Columbus: General Transit Thread
38 member task force?! Isn't that large enough for a seperate city agency/dept.

Events that Draw a Street Crowd in Your City
Delaware Arts Festival County Fair (actually day of the "Little Brown Jug" harness race) OWU graduation (though they don't close the city down like for the events above)

Columbus Blue Jackets Discussion
And you are correct sir.

Coldayman is MISSING!!!
Is it spring break for OSU this week? A friend of mine (whose wife works at OSU) responded to an e-mail of mine yesterday that he was on vacation this week.

About time the NHL did something for Columbus.

Bored in Cincinnati?
^Is there much of a neighborhood or campus for the school formerly known as OSU-Miami@Dayton (Wright State's name prior to the mid 60s)

False MSA and CSA impressions.
Do me a favor (because I have no dying desire to register at SSP to add one post) Start a poll over there with the question, have you ever taken a Urban Geography course in college? I'd be blown out of my socks if 50.1% or more said yes.

False MSA and CSA impressions.
Is this opinion or fact you're stating here? You sound more like someone who hates the system because they don't understand it. Acadmics & pollsters are always looking for linkages. That is what MSAs & CSAs represent, their numbers are the answer to the question 'what quanatative connection do people have with a city.' To simply ignore ignore those who live "outside the city" accomplishes nothing. This ain't Wizard of Oz, they aren't going to disapear if you refuse to count them.

You can add 4 more counties to Cincinnati's MSA 109k
And yours is wrong in this case

Random Columbus
Not to change the subject, but before I left for more waterlogged pastures, I had become fascinated in Columbus bridges as well. http://www.roadfan.com/colbrid.html (index of pages concerning the "interesting" designs in Columbus)

The official "V for Vendetta" thread ...
Like anything else (concerning movies), the original graphic novels (written in Maggy Thatcher era England) were better.

OMG ... Suburbanites are more F*#cked up than we think they are ...
The thread was someone visited Cleveland before, loved all the bridges. They asked for recemindations for hotels with views of the bridges (that might be a tall order). Someone chimed in with the Terminal Tower observation tower for viewing the bridges comment that MayDay quoted above. Having never been in any of Cleveland's skyscrappers, I don't think there is any one building where you can see all of the Cuyahoga River bridges (from I-490 north). So the bridge fans will have to do some legwork, or taxi sweet-talking.

Has anyone else ever done this with Google Earth?
KJP did a variation of that in one of the Rivage threads when we were all thought creating a virtual city was the thing to do.

Random Columbus
The "old" post office looks like a church. I think the "old, old" moniker someone put on that photo is correct. Before heading out to Spring-Sandusky, I thought the previous post office was along Front or Marconi.

NCAA Men's Basketball: General News & Discussion
^Yeah, I was being a little harsher than I should have. But they still should had reached the Sweet 16 (based on their season's performance). :|

City-related paraphernalia
I'm sure New Orleans Lady will back me on this.... If you can think of it, there is a version with French Quarter/New Orleans labeled on it.

Cincinnati Enquirer
Little papers like the Medina County Gazette and the Delaware Gazette can't afford to have reporters at the statehouse. They get their state news from the AP wire. Other than the Enquier, Plain Dealer, and Dispatch, I wouldn't be surprised if the other papers in Ohio get the majority of their statehouse coverage from wire reports.

General Roads & Highway Discussion (History, etc)
Even in Baton Rouge, once you go past the south gate of LSU, the sidewalk(s) ends.

Populations
Actually, after listening to a fellow geographer (from Massachutsus) speak down here at LSU today. It's not recruiting outsiders that local (or state) officials should be doing, but helping/keeping businesses that have started up here, up and running (and not going elsewhere). Be it as simple as zoning (for home businesses) to the "dreaded tax code." That could take up the "something" that several of you have bemoaned local politicians not doing in this thread.

Columbus: General Transit Thread
Were the "Bus people" homeless and panhandlers, or low end hourlies? Besides being short-sighted and oblivious to their clientle, social equality way never be achived.

We thank Xavier for participating in this year's tourney. Next time, try harder. (BTW, what did happen [Was watching LSU down here]? I saw Xavier up by 10 and next thing I know the 'Zags are winning) Go Buckeyes tomorrow.
