  1. Pros: (In theory) Better canidates, in touch with the constituents Cons: Could leave offices empty for extended periods (how quick a turn-around should a new election be?) As of right now, I would be in favor of a "None of the above" option. If nothing else, get this idea out in the public for debate. There has to be more pros & cons to this idea than what I thought of.
  2. Campus is fairly empty of blighted properties according to that map as well.
  3. That's not local jurisdiction. :-)
  4. I could give you my parents e-mail then. My mom has been doing the 45-1 hr drive from Marengo to (first) Dublin then Easton for over 15 years now. My dad, back in the 80s, drove from Marengo to the Brewery District because that was where Franklin Co. Children Services was based from back then. Hell, I even drove from Marengo to OSU when I was student.
  5. On the softer, non-political side; histories of Olentangy River Rd (Oh 315), Old State Rd, the old Columbus-Delaware-Marion interurban, and the bridges of the Olentangy River would be neat to read as well. Otherwise, I'm a Buckeye Valley alum. Your beat doesn't go far enough north for me to be too concerned. 8-)
  6. Fair Enough.

Frapper has my address as the receiving area of the local WalMart. :-o
  8. Have you taken a Political Science class? If Ohio voted the opposite of their values, wouldn't Cleveland be ran by political conservatives?
  9. Ahhh  Talk about pulling a rabbit out of your hat. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Don't put me in the conservative group because I balance my checkbook and have zero debit outside of my house. The damn Conservatives aren't even fiscally conservative. The current administration keeps writing checks our grandkids won't be able to pay off. Not necessarily balancing a checkbook, more like what you are willing spend on. A spendthrift is essentially a fiscal conservative.
  10. Great, they didn't count the neighborhood my advisor lives in (Yes, my advisor @ LSU has a residence in the other LA)
  11. The 5 most densely populated (urbanized) are... Los Angeles San Fran/Oakland San Jose (who didn't grouped in with SF-O) New York City Miami Something doesn't look right. And according to that list, Columbus has a greater pop density than Cincy or Cleveland as well.
  12. It's not a clean North-South issue. To some Clevelanders, Southern Ohio starts at US 30 (find US 30 on an Ohio road map and you'll see the joke). Basiclly there are at least 5 regions to Ohio (NE, SE, SW, NW, and Central) and each one is different from the other. And to some extent there is resentment about the other parts of the state from each region. It's similar and different than Louisiana. You can argue that Louisiana has 4/5 different regions (New Orleans, BR, Lafayette-Lake Charles [Acadiana], Shreveport [and maybe Alexandria-Nagodish]), though in Louisiana New Orleans dominated the state, where as in Ohio, outside of rural SE Ohio, the other regions have balanced each other out.
  13. Is your day job to be one of the White House Press corp? You know, the ones who were pissed because they couldn't break the story about the VP shooting someone.
  14. Well, the Physic program doesn't operate out of Knowlton or Derby Hall, so I can see why Dan is uninformed.
  15. Getting closer to the water when facing down a Hurricane is always a good idea. :|
  16. So the Northside is getting over on the Southside again. Same thing has been going on for 150 years. Why stop now.

I think you were just reposting Summit St. photos from his visit there 2 years ago. :-P
  18. Isn't that akin to saying somewhere south of Cleveland? :-)

Unless there is a station already using the 700 KHz in Washington to cause interference, any type of radio should pick up WLW in the District.

No, it never made it to Baton Rouge. Nor to my computer.
  21. Yep, Spray drift. Wouldn't be surprised if the brime also leeches into the soil there as well.
  22. Yes, I have a copy of Wierd Ohio (purchased with a Christmas gift card to Barnes & Noble). I haven't read all of the book, I might be 1/2 way through it and I too haven't found myself overly impressed by it either. Odd looking buildings or highway kitsch, sign me up for the tour. Ghost stories-could care less. Almost forgot. A most interesting feature of the Wierd series (Wierd NJ, Wierd USA, Wierd Ohio, Wierd Texas). On the jacket cover of all their books, they use the same early 1970s Ohio roadmap (because it shows US 25, US 30 N/S) in black highlight.

I warned C-Dawg and CD. But they left me with no choice. :whip: Master P 50 cent Silkk the Shocker C-Murder (who is facing a murder rap here in Louisiana) Mystikal MCT DJ Jubilee Mia X Fiend Mr. Marcelo from the Ghetto Young Bleed Prime Suspects Big Ed Mac Soulja Slim Kane & Abel (ok they originally started in NYC, but found themselves in NOLA) Skull Duggery Lil Soldiers Lil Wayne Juvenile Baby Gansta Beelow The Ghetto Twiinz Now CD can go back to walking the halls of Knowelton muttering to everyone who passes him that he's the second cousin of Bootsy Collins and that makes him the golden child. And C-Dawg can go back to making cheezy videos that if anyone replays in front of him in five years, he'll strangle them. :shoot: :argue:
  24. I think it's all about political connections (within that particular party) and then the city's pitch. So yes, Columbus has a puncher's chance.
  25. My biggest regret being here in Baton Rouge is that there are NO, NONE, ZIP, camera stores. How bad is it down here? Wal-mart is the only place I trust for film developing down here. I defenitely got spoiled by the camera/film options in Columbus.
