Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
Magyar replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat's so wierd about that? You enter the mall complex from the back, you leave from the front. Besides, it only effects people north of US 36. Shoppers from Columbus won't notice a difference (other than more lanes and fewer orange barrels)

How can any shopping center be the heart and soul of anything (or place)?

Columbus: General Transit Thread
Give Locatous some credit. OSU is sprawled out. They have schools in Newark, Marion, Lima, Wooster, and Lewis Center. You know as well as I do that it is alot of land for them to cover. ;-)

More or less follows I-670 (east of Cassidy, 670 goes north of the Airport, the rail line goes south of the Airport)

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
No, a Banana Republic would have wooden shacks for train stations, runway tarmacks for boarding planes, and dirt and gravel for the roads you drive on. Now when was the last time you got to try any of those situations?

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Projects & News
A map for Grasscat. http://www.roadfan.com/i73awf1.html For the Columbus contingent, the report where I got this from should still be sitting at the Columbus Public Library (main branch) in the Biography-Travel Section.

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Projects & News
There is a good reason why you're seeing articles from the Myrtle Beach Sun Times. They are part of the local community championing the construction of I-73. Zane Wilson e-mailed back in June (the day before I left Columbus to go back "south") about my I-73 pages (Zane-Why haven't you updated them in so long? San-Because nothing is going on north of the Ohio River, and I've moved on to other projects) and mentioned that he was doing a roadtrip scouting out I-73. So there you go. Maybe I should tell him about Fostoria.

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Projects & News
Can't comfirm dates or drawings/plans (because I don't know) But when I-73 was being debated 10 years ago, the plan was to route I-73 down US 23 and bypass Fostoria to the east. The Fostoria By-pass has shown up on several level 2 catigories for ODOT spending since then.

Columbus: Innerbelt News
I think I have some from 2 years ago. Besides being out of date, they are slightly buried right now as well (I spent the weekend moving from one side of LSU to a different side)

Columbus: Ohio State Main Library Renovation
For a time, only library employees were allowed in the tower (don't know when that policy ended. 1970s? 1980s?) I think OSU finally took out the old peumatic (sp) tubes, for moving books, from the towers in the last 2 years. I noticed them when I first arrived at main campus in 1999.

How Do You Explain Ohio To People?
In general conversation down here around LSU, I'll use Ohio, unless I'm refering to a specific location. Otherwise, I'll say I'm from Columbus if asked.

Grandview Heights: Developments and News
Looking at the map, thats a little bigger than I originally thought (Could they please take that hotel out as well). Granted it would be in Grandview, but I don't think of Grandview till I get north of Goodale. This gateway to Grandview talk, south of the railroad, is just BS. The city is trying to determine if a strip mall at Dublin and Grandview would enhance or cause problems for the Grandview Ave strip of stores.

Columbus: Hotels, Conventions and Tourism News & Info
Laramie, Wyoming. Frankly, I don't understand the handwringing over the NRA ditching Columbus. The NRA has become a bunch of right-wing zealots. Let'em go elsewhere (and take several you-know-who's from here as well).

Columbus: OSU / University Area Developments and News
Magyar replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnother reason to hate Campus Partners (and Barnes & Noble). They don't have the decency to continue the "Long's bookstore" tradition. :shoot: Let's see here, where should the Long Bookstore sign go? OSU Museum, Columbus (History) Museum, the Sign museum (in Cincy)?
