last week that the station owes National Public Radio over $800,000 in back fees. Considering that 'CBE's fundraising came up $275,000 short (IOW their revenue didn't match their costs) and that Columbus City Schools don't really fund the station anymore (and haven't in 20 years). Things could be bleak for the station. Columbus Business Journal article on the situation: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2019/02/01/wcbe-struggling-with-large-debt-to-npr-stations-gm.html?fbclid=IwAR1QvlnFKepqLTMCgFcsJzRiyjtUR9V0uiNGMoVBy9nYAEJTdvZlvpdrs4c Columbus Dispatch chiming in after the fact: https://www.dispatch.com/news/20190204/nonprofit-offers-to-pay-off-wcbe-debt-take-over-npr-stations-operations

2018 Gubernatorial Election
FWIW, I have seen more campaign signs for Cordray, O'Connor, and other Democrat office holders than I have for most Republicans (exceptions being Troy Balderson & Andrew Brenner) in my corners of Delaware & Morrow Cos. this week.

I'll date this as 1990. No Tuttle Mall, Continent was still relevant, and City Center & I-670 (east) had just opened.

Ohio Music
If you know Massillon, Ohio then you know about "Tiger Pride." Patrick Sweany came up with that song, and Patrick hails from Massillon (though nothing about his Ohio past is listed on Patrick's website anymore ???)

Columbus: Population Trends
(This map dates back to the mid '80s (I think 1985) and while generally accurate to this day, it does not account for any precise property changes over the last 30 years) I just share this map of Delaware County (the color overlays were for me to geographically divide my photos when I was heavily involved with roadfan.com) for those who want to make population divisions by school district. Color demarcation light blue - Olentangy violet - Westerville City Taupe - Big Walnut Yellow - Buckeye Valley Sort of brown - Delaware Green - Dublin P.S. This doesn't account for all the township school consolidation over the last century

Metro Columbus: Road & Highway News
Could of swore ODOT had a webpage concerning US 33 between Bexley and Lancaster. Can't find now. Anyways, I know ODOT wants to make some sort of fancy interchange at 33 and Petzinger, and all the crossroads along 33, between Hamilton and Lancaster will be removed. It just might take another 30 years to get it done.
