^^ When will the new round of riots start. :-D
  2. It's a college newspaper, those reporters are still "learning." If anything, despise the professors or whomever is providing the "oversight" for the newspaper. Otherwise, the kid could of gone to Knowlton or Derby Hall and got better opinions on campus about light rail in Columbus.
  3. Except that I can rattle off freeway projects that were proposed 30, 50 years ago in Columbus (and other cities across the nation) that got completed because once they are "on the book" anyone who believes those plans can be used to their advantage will bring them out of mothball.
  4. Memo to Fratboy Dawg. Please post on here the next time the Toledo zoo is mentioned, in a positive light, in the national media. You'll still be down 1,000 to 5 with the exposure Jack Hanna got the Columbus Zoo with his yearly visits to David Letterman and all 3 network morning shows. I'll take first gorilla born in captivity over first Manitee exhibit in Ohio every day of the week and leap day as well.

That's why he's on the $10 and not Washington. Think of all the stories concerning Ben Franklin. ;-)
  6. i'll agree to that, but only if we can give mariemont a bypass. maybe if we run a sixteen lane highway through the middle of indian hill, we can make it work Anything to make Columbus more urban. :-D

Does anyone know if Aaron Burr told her to take out Alex? :-D
  8. Change US 35 to US 50 and I'll be in.
  9. The outer-outerbelt idea That was part of the I-73 plan from mid-90s Yeah, we're nowhere near that.
  10. But Morrow County is still going with the punch card method, right?
  11. Somewhere in Dayton
  12. Your photos suck! Go back to undercover work at frat parties. :jo::-D Seriously, your work is no worse than any of ours here. I mean you know how to size up a building and you know how to make the shutter open and close. Visualizing is half the battle in taking photographs (mechanically producing our visualizations can a different matter sometimes) and you have that down. So, take more photos.
  13. I don't know what the weather is up there, but we reached 80 degrees here in Louisiana Wed-Fri. :-D I also see it's supposed to be in the 50s this week in Chicago for AAG.

^ You don't recall the punk rockers going around with safety pins in all their clothing (and piercings as well)?
  15. I probally told this story before, but since this thread has drifted from political divisions to regional accents, I'll tell it again. First day of class in the fall of '99 I had with this Geographer professor @ OSU (and who had been there since 1965), I come up to say hi, babling about something. He goes, in his his English accent, "you have a New York accent." I stand, looking stun. (at that point) I had never visited NYC, much less lived there. Having lived in Geauga & Morrow Counties for all my life, I couldn't understand how I could be classified as being a New Yorker. Looking back, the best explaination I could come up with is that I inherited a Philadelphia accent from my mother. :?
  16. Those were the only 4 I could think of without looking at Steve Anderson's site. But, you answered my question, and I'm back to shruging my shoulders/speechless concerning ODOT. I have no reply.
  17. (I don't know how long the Dispatch has made their website "free" (previously you had to pay $5 a month to read the Dispatch online), but as long as the current situation exists, I'll be reading it from afar.) Meanwhile, back to Public Transportation ideas in Columbus... Notion of Downtown loop dates from Rhodes years Thursday, March 02, 2006 JOE BLUNDO In 1950, Mayor James A. Rhodes proposed building a subway Downtown. In the 1980s, Mayor Dana G. Rinehart got behind a plan for a monorail Downtown. And in 2006, Mayor Michael B. Coleman raises the idea of a streetcar Downtown. Whether Coleman’s idea has merit is for others to decide. But I’ll tell you this: It has consistency. For more than 50 years, mayors have been trying to take us for a ride. With help from Sam Roshon at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, I reviewed a half-century of transportation dreams for Downtown. Here’s a sampling of what I found: • In 1950, Rhodes, the future governor, suggested a subway system leading in all four directions from Broad and High streets. He said the tunnels could double as bomb shelters. ‘‘Many people will think the idea fantastic," Rhodes said. ‘‘But after all, this is a metropolitan city. . . . We must look to the future." 18. from what i'm aware, times square isn't visible from a 'highway' not times square, but driving elsewhere down the westside highway, lie, bqe etc. you are assaulted like crazy by flashing video billboards, regular billboards & hanging vinyl ads off buildings all along the way. But is it visable from I-478, 278, 95 or US 9? If not, then they are not in violation. The Columbus problemchild is in view of US 33 (and US 23?), thus why ODOT is being angry.

What's with Akron-Canton and Delaware Co. sharing names (Rolling Acres, BV)?
  21. BG has a well known Popular Culture library and academic department http://www.bgsu.edu/departments/popc/ so I'm not surprised they have a collection of underground magazines.
  22. I'm pretty sure my Minolta x-370 is older than Inkaelin, thus I don't have image stabilization technology...outside of using a uni or tripod. :-)
  23. Secure funding and challenge C-Dawg to help you make a documentary film then.
  24. Not yet. (Looking west from Rising Park in Lancaster) That smokestack (leftover from an abandoned sugarmill) is about 6 miles west, as the crow flies, from the Louisiana capital. But with no appature, I have to be super steady and low lighting makes it almost worthless. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. :|
  25. ^track down some financing and do a thesis or disertation on it. :speech:
